  1. It depends on your point of view, doesn't it? I see jacked up trucks driving down the street and I think they look very silly. Not to mention when you see one of these lifted trucks in an accident. I see lowered cars with air bags and I wonder what is the point of going down the street with 1 inch of road clearance. No way to get a decent size bed on an XJ conversion. Also, XJ conversion lacks the proper factory transition to a cargo box frame. The XJ conversion is just a weakened unibody structure with the top cut off. So if you want to convert an XJ to a truck the "proper" way - you should follow the example of the factory engineers. I am quite sure they did the math. Seriously Lowrange2, don't you think if it were just as simple and easy as you propose, the factory would have done it your way? They must have had good reason to do it the way they did - don't you think? What does a jacked up truck or lowered vehicle have to do with this? lol Yes, I'm sure they did it the way they did for a reason. They didn't build a 4 door MJ because they would have to have a 4ft long bed to look halfway decent. Not at all the same thing. Lots of people have done the Cheromanche mod, and you get a vehicle that has a load bed that's no more than two feet long. Now HERE's a nice crew cab XMJ: Meh, then you end up with a hideously LONG land yacht of a tuck. That red "quad cab" looks terrible, IMO.
  2. Honestly, I think it'd be pretty silly to build an Extended cab MJ when you could easily chop the back off of an XJ, close it in and build a tailgate with MUCH less effort and end up with basically the same thing.
  3. Yay! Baby deathwobble at 60mph.
  4. I have a 99 Grand Cherokee. I can mail them to you for $20 shipped. PM if you're interested.
  5. I have a set. $10 shipped. PM if you want them.
  6. Nice. I went to Highschool in Due West. I live about 4 miles from the highschool. You're from this area? No, I'm from down around Barnwell/ Blackville , but I've got several friends that live in Due West. Gotta love that Waggy. I miss my 89. Gotcha. Who are they? I'd imagine I know them.
  7. Saw this guy at LKQ. Never could figure out who owned it. Harmonic Balancer "installer" tool. Didn't know such a thing existed. This stuff did a fine job cleaning the over spray off the factory paint. (Already had it sitting on the shelf) Gave it a bath: It sure is nice to have a truck bed again! Now, if I could just make the OEM paint a little shinier...

  9. Cleaned the over spray off the fenders and bed, replaced the fixed windows with some minty wing windows I had laying around, slapped some late model mirrors on it so I can see, replaced the harmonic balancer and belt, window seal, bent the rear bumper back up, replaced the glove box latch, drivers side door lock cylinder, etc... Lots of little things. Nothing major. For now, I'd like to find a set of nice looking factory aluminum wheels to stick on it and drive it. I'm fairly certain the TPS needs to be replaced. The engine stumbles any time I have the throttle pedal in a certain spot. I can make the engine misfire on command by pushing the pedal to that spot. It also has the typical oil in the air box issue and I think it's puffing a little smoke but not sure why yet. Gotta get that fixed... I need the plastic trim piece that sits on top of the rear bumper. Window seal: Late model XJ mirrors... Ahhh, I can see so much better now. I have dummy gauges, bought a cluster to swap the real gauges from.
  10. I'll pull them out of the trash and sell them to you. :) I'll have Stump deliver, even. Idk how I got lucky. The ad had been up for 6 days when I saw it. I txt him and he txt me back within about 1 hour. I never could get him to call me. I managed to get an address out of him. I told him I'd be there at 6pm and never heard back from him. I showed up at 6pm and knocked on the door and he took me back to look at it. He was a MAJOR pain to communicate with via txt. Turned out to be a younger dude. Maybe 20. He'd replace the truck with a Malibu. lol Where in SC are you?
  11. Rode around the property in it today. Runs pretty good. I noticed a little misfire every now and then. The belt is also squealing like a stuck pig. Pulled the camper top off for now.
  12. IT LIVES!!!! Turned out to be a typical CPS failure. It purrs like a kitten.
  13. Yeah, not sure what else I'll find. Though, it looks pretty much untouched. My goal right now is to simply make it run. Then I'll go from there. I have a ton of things I need to try when I get time.
