armybmbsqd Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 I want to verify the definition of the rear axle in my TJ. The build sheet lists it as code DSAP Anti-Spin Differential Rear Axle. I assume this means limited slip. Am I right? I want to change the fluids to synthetic and need to know if I will need the limited slip additive. Thanks
maddzz1 Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Do some of the synthetics already have the Limited slip additive in them? I am also going to do this in my MJ and have seen the Mobil 1 LS. Does the LS mean it already has the additive for limited slip axles?
BLHTAZ Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 I don't really know about Mobil 1, but the AMSOIL 75-140 says that friction modifier is not needed...BUT, they make it in case you "want it". I run the AMSOIL in my 1500 Ram with no modifier with no problems and I tow up to 5000 lbs with it fairly often.
armybmbsqd Posted July 24, 2008 Author Posted July 24, 2008 Yes...you are correct  Thanks :D I plan on using Royal Purple synthetics for all the parts on the TJ. Well almost all. I don't want to pull the tranny just to drain the converter. I can get a bit of a deal on the fluids at work.
Eagle Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 I have no experience, as I'm basically a 5-speed guy, but the collected wisdom at NAXJA was to NOT use synthetic joy juice in the AW-4 transmission.
