CMMagnussen replied to CMMagnussen's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks horn, Ill give it a try. Reason I said the manual wouldnt have it is because my parents have a 95 ZJ with the same system and the manual doesnt cover these speakers. can't wait to get these hooked up 4 of these combined with the Xplodes in the doors should sound pretty damned good :brows: -

won't do any good don't own a Chrysler mini-van let alone the manual, also the infinity system probably won't be in the manual, the stock stereo isnt remotely close either.... Ill check with IFSJA or something -

Thanks 87, Ill be hitting the dealer monday, as for leafs sucking...... if you in it for ride and think that an off-road truck should ride like a caddy then yeah, if you plan to beat the hell out of it and plan on it coming back for more......... go leafs Luckily Jeep did a nice job on the manches front suspension don't think ill be breaking it with what I'm doing..... -
Aight Checking My Lift Plans (Homebrew)

I know what they cost on the site..... was asking offroader what he wanted for his.... Leafs up front? As for the ride........ I won't be rock crawling, its a work truck and a stiffer ride serves me better in mud........ less breaks when your whailing on it and your driveshafts and everything else arent hopping allover the place.... -

Already got the control arms brake-lines ect. got pretty lucky on them too, as for ride......... as soon as i find another pair the trucks getting J20 leaf springs in the rear, so Dump-truck like ride won't begin to cover it :P Coils and spacers were free just like almost everything else I'm working with. erm hate to ask but how much for the install kit? -
Iv been searching for a few hours now to fill in the gaps but, not having an easy time of it. Plan is: Ford coils, 2" coil spacers and I'm thinking a SOA conversion in the rear...... Id like to use an 8.8 I see that this usually gets 6" worth of lift in the rear and my parts will get me 5.5 in the front (nice rake) Just like to confirm the 8.8s amount of lift and get a decent source of info on bolting this sucker in........ I don't want the word "kit used" those are BAAAD. where do I get the proper perches and what else is needed? Also should I consider dropping the transfer case?

Aight Blowby and some grit.............
CMMagnussen replied to CMMagnussen's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I like the smell of burning oil and other various fluids....... according to my dad pulling the valve cover and cleaning out the gunk should cut the blowby down for awhile....... we will be finding out tomorrow -
Replaced my rear vent on the valve cover with one of the little filters (shiny) started the truck up today and at high idle I start getting some smoke and oil out of the front. pulled the hose off and looked in the valve cover........ there is about an inch of gritty ugly build up...... can't be good... So here's my question, should I pull the valve cover clean it out put in another new gasket and add in another one of the little filters? Will this improve the quality of my life enough to justify the effort? Thank ya much, I'm headed outside to try installing my power bucket seats that don't seem to want to bolt in without a fight.....

swaping 91 wrangler 4.2L into 88 comanche
CMMagnussen replied to inline242's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Interesting idea.......... Wouldnt knock the 4.2 too much iv seen people turn them into animals with little effort (ill be doing it on my SX/4 soon) 4.2 with 4.0 head and fuel injection system can be fun..... or for us muscle car fanatics (me) 4.2 4.0 HO head decked and ground, header, offenhauser 4bbl intake, truck avenger carb, TFI ignition, and not sure where I'm headed with the cam........ yeah they are right though....... that stock carb needs to go to hell..... -
Saw CWs roll bar (guy does some nice fabwork) its out of some sort of stepside, won't be finding a bar like that out here cheap enough. JOM is using a ranger roll bar and looks great but can't tell if his truck is a LWB or not......... MA is a little bit of a hike but how much for the bar? Ill prolly keep scouting junkyards untill I find something choppable.....
-
Aight need to know what roll bar is easiest to mod for my 87 lwb comanche....... ford ranger, dodge dakota, S10, what? Had to narrow a 78 ford roll bar for my J20 so adjusting the width of th bar isnt a problem....

If you have a source for military surplus there was a version of the 6.2 available with an alluminum block and a special oil system that allowed it to run upside down........ I think the military used them in some blazers and gamma-goats

44 Front Install Kit
CMMagnussen replied to CMMagnussen's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Had enough trouble getting the D60 front for my J-Truck (Paid $80 MWAHAHAHA!!!) 3" wider up front eh? Ahh well it will turn tighter what the hell...... -
Anyone use one of these yet? http://www.tntcustoms.com/webv5/Dana44Swap.asp Sounds pricey but I usually end up making one stupid purchase per truck and this might aswell be it..... I'm thinking I have a HP 44 sitting in the shop aswell as a Pair of WT 44s under my J-truck with new brakes and new warn premium lockouts. Use the Jeep outers on the HP 44 and use the WT rear (Posi no less) end result dual 44s nice rims and tires (off the J-Truck) and a hell of a track width. Thoughts on the kit and my plan?
