WahooSteeler
True to form for me, I'm scrambling at the last minute to make sure I have everything I need for the Steeler Nation Wrench-a-thon with the Richmond Va chapter this weekend. That being said, can anybody tell me what dimensions my replacement u-bolts need to be for my MT spring packs mounted under a D44? Need the info pretty quick so that I can have some made up and or purchased by the end of the day tomorrow. Hey mjeff87, we should set up a video camera and time lapse it so it looks like a 30 minute episode of Overhaulin at the end of the weekend LOL! johnnyc
The tubes are 2.75", so that's the inside diameter. And I believe they usually come in 9" length.

HOrnbrod
EDIT: JUst saw you have a D44 - IGNORE the below except about doubling your nuts. Wahoo, you going to need 1/2" dia. round u-bolts, 2-3/4" width inside-to-inside (ID), and 8" length top to bottom. ASSuming you are installing on a D35 axle and are staying SUA. These are what I used when I installed my MT 5-leaf springs. And don't forget to double up your nuts!

And I'm talking about the U-bolt nuts (two on each bolt leg), not yours mate.
WahooSteeler
whew! i was worried they were 1/2" because i already called a shop to fab them at 9/16's. schweeeet. :jump:
mvusse
You're having U bolts made? They are common enough that I imagine places like Fastenall would have them. As well as just about any car dealership in various sizes. There's gotta be a bunch that interchange with Comanches. I got a set for my Ford and for my D35 from Advance Auto Parts; they have quite a selection in the help section.
WahooSteeler
Called Advance, they couldn't get anything bigger than 1/2" and I need 9/16s. I didn't think of Fastenal until after the fact which is ironic you mention them because just last week I had to get them to order new flange bolts for my tow hooks. This shop is a spring and suspension specialist, that's all they do. They have threaded rod in stock in tons of different sizes, grade 5 and 8 of course. So all they do is pull some stock off a rack and put it on a bender. $46 for all of them in Grade 8 with nuts and washers included.
