Why not spend a little more for drivability and put in ARBs or OX lockers? Or something of the same fashion, ECTED or one of the other...Just a thought. Other than that it sounds like a bitchen build

yes they are legal in JeepSpeed 3 and there will be atleast one running, I know cuz my buddy is running one of his. There still are some limitations (15" trav front, unlimited rear, and motor that was in a jeep, etc) go check out www.jeepspeed.com for more info on it. Grand Cherokees can run Wranglers,wrangler unlimiteds, pretty much anything Jeep. It's about time the MJs got respect! My buddy is actually one of the main reasons Clive Skilton (owner of JeepSpeed) let the MJs in. I am stoked, he is racing a Long Bed w/ a 4.7L V8. He isn't sure if he is gonna run 4x4 or 4x2 yet, but he's paid his registration and got his number. :brows:

The sheet metal change was in 87. 86 they had the V6, 87 the 4.0L Renix came out, which had firewall diferences and the front core support/cross piece changed. But in 87 some (all?) of the 4 bangers had the 86 old style, with the old style radiator. They may have kept this going for the 88s as well? I think it depends on how many left over bodies they had laying around after they went to the 4.0L. What motor did the rig have in it originally? I bet it was the 4 banger...

Wow, I need to get rid of my automatic...I get 12 city 14 highway, I don't drive nice though. Mine is a 4.0L 4x2.5 (2wd tranny, D30 front axle, 4x4 will be finished soon.)

I've been told that DC sold the rights/plans to build the XJ to China. I would buy a "New" MJ in a heart beat, but I believe that DC couldn't even if they wanted to, unless they bought the rights and plans (which I'm sure they still have anyway) back from China. But we can dream tho right? :D :cheers:

Not sure on the backspacing, got them from a buddy and I didn't measure them before I put them on. I would venture to guess that they are 4.5" or so. The lower arms are at 17" from center bolt to center bolt. The upper adjustables arm definatly needed! I set it down with them at stock length first and the blasted thing was ridiculous! I don't remember off hand what the measurment came out for the upper, I just know that the caster angle is good.
