  1. took around 4 hours or so with some pic stops and lunch. the rest of the group went a bit further but i took off at mt. hood cause my daughter was a bit worn out. fun trip. nate
  2. so voting with bush 95% of the time is different? how is he different? so the bush administration can take none of the blame for the economy? isn't he the one supposed to be running the country? if the economy was booming, wouldn't people be saying that bush is doing a great job? the reverse doesn't hold true? sorry, i guess i am just the outsider on a jeep board
  3. wow, you guys get worked up. i have been around jeep boards for a long time and have seen my share of attack threads and this is not one. anyway, gotta go check my stocks to see how much i have left after bush is done wi..... oops can't go there. later
  4. Pete, Eagle, how 'bout banning political discussions entirely like most all the auto/truck forums do. This is a super forum dedicated to our MJs and doesn't need statements as above from people who must live under rocks. They can post up their crap elsewhere on the 100s of available blog sites. Or do a poll and see what the majority opinion is. Pete - Don's right. If we as mature adults cannot speak in an educated way without the "your candidate sucks" stuff then we need to either close it down or ban the discussion. there is a difference in saying that palin is clueless and and saying "your candidate sucks". tell me what i said that was uneducated?
  5. wow, i must have watched a different debate then the rest. to me, mcain seemed defensive and juvenile by laughing and shaking his head when obama talked. i don't care if mcain has been to war or served in the military. does that automatically make you ready to be president? he is just another bush follower. get rove, cheney and the rest of the oil slaves out of the white house. we need to change the way the world views america and make allies, not continue to make enemies. unnecessary wars will not help that. palin is clueless and has no right to be a vice presidential candidate.
  6. i did a 9" swap in my old zj and used suzuki front vented rotors, lincoln mark VII rear calipers (built in parking brake) and homemade brackets. worked great. nate
  7. you should before someone decides to close the roads. we ran into quite a bit of closed roads and had to make our way around. don't wait, it is a rare opportunity we have with that route. nathan
  8. he had it custom made at Leonards Off Road here in Hillsboro nathan
  9. no, but mine is difficult between 1st and 2nd and then from 3rd to 2nd. feels like the syncros to me nathan

they make great mountain bike tires. good luck with the job! oh and send me a pair of Kenda Nevengals DH in a 2.5x26 size. thanks! :D :D nathan
  12. I can't wait to move there next year... Your pictures are very influencing!! NOOOO! Stay Out! J/K
  13. wow! that is one of the most helpful spring posts i have ever seen. i was leaning towards ome with a spacer anyway. thanks
  14. well the cb worked awesome but those front springs have to go! i picked them up on craigslist and the guy didn't know the brand but they are either skyjacker or rancho and seeing how stiff they are, i am guessing rancho. who makes the "softest" 3" lift springs for the mj? i had good luck with my rubicon express ones before. on the rough aggregate roads, the guys in the independent fronts left me in the dust getting my teeth knocked out. i don't remember my zj riding that rough with a 3" lift. any suggestions?
  15. yeah Oregon is pretty diverse. i can drive 1 hr to get to the beach, 2 hrs to get to snow (mt. hood), 3 hrs to get to the high desert, and i am surrounded by northwest trees where i live. oregon is pretty cool. nathan
  16. Another Backcountry trip today but this time in the MJ! A buddy of mine is leading an Xterra trip this fall and wanted to check out one of the routes first. This isn't a wheelin trip, just some backcountry driving, finding a new way to get from one place to another. Did find out that I want some softer springs in the MJ though! The rough roads killed me. On to some pics
  17. the mj pics will come soon enough. these all predate the aquisition of the mj
  18. well in may of 06 we ran the last section for us which is actually the first section of the trail in cali. by this time i had sold my zj and was borrowing my dads tj. we ended up getting stopped by snow at the first section of trail and then later we actually had to stop following the trail and backtrack to the highway due to fallen trees from the winters storms. pretty frustrating. anyway, here are some more pics an omen of weather to come??? a cool looking lake we saw doh!! our campsite for the night. not too far from where we left the highway  what we woke up to in the morning. a crazy stormy, windy, cold night. great, more snow. man it is may already! a preview of what is to come.. hours of this more snow! silver lake that is all i can find now, i think the rest are burned on a cd somewhere. thanks nathan
  19. these posts are in no particular order of the trail. this is the last section we ran that ends in Walla Walla, Wa. This was in Sept of 05 An old dredger in Sumpter, Or. Pretty neat old town. A very rare OBCDR marker. If you don't have a GPS and the coordinates, you will not make it. Looking over the Grande Ronde Valley near La Grande, Or nathan
  20. Me and some buddies did this trip over the course of several years. It runs from Northern Cali to Southern Washington through Eastern Oregon. Mostly gravel roads, some old dirt roads but all beautiful scenery. More info here http://oohva.org/ This is from our trip in 05. We started outside of Seneca and ended up north a few hundred miles in 3 days. I will be uploading the various pics I have from the years of doing the trail. Hope you enjoy the pics Nathan
  21. DO IT! These things were ment to be on 35's my last jeep (zj) was on 36's so i kinda want to keep this one a little mort street and gas mileage friendly. but you never know what will happen in a few years nathan
  22. cool, hopefully it works ok. maybe in the future i will try and have somebody help me get it adjusted so it is right on but as long as it can talk with a buddy within 1/2 mile, it should be cool for now. nathan
  23. picked up a cheap cb just for trail communications. don't know anything about cb's and i did not tune it so we will see how it works. it will only be used a few times a year. where i mounted it running antenna wire inside mounted. haven't tested it yet but it makes noise nathan
  24. swapped out the thermostat as the mj was only getting to about 165 degrees. put in the stock 190 degree and now it is back at 200 where it should be. also found my speedo gear i knew i had laying around. 31" tires, 3.73s took a 34 tooth to bring it back to stock. i guess a 33 is ideal but according to my gps, it is very close. anyone have a cd player laying around they want to get rid of?
  25. looks great. makes me want to throw on some 35's now! must.....resist......urge to lift more :D nathan
