Hey guys, When I got my shocks the rear shocks (Bilstein 5100) they have a cross pin with 2 holes. My mounts look like I need just a hole. Do I have the wrong shocks or is there a "mount" that I should have. I searched the forums and the internet and it looked like people were having to punch that end out. I really didnt like the sound of that. Big thanks for any info pals!

WOW!!!!!!! Nothing has gone smoothly yet and I still don't have my truck going on 3 weeks now. 2 bad carriers, Robert at RWK is going to check with the MFG about them. Finally machined the hole to the correct size and have the front just about done. Locker and gears should be finished up today along with axle shafts and U joints. The rear axle is done as well except for the shock mounts. Bilstein 5100 shocks arrived late Friday and they appear to be the wrong shock for the rear. I ordered them from Kolak so I figured he would know which shocks to send. They have a plate going thru one end with a hole on each side side of the plate. From what I see it looks like I need a shock with just a hole on each end. Maybe I am just an idiot but they look wrong to me. :wall: Waiting on him to call me back with a solution. I did order my ARB Bull bar but I am finding out that nothing goes smooth when working on a 25 year old truck. Just waiting on the next problem.

Dana 30 Carrier And Locker Install Problems
Bmoore2 replied to Bmoore2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I got 2 carriers from Yukon. Both were the same. The carrier hole was tapped wrong. I was so pissed I went to look for myself. Just an FYI.... Yukon carriers for a dana 30 are not tapped correctly. The hole was oblong and not round. And not even the factory pin would go in. Both pins would fit the factory carrier perfect. My opinion Yukon is junk But it's straightened out now. Machine shop tapped the holes correctly and it's installed. Hope to have my truck back in a few days. Thanks again fellas -
Dana 30 Carrier And Locker Install Problems
Bmoore2 replied to Bmoore2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No it's the carrier.... I thought the same thing. The pin from the locker will not go thru the carrier. The stock pin from from the 30 will not go thru the carrier. Yukon carrier will not take the pin. Super frustrated. Well just got some good news.... Machine shop straightened out the lop-sided hole bored in the carrier. Everything is FINALLY COMING TOGETHER!!!!!!! -
Dana 30 Carrier And Locker Install Problems
Bmoore2 replied to Bmoore2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I bought the second carrier from rob at rwkhaussupply.com. He insured me I have the right carrier. I am wondering if he is installing it wrong. I don't think he has pulled the pins that hold the 4 springs down. I am just very frustrated... I want my truck back. -
Dana 30 Carrier And Locker Install Problems
Bmoore2 replied to Bmoore2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I just watched a video of a spartan install. If he has not removed the little pins that hold the springs down before trying to insert the line up pin will that cause it not to line up right? The locker hole is not lining up with the large cross pin and the carrier hole. Sorry I had to do a little more digging. -

Spartan Lockers Spartan Lockers SL D30-27 That is the locker I bought -
Hey guys, My mechanic is having one hell of a time with this Spartan locker and carrier in my dana 30. The line up pin that goes in the carrier through the locker is not lining up right. What is the fix? It's getting really frustrating. Can someone please help me? I'm am sure I have the right carrier as I have ordered 2 thinking the first one was wrong. The locker is the spartan for dana 30. I can get part number if that would help.

No.... my brother in law is doing the swap for me. He asked me if I had seen any ideas.... Figured I would toss it out there since so many people swap these axles out.

Well I dropped off the 88 comanche at my brother in law garage Friday. This week she will be getting lots of new goodies added. We are sending the old dana 35 to retirement, swapping in a 8.25 29 spline with 4.56 gears, locker SOA set up. Up front new Yukon carrier and gears along with a spartan locker. The cheesy stock front axle shafts are being replaced with chromoly one piece shafts and spicer 760 u joints. We are also tossing the current shocks and replacing them with Bilstein 5100 series shocks. New spicer 1310 u joints will be put on the driveshafts. Rear main seal was leaking so that is being fixed too. I will post plenty of pictures when I get it back next weekend hopefully. Along with that here are some of the other things I have replaced since I bought this truck. New fuel pump, injectors, clutch, flywheel, slave cylinder, starter, alternator, valve cover gasket, skyjacker track bar, Mickey Thompson 33 x 12.50s When I bought the truck it had the lift already on it. From my measurement it's a 6 inch lift. Next up in the money line will probably be an ARB Bull bar and winch. Then I will start looking for bucket seats. I could not have done any of this without the help from my Comanche Club Family. Thank all of you guys for all the help you have provided me!!!! More to come I am sure

Should I Replace My Driveshaft U Joints????

Spicer 1310? Is that what i need to purchase? -
don't worry..... I have all the stuff for the 8.25 axle swap now. Actually I am schedualed to drop it off friday to have the rear end swapped, new gears and and locker up front, new chromoly axle shafts and spicer 720 u joints. All that is ready to go. I have read to go mid 90 dakota brake lines? That sound right? I was going to order some new shocks anyway. So basically just buy shocks for a larger lift than 6 inches? Thats some pretty serious flex... All that i would ever need. So just pull those pins in the front and thats it? I was always worried about being able to get the pins back in. :dunce: Thanks again guys!!!!!!

Hey Guys, I have all the stuff to make my drivetrain where I want it. Now I need some help on what to do to obtain some flex. I have no clue what makes these trucks flex out but I want mine to do it. (Just becasue its bad a$$.) By measuring from a process I was given on here I have a 6 inch lift. And thats all that I know about it. From what I have been reading a long arm is the way to go to acheive this. But dumb me don't even know what the hell your are talking about saying long arm. How labor intensive is it to install? (we all know I have to pay labor) Here are some pictures of my current set up that was on the truck when I bought it. (minus track bar and stablizer) If there are any questions for me that would assist in a helpful answer please let me know. I don't have a clue what to do. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have not done the 8.25 swap as you can see. But I have it and everything for the swap to locked front and back with 4.56 gears. Just need to figure out where my next chunk of change will go and if maybe I should hold off and have what ever is needed for flex installed at the same time as the drivetrain. Thank as always for all the help from one very great group of guys. I couldnt spend my money without yall!!!!

Where To Buy A Spartan Locker From?
Bmoore2 replied to CoryMJ89's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Randy's was 350 dollars when I looked 2 weeks ago. Rockauto shipped was 283.00. (before club discount) Robert does have some really good deals. I got a great deal on chromoly axle shafts. He would be worth the call or email.
