  3. No I don't have pics until tomorrow when i go get another car reader to upload em :(. Hello to all, never posted up a new to the board thread so here's one. Just got an 87 comanche for $550 with a 2" RE lift and 31's. I wheel mostly just trails, some hills, and mud/water/sand. I don't have that heavy of a foot. Wondering what you would recommend for I'm looking for recommendations as to keeping or ditching the d35 rear. I mostly wheel close to stock but this one I'm going to put money in as I get to it. First will be the 92+ radiator swap. Then the ax-15 to get rid of the ba-10. After those two are down I'm going to attempt to tackle axles/gears. How long do you think the d35 would last with 31's wheeling trails and some mud? Not sure on gears, haven't gotten around to checking the axles closely. Sorry if they're too big, I don't upload pics a lot [/img]

  12. Well I think my radiator just might be bad or at least on the way out. I replaced the water pump, replaced the thermostat/gasket/sealant both sides, upper and lower hose, and made sure the belt is completely tight. The hoses aren't leaking and tomorrow when I head to work I'll see if my thermostat gasket is holding (what a pain getting my hands in there for the bottom bolt). The price on that overflow is what I'd be spending on a new to me radiator and I wired the electric fan to a toggle switch so that sensor isn't that big a deal
  13. I'm just getting my 87 mj underway and trying to use it as a DD since my other truck just blew up. Hopefully you'll have that radiator parts list available since I'd like to go with the open system. Any ideas as to what 92+ cherokees had a 3 row radiator?
  14. Actually as far as NJ is concerned you can't pass on the shoulder either unless its a dotted line. I had to go to driving school for too many points in the first year of having a license and they told me that. Doesn't mean I don't do it tho ;)
  15. I found an 88 4.0 manual at a local dealership and they said they wanted $1500. Sounded good so I went to look at it to find out that the exhaust was redone as a dual and wasn't done right so it was rattling and had a bad exhaust leak at the manifold, alternator was bad, rusted out underneath, missing the spare tire, passenger door didn't work, back window wasn't for a comanche so it didn't fit right and leaked on the drivers side, and there was a puddle on the passenger side but it hadn't rained in a while, and the oil pressure gauge didn't work. They asked how I liked it so I told em what was wrong with it and they said they'd look into it and probably fix it up. They called me back an hour later saying its not worth fixing it and that it was still $1500 i couldn't stop laughing at the guy

  18. thing is that it was rebuilt by the second shop 2,000 miles ago but that 2,000 miles was about 2 years ago (was parked a while). The first shop that messed it up wouldn't honor the warranty for whatever reason. This used to belong to another friend of mine and he knows the details but I am a little hazy. Just trying to help out a friend.
  19. its 4wd and quits while moving. Not sure of the transfer case so whatever would have come in 86 with a 2.8 and auto trans
  20. the transmission disengages completely. Even if you shift gears it still doesn't give anything
  21. sorry forgot to mention its an auto. I'm thinking its not the dirty fluid part since it was just rebuilt twice. Thanks for the input I'll have to look into that. He's saying he's thinking of selling for 600 obo so I listed it in pirate
  22. Hey and thanks in advance. Friend has an 86 MJ with the 2.8 and he's having trans problems. They aren't my field. What happens is he can drive it till it gets warm then the trans cuts out, if he shuts it off for a minute or two he can go another 100 feet maximum then it dies again. Any ideas what would cause this? The trans was rebuilt by a shop that messed it up somehow. Then rerebuilt by another shop that has done work for another friend in the past without problem. Just wanted to pick your brains to see if anyone would have an idea or has had a similar problem with solution.

I always go camping when I go wheeling so I've got chainsaw, ratchet straps, duct tape, penetrating oil, 119pc mechanics set, oil dry, spare nuts/bolts, electrical kit, 3 or 4 friends, another rig, spare fluids, hi lift, 2 junk yard scissor jacks, 2 pieces of plywood, shovel, axe, prybar, and whatever else i can fit in the truck
