I have a steel skid plate, I will trade that covers the gas tank for a 23.5 gal. Its off a long bed...

I have a 1990 Jeep Comanche Pioneer 4x4 4.o and I need either a good torque converter or a whole aw4 transmission. I have been all over the net looking and had one lined up in Pittsburgh.... Guy jerked me around and now I am back to looking. I really can't afford more than $100 for whole trans. My jeep has been sitting for 4 months cause of this. I had to swap some other parts but this is all I need. Anything is appreciated. I have a front end axle that probably needs bearings that I would trade. Or I have some 31" tires.... or some steel 15" rims.

I have one... let me know what a fair price is and I would have to ship it to you. I am at 16239.

I think both NAPA and AutoZone test your system for free. Most battery places do the same....

Checked all the injectors. All seem to click and operate. Has very strong smell in exhaust. Idle is still rough with popping every couple of seconds. Thinking something is wrong with timing..... any thoughts? -

Not real sure what it is... I have checked all the lines that I can see. I will look up int the manual to find any others.... It almost sounds as if there is a miss fire. I am thinking maybe the injectors may be clogged up.... or might be a sensor???? -

Thanks! I have a new fuel filter... but i may check it out again. I have a pressure guage and I tested it, that is how I know that it bleeds off. I am in the process of changing the pressure regulator. I will let you know what I find out. -

Doesn't anyone have a direction to send me with this project? Did I make you all mad about something I posted? I really could use some suggestions! Thanks!! -
MJ is sick. Limps around. Plugged exhaust? FIXED
jas2861 replied to Sir_Brando's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Could be a couple of things.... Does it have a cat. converter.... if so, its probably plugged. Also it could be your coil, plugs or wires. Search to test the coil, and wires on this site. I would check the cat. converter though first!!! -
Hey... I have a 1990 Pioneer 4.0 4x4 auto. I am having some trouble getting my comanche back online and running correctly. So far I have replaced.... the coil, plugs, wires, gas tank, and fuel filter. I get some pressure (39) when I initially turn the key, then it bleeds off.... It will start but at very low rpm and the OIL PRESSURE light is on. I put a little gas in the intake and the rpm's increase. I think that I am having issues with either the fuel pressure regulator or something to do with the fuel pump. How do I test both? Is there anything else that I may be missing?

Check your ignition coil. You can test it with an ohm tester. I would also check your cat. converter... it maybe clogged. -
I don't know where to find the two vents for the top of the tank. I purchased a new one and those did not come with it. They go in the two 1in. holes and connect to hoses that look like vents. I can't get them out of the old tank without destroying them. Can someone point me in a direction.... I have tried all the local auto parts stores... and noone could get them? Thanks!

I am still looking for a used/new gas tank for a jeep comanche. It has to be the 23.5 gal tank. I can't afford a new tank right now. Thanks for looking and I appreciate any help! The best price I found was for 139.00. I will have to wait until mid June to get it. I would love to find one asap.... I would like to get back on the trails again!

There are a couple of things.... 1. Check your vacuum lines coming from the transmission up into your engine by the fire wall. These should be a couple of different colors and be hard plastic. Look for breaks, cracks, or maybe they just came out. 2. Check up on your front axle by the actuator. There is a connection that comes undone that you may need to plug back in. Hope that helps.
