  1. I personally wouldn't pay that much for it....I bought one wrecked but a few years older than that for $150. I wouldn't pay more the $500 for it.
  2. I'd either do as said above and get a cheap stereo with a AUX input. Or get an FM modular for your Ipod (if they make one) I've got one for my Creative Labs zen xtra MP3 player and it works great just plays over a preset radio station. The plus side to doing it this way is if you have multiple vechiles you can just grab it and take it with you in all of them. The negative is sometimes if your traveling and the station gets stronger it will try to play the radio instead of you mp3 player and you have to tune to another station to get good sound.

    stereo?

First of all find a sub that requires minimum air space to operate properly. Then make a sub box for it. If I was going to put a sub box in the MJ I'd look into something from JL audio and see if they had one of there low space stealth boxes available for it or make one that would suit my needs. The easiest thing to do would be to get a 10" or 12" sub. Just one and mount in the the middle of the box and extend the sides of your box to each side of the cab. That would gain you a lot of airspace if you need that much. But again check out subs and buy one that operates well with less air space.
  4. the way to get a cheap windshield replacement is to call a place real early in the morning and ask them for a quote before the person giving the quote is comeplete awake and functional....my buddy got new glass for his car...they quoted him $95 installed for his car...they normally do his car for $350 or something like that..but they honored the screw up and he got cheap glass..
  5. I don't know where you at....but if your anywhere around phillly/new jersey area I'd highly recommend talking with Zack at atoz fabrication and see if he has any ideas or time to build something custom....I've seen a lot of this guys work and its top notch. website is www.atozfabrication.com
  6. I am currently doing this swap....its taking me longer than expected due to money issues and very limited times to work on it. What I started with was an 89 MJ 2.5L 2wd and bought a XJ with a 4.0L auto, and np242. You'll need all the stuff Comanchedude listed above to complete the swap. I also decided to swap out the dash in my truck witht he one from the XJ. I was switching from a manual to an auto though and have a console I want to put in that matches the dash so that is why I'm going thru the extra step. Make sure you change the motor mounts. That will solve your fitment issues. Also as stated above the radiator support that is in there for the 2.5L comes out with either 2 or 4 bolts and then is correct for the 4.0L radiator. Good luck....hopefully mine will be complete this weekend....well minus a rear driveshaft...but that is only because it was originally 2wd
  7. not mine...its a buddies
  8. yes, he does indeed know his $#!&....when I have the money to make mine grow I'll be picking his brain :D and he knows the cheapest ways to do things that are functional
  9. Bought mine for $50 off my ex-father-inlaw.....have bought a cherokee for parts $200 and ended making about $1000 off other parts will doing my swap and parts sell off....so at this point mine has gained me $750....beat that!...lol
  10. I'll have to see if I can get him over here....he'll be able to tell you how he did the steering...I don't have a clue
  11. I wouldn't mind knowing too. I saw those before, and umm, the look like spring plates and bolts. And I don't see how they'd be reducing axle wrap or anything else... X3...I'm with you guys...thats what it looks like to me too......however I'd be interested in a better explaination...and if it does what is says....that would be cool....either way...if I like it I'll make my own
  12. he's not on here...I'll be telling him about the site next time I remember to do so.....or you can usually find him on bbb.jeepininin.com under the screen name crazy_cooter56.
  13. This is a buddy of mines MJ. The tires its sitting on are 38's. It was sitting with waggy springs at roughly 10-11 inches of lift. He's running a dana 60 in the front and a 14 bolt in the rear. This thing is a beast.

    funny story

ah to be young and dumb again...how I miss it so
  15. it would look pretty silly to have 5/5.5" of lift with 31's IMO
  16. yeah...that...I was close... :D :D
  17. You may right, I don’t know how accurate the info on Comanche Stock Specs at JeepForum.com is, but this combo is listed ? http://jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=135806 However, I think the XJ's, both Renix and HO's have the AW4/242 combo option, so creating such animal :) for the MJ, shouldn’t be that hard ? that is exactly what I did...bought a 91 XJ and am putting the 4.0/AW4/242 into my 2wd MJ for a conversion....but the rear shaft out of the XJ is going to be too short...because the whell base on an XJ is something like 103" and the short bed MJ is 112"..
  18. cool...I'll have to make a few phone calls to the yards and see if anyone has one sitting around
  19. Did the MJ ever come with a AW4/242 combo from the factory for a shortbed? Reason I ask is because I'm dropping that and a 4.0L in my shortbed and I'm going to need a rear driveshaft...if they made them from the factory with that option I should be able to locate a rear driveshaft for it and not have to cut the one from my 2 wheel drive down.
  20. I don't know how much it weighs but it isn't light...then again when I pulled mine it was attached to the tranny as well....it took me and a buddy to move it...
  21. I don't have one...but over going to the dealership...I'd find the closet Napa to you and have them get or make you one...good luck
  22. I'm changing out a 2.5L in mine to a 4.0L out of a XJ and its a pain in the sack..pull all wiring harness, mounts, I decided to just swap the dash to save some time...and reconnect a few plugs that don't match between the two for lighting and such...its a pain in the @$$.....I hate fuel injection....had i swapped in a 350 I'd be done by now and have it running..
  23. Been here for a little bit but kept forgetting to take pictures of my MJ. Picked it up cheap with a 4 cylinder in it. She'd been wrecked and was just sitting around in someone yard waiting for some TLC. The front needs some work. But she's beautiful to me. She'll soon be getting SOA in the rear and longer coils in the front in addition to a new powertrain. Changing out the interior for buckets and removing carpet to rhino..also installing a dash out of an XJ. But here she is before all the mods. AFter pictures to follow in a few weeks.
  24. Any idea what lenght of driveshaft I'll need when I finish swapping out the drivetrain from a XJ into my MJ. The XJ's are 101" wheelbase I believe and the MJ should be 112 or 113" long. Is there anything I can just pull a driveshaft out off that will make up the difference so I don't have to have one cut down? I've heard of people pulling the front shafts out of a ford F150 and using them in the rears. Can anyone confirm that? Technically I should be able to grab one out of a MJ that is 4x4 to begin with and it will fit. Problem is that they aren't that easy to find around here.
