Factory front winch mount
krustyballer16 replied to krustyballer16's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The original kit? Just spaced the bumper out 3". My kit will be the same thing. For a 5000# winch. Not a 9000# like I mounted Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk -

Ya, the only other porter cable I'm buying is another oscillating saw since mine died. I need it to finish my house lol. Comes in handy a lot! I guess I'll try the Hitachi sawzall for $160. The reviews seem good on it, nobody says it's a big piece of $#!& so I guess that's about average with everyone elses lol. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk

They're battery impacts are awesome. I have 3 of them in different sizes. I'm not afraid to switch brands just didnt eanna buy a saw, batteries and charger then it suck @$$. I have porter cable too and thats rhe onlt battery sawzall I have and you can barely cut thru a 2x6 on one battery So out at the junkyard its useless. Peter cable impact and drill is awesome too I finally burnt up my oscillating saw from them after running the balls off it, I'm going to buy a replacement in porter cable too. Factory front winch mount
krustyballer16 replied to krustyballer16's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So no update on this really... More of me thinking of a plan on this stuff. I've seen a few different kits now after looking around. And with my front crossmember from my frame stiffener kit that will go with this winch kit, I've decided to delete some pieces from it... This kit will consist of everything on the left side of the first pic (all left and rights not shown) and the pieces right of the ruler will be deleted. The 2nd pic shows the new full width front frame tie in that can be welded or bolted in. The 3rd pic shows a backer plate for behind the front crossmember for the winch to sandwich together. I know I need to add the 6.5"x4.5" bolt pattern for the smaller winch this is rated for. The 4.5"x10" bolt pattern is already in the front crossmember...I've had a winch bolted up to it... Any input? 86 with newer hood
krustyballer16 replied to krustyballer16's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well I got the new style top support fitted. Fits well actually! With this different radiator in there I had to clear the cap. And Bo had used the stock cross support and some rubber bushings to hold the top or the radiator in place. So the new style support fits right over the stock one and holds it all together You can kinda see in the one pic that the inside face of the hood catch/spring doesnt quite touch the front support. I'll have to make a spacer for that. I'll have to drill a hole in the front support anyways to catch that bolt hole anyways. So right now I'm needing the full hood release cable to run inside the cab. I guess I don't hsve one laying around. But so far, I think this swap will work. And its been pretty easy. I don't thjnk theres any restrictions here but if I start building these I'll title them. Probably have to to sell out of state Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk

What size tube is that? 3x4? And what did you say not to do with that adjustable height connector? It sits too high or too low? I forgot about that. I was just gonna put a 2" ball connector on and be done. Height adjustments would be made with lifting it to match the truck or a drop hitch Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk

I know it's been started before, I posted once but can't find my old post, let's see some bed trailers. I've currently got 3 short bed rear frame sections and a few beds I can use to make trailers. I'm not sure how I want to make the tongues for them so I'm looking for ideas and pics of how others have done them. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk

Has anybody put a newer style hood with latches and everything on their 86? I can modify the top radiator support from a newer style to fit the 86 inner fender frame/support. And after some measuring, I mounted the body side catches/striker on the fender support too... Just gotta put on a hood that has all the newer guts on it and see. Just curious if anybody else has done this... When Bo swapped radiators for the 5.2 swap he was afraid the center catch on the hood might hit the top of the radiator when closed, and it might, but from some tests and what I see, it should clear. This isnt a huge deal if it doesnt work. Gotta get Black Betty running first lol Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
