  1. None of this helped.. Added an "oil treatment".. nothing. Tried holding it at higher rpms, the oil treatment, warming it up before driving and running it cold.. happens mostly at lower rpms, and once it's warm.. say, about 10 miles into my commute to work. Seems to be getting worse. Lifter??
  2. Who is this lady!? She's awesome with the site and loves Jeeps.. women like that do not exist... lol.
  3. So, i replaced my valve cover gasket a few weeks ago, and i overtorqued the bolts, cracking the cover by the bolts on one side. Its leaking all my new oil out and burning off.. Anybody have any ideas as to fixing it? Can it be welded or does anybody have one laying around? Local JY's don't have any 2.5's or the valve cover itself. New is $78 according to one of them.
  4. I looked at tires for the longest time and went through TireRacks reviews and decided that i was mostly only worried about snow. Not road noise or dry handling..its a damn jeep..haha. But anyway, i settled on General Grabber AT2's in 255/70 or 75.. they had great ratings for snow and their match in the snow was much more money. Basically one of the best for cheapest. If snow is your concern, these will do great. The reviews all say its worthless in mud...and they werent kidding. Took it on some friends field/woods trails and got stuck on a slick mud incline..... had to work hard to get it out (i also on only have 2wd)..might of helped if i had some weight in the bed (maybe? I don't know mudding..i know to clear the tread out by spinning and such..that helped a little). Rides pretty good over my crappy zero-tread, miss-matched blizzaks, grips pretty good in most stuff.. Just an option for ya. Some bigger sizes are actually cheaper than the smaller ones for whatever reason, too.
  5. Fram, but, made the noise before i even changed the oil. It's not a constant tick either. It varies in frequency and noise level...at idle.
  6. Sounds like I have a lifter ticking on my 2.5... what are my options? If/when it goes out, will it grenade the whole motor or just run like crap? Only makes the noise after a long drive and its nice and warm. Not looking to swap my 98k mile motor for another 2.5, but curious what i could do about this. 87 2.5 and i changed the oil 200miles ago.
  7. New tires solved the problem up to 65mph... thats as high as ive taken it since i got them.
  8. What about a 2.5 on low boost? :hijack:
  9. Oil change New air filter Valve cover taken off, cleaned and new gasket. Ahhh simple :wrench:
  10. Just had to have the Mustang towed last night... which means I'm in a rush to get the MJ going as i start my fancy new job monday. Still waiting on the radiator, but I'm confused as to the closed vs open loop and the filling procedure. I thnk I'm going to leave the coolant in the block and go from there? New air filter as my old one has a decent amount of oil on it...is this something to worry about? What is that valve coming out of the valve cover and what do i replace it with? Plastic tube is broke, can i get away with using correct size hose? Brake lights arent working... what fuse are they on? What else should i check? I have rear lights, and reverse lights. Just no brake lights. Doing an oil change, how much oil? (havent bothered to search this one, just figured i'd throw it in.) Also, i'd like to change the fluid in my 4spd.. what type of fluid should i run and how much? My 87 is just under 100k miles and I'm sure its never been changed. Thanks guys. 87 2.5 4sp
  11. Radiator barn unfortunately doesnt make a all metal rad for my truck...so, i decided if i had to have plastic, id want it from a place where i cancalim a warranty that day if it blows out. And the last radiator i had shipped to me was screwed up. Pain to return. The radiator Autozone gave me was packaged wrong.
  12. Just picked up my replacement radiator from Autozone for my 87 2.5 2wd, and its wrong. I say wrong because its horizontally long, and the radiator cap + overflow goes on the passenger side. My current radiators cap is on the driver side, and the radiator is more square. Whats going on here?? :???:
  13. Well, i had the outer wheel bearing tightened up and it seems to have helped. My mechanic thinks the bearing may have some damamge so, I'm going to have them replaced. I start my new job monday, so I'm kind of in a rush to get things done.
  14. Alright, thanks guys! I'll look into it this week and update!
  15. Tire balance. Tire balance would cause a clunking noise while i push and pull on the tire? :huh???: And Eagle, I'm hoping the alignment/new balanced tires next week will completely fix the issue, as it isnt too bad anymore. But that clunking noise is concerning and to me seems like what maybe causing or contributing to the wobble.
  16. It's an 87 2wd, 2.5/4spd. Trackbar is new. I don't really know what to look for on that mount, but the trackbar fit well when i replaced it, and it's snug.
  17. I've been working on my Jeep getting it driveable. Death wobble has gotten ahold of this Jeep since i bought it. Happened whenever i hit any bumps with the passenger tire over 35mph. Which, in Michigan, that's every 500 feet. Anyways, put new stabilizer, new shocks, new trackbar and sway bar endlinks + bushings (all from autismzone). That helped and i can now get up to 55mph... anything faster gets sketchy. Looked underneath, and can't see anything that shows wear or is loose. However, i checked the passenger side wheel and can grab it at the top, push and pull on it and it will move very slightly and enough to make a clunking or popping noise "inside". The drivers side doesn't do this. Any idea what that could be? I feel like this has to be my issue. I have some 255/70 General Grabber AT2's on order for it, and want to get this fixed before i get the alignment!
  18. Yeah, i saw that. It said something about a repair kit only... whats the repair kit???
  19. No lift. So just the stock end links for a 92+ XJ will work? I'm ordering through summit for sure..so..
  20. I need new end links as mine are just um..gone. They were gone when i bought the truck. I'm looking on Summitracing and they have two and both are at different prices.. I'm confused as to which to get. Any help would be great. Thanks! 21. Thanks! I used "rust killer"/sealant before i put the foam in and found some fiberglass insulation to put in the body cavities.. I ran out because i underestimated how much empty space there was in the damn thing!
  22. I picked up my 87, SWB, 2.5L/4sp/2wd project Comanche the other day.. 98k miles on the thing and it came with a half tank of gas! Going to build it into a great winter vehicle, a trail-ready vehicle and something i can DD when I'm doing something irresponsible to the Mustang. ;) Plans so far are to make it 4wd, put a 4.0 in it with an auto trans behind it. Suspension wise, I'll probably start with a budget boost and throw some 31's on it. Sliders and homemade bumpers hopefully sometime this winter. Hopefully some nice exhaust too. I like the LCG with tires that barely fit look. My plans for this week- hopefully before i start my night shift, 60hr weeks on Wednesday: -Get it registered and insured. -Remove carpet- CHECK! -Fix rust and holes- IN PROCESS [pics coming] -Bedline the inside of the cab: Floors, rear of cab, ceiling [took out the headliner too], rockers, and maybe the outside rear of cab. -Fill empty cab compartments with insulation of some sort- possibly pond foam or jute, i don't know yet. -Go drivetrain shopping!!!! haha. Today's progress: Carpet out Drivers side rust Pass. side rust Rust cut out! Cutting my patch panels Holes to weld into on large patch panel Large patch panel welded in, as well as "Rust Fix" sprayed on all the rust i didnt get wire-wheeled & sanded off. Turns out, i'm a horrible welder, but that panel isnt going anywhere and ill have a real welder put some good beads into it before i line the sucker. Training in the morning, then picking up some materials then getting back to work on the Comanche!!
  23. I checked his website and didnt see any :grrrr: I could've sworn i read somewhere that he made some..
