possum Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 So I mounted a factory skid and a bed mount tire carrier on my truck. Here are some pics. But first a few poser shots. :D Now, The skid plate fresh from the yard Cleaned it up a bit and welded in a tube Paint And in place Now for the cheap A$$ tire carrier The carrier is rock solid. All in all I am satisfied.
89eliminator Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 i never get tired of seeing trucks with bed mounted spares. i've always have and always will like that look. nice job
possum Posted July 2, 2008 Author Posted July 2, 2008 Thanks guys. I got some more stuff coming in a bit. Just savin' up cash.
jaekl Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 It looks like the factory skid plate protects the tie rod or is it to keep branches from popping up into the radiator? I quess some projectile headed for the oil pan would be deflected down into the axle. Hopefully below it. Or is it to simply slide (skid) over a rock? I can see why you add the reinforcement. Never mind it looks like I anwered my own question.
