What would an MJ full black interior go for?
OverlandMJ replied to OverlandMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I like my grey interior but I always Prefered black. I would need a few more things to have a complete interior. Black buckets, center console and headliner. Since its a rare interior I might just grab it and put it in storage for a swap at a later date. -

Not sure if this has anything to do with it but yesteray I connected what looked to be a dis connected vac line from the EGR valve. It connected to the bottom port. Seemed to solve a high idle. After connecting it would run at 8000 at idle. This morning I get in it to head to work and it starts up and dies right away. Did that a few times. Then idles fine after a few tries and then dies a min later. I dsconnected the vac line I hooked up yesterday and still acting up. Like I said starts up revs up and dies right away. I'm taking the day from work to try to fix this. I havent worked on anything other than a cargo light switch and a exhaust clamp. I did notice yesterday while driving I lost power for a split second. Then never did it again. Need to figure this out! Any ideas? This is a 88 4.0 ba/10

Rear cargo light install question
OverlandMJ replied to OverlandMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So instead of cutting the solo cargo light switch bezel in half to use it next to my fog lights, so I have the fog light and cargo light emblem. I just found another cargo light local and he has the switch bezel with both fog and cargo light icons. The rare one. Also has a solo cargo light switch bezel as well like I currently have. I'm gonna grab both switches and light. So i will have 2 lights, and three switches. I figure some one could use a factory switch. I am going to use the fog/cargo light in the MJ and use the other light and switch in the scrambler I'm building. It would work great for camping on the back of the hard top. Cheers -
Rear cargo light install question
OverlandMJ replied to OverlandMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Discovered there is no power to the switch. The switch works fine. Is there any other pig tails that need to be connected under te dash in order to get power to the switch? I really don't want to hardware it. I always thought since I had all the wiring for the switch and the light it would be a plug and play? Thanks -
I just put in the switch and connected the light and it's it working. My question is should this be a plug and play install? Is there a fuse that needs to be installed? I need to check if I have power to the switch. The switch is not lighting up either. Anyone ever came across this problem? Thanks, Gary

What Gearing should I be running?
OverlandMJ replied to OverlandMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It's a daily driver and will be alot of freeway driving. I'm gonna go with 373s thanks guys. -
Ok good,Here's a story for ya, I cleaned my interior Sunday, put the t case in 4h and forgot about it. I have a posi lock and the front axle was not engaged and I drove to and from work with the Fing T Case in 4wd!! I drive a Long commute. Got home heard a noise and I saw the shift lever and and just about lost it. Such a bone headed rookie move. The noise went away until I got to work this morning after a long ride.. Atleast it gives me motivation to put the 242 in, which I planned on doing. Just not this soon. Think I might have stretched the chain. Feeling pretty dumb..ha

I have a knock in my 231 after driving it around. I have a 21 spline 242j. Can I swap it behind my ba10 4.0? What will need to be addressed? Output input shafts? It's an 88 pioneer. Thanks Gary

I have been driving the MJ for a week now. Not sure if this is normal or not. First press when starting the jeep after sitting for a few hours is a tough one, but its easy and smooth as butter after that. Untill I get on the interstate and run for a while. Then it gets harder and harder of a pedel and not so smooth. Not sure if I get a hard pedel when not running interste speeds, been all interste ride so far, don't know if that has anything to do with it. Anyone experienced this before? Was told it has a centerforce. Also a favor if anyone has a pic of the renix 4.0. I need to see the vac line routes. Mine are missing some and would like to see how it is supposed to look like so I can figure out what i need and can use for refrence. Cheers, Gary

I'm running 3.5 " suspension lift with 31's. 4.0 and 5 speed. Wondering what gearing I shoud be running? Dogging it up hills on the interstate. 3:55 or 3:73's? Would like to do a 44 in the rear if not a 8.25 with disks. Thanks fellas. Gary

Rubber bed mat/bed question
OverlandMJ replied to OverlandMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I know how to use it lol.. I use one everyday. What I was hoping for was that I only had to cut the back end if the front of wheel well was the same dimension. I found my answer. -
I stumbled across a rubber bed mat for a long box. I have a short box and was wondering where the extra foot comes in place in the bed? Wondering if it's split in the front and rear of wheel wells. Wondering if I can trim it to fit? 50 bucks. Worth the price? As always thanks fellas! Gary

H3RESQ's Dream MJ, the build continues...
OverlandMJ replied to H3RESQ's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Man this is a sweet jeep! Keep the pics comin! -
Thanks fellas, When I saw this I knew I had to have it! What gearing is everyone running with a 4.0 5 speed? It has stock gearing now and I think id like to jump up to 3:55 or 3:73. I have 4:10's in my YJ with 32's and I don't think I need that much gearing for a DD that will see alot of highway miles. Stock gearing shouldnt be too bad, I'm just curious. Looking into a MJ 44 or a 8.8 and a non disconnect 30. I just want a little extra help with hills but still comfortable running highway speeds and not running too high of a RPM and chugging gas. Thanks guys, Gary

I am happy with how the seats came out. They were filthy but in good shape. The drivers seat has some color left in a few of the seams, just needs a little more scrubbin in those areas. Not bad for cleaning them after work in the dark...carpet too! Soap and water and a scrub brush, then sprayed them down with spray and wash and scrubbed some more. Works good (even on coffee stains)! :clapping:
