At $250, I would likely buy it. I am just worried about shipping adding another $150 to that. So, why not C channel? Probably cheaper to make and ship that way. Do you need to use box because of the hitch? What about tabs where you can put your own D rings in? Isn't that how some other bumpers do it? I hope these end up getting made.
-
Are you thinking tube or box?

I know JC Whitney used to sell one, but it looks like they don't anymore. Does anyone sell a MJ specific factory style rear step bumper? If not, does anyone sell a MJ specific non-tube style rear bumper at all? Maybe with an integrated hitch? I've seen that one tube style one, but it doesn't strike my fancy.

My truck was leaking like crazy. The whole underside was coated with oil. I never would have thought that so much oil could leak out of the back of the valve cover gasket...but it can. I say change the valve cover gasket because its cheap and easy and you probably need to do it anyway. Maybe it will make your leak go away!

It took me a little trial and error to find the right grommets and breather for the front hole in my 88's valve cover. Figured I'd post them for posterity: Grommet: Help! part no: 42322 $2.29 (Advance) Breather: K&N part no: 62-1030 $15.59 (Amazon.com)

I put some in my old MJ. You need to pay attention to the mounting depth of the speaker, because there isn't a ton of room there. I got a pair of pretty thin Blaupunkts for like $40 from crutchfield.

I think I did this cruise too. Its hilarious that you came out with the "seeing is Belizing" jokes - thats what I was just about to type. My favorite was Grand Cayman too. We did a jeep tour there through some mangroves, it was a good time.

+1 for the rear bumper idea, I have to think there is at least some market for that now that there is nowhere else to get them...

Also movies and GPS. The movies are nice if you grab a bit at a drive through or something, you can watch a movie while you eat. The GPS is also handy, I use some software called MapMonkey that gives turn by turn directions and stuff. I thought I would use it for other stuff, like email or video games or something - but I never do.

Shouldn't you be wearing your suit of armor while working on trucks?

Nothing, thats just where the old radio was. The 97+ XJ's use a 1.5 din radio, so the hole was pretty big to start with. I made it a little bigger to fit the touch screen, but thats all.

With the talk of MP3 players in the other thread, I thought I'd post the build of a Jeeputer in my XJ. Here is a picture of the screen installed: Here is a page detailing the build of that bezel, as well as some information about the computer itself: http://www.pragmaticutopia.com/index.ph ... iew&id=110

A while back I asked about getting started with welding. Now that I have all the gear and have read a lot about it, I have one more question. Many places suggest getting scrap metal and just welding random stuff to practice. Does anyone know where I can buy such metal in CT? I'm not aware of any "metal stores". Sorry for the newb question - I just haven't had any exposure to this. My friends are all computer geeks of the non-welding variety. Thanks!

Yeah, I would think so. I'm in the market for one for my SWB, and noticed that the hidden hitch says for LWB only, but nothing about the factory step bumper. The Drawtite one though, says LWB or SWB, but requires the factory step bumper. :dunno: Only 1 way to find out, I guess.
-
No. I believe that the one from Hidden Hitch is for a LWB. The one that Drawtite advertises is for SWB or LWB, but requires a factory type step bumper, because you put a pin or bolt or something through the step into the top of the receiver.

I have a 20GB Dell DJ, but I don't really use it much except in the summer on my boat. In my XJ I have a full computer/touchscreen molded into the dash to play MP3's and movies and stuff.

I'm curious what everyone uses for buying new auto parts online? I have been using www.rockauto.com, but am not happy with them because I think their shipping prices are unreasonable. Thanks!

I'm parting out a 94XJ. I had originally thought I would leave it as a rolling chassis when I got rid of it. I figured I'd call some junkyard or something and they would come and get it. Do I need to leave it a rolling chassis though? Anyone in CT familiar with how I might get rid of the body if I sell off the axles and stuff?
-
Yes, but there's a few more sensors you'll have to adapt too. Oh ya, like TPS and stuff, right?
-
An HO head will bolt up to a pre-HO block if I use the HO manifolds, TB, fuel rail, and modify the fuel lines to the new location, right?

Here is a discount code you can use at Rock Auto for the next couple months to get 5% off: 619705561813 I don't know if anyone uses them here, but they have good prices on some stuff. www.rockauto.com

That happened to me while I was putting mine up. This thing was pretty heavy, so I was really surprised when it went airborne, must have been 10+ feet in the air. I caught up to it at a neighbors house. My coverit looks just like CW's now, but my boat is still under that mess. Hopefully tonight it will be thawed enough that I can remove it. Hope it didn't damage the (fiberglass) boat.
-
This snow took out the "coverit" on my boat too. It is iced down now, so I have to leave the mangled mess over my boat until it thaws. :headpop:

Are MJ front bumper brackets the same as a cherokee of the same year? On rockauto.com they have bumper brackets for a cherokee for like $5.00 each, but nothing listed for Comanche. Thanks!
