  1. Thanks man, I actually have center caps for it but I had only wheels on the front and the rear on jack stands Friday while I took the four to have them remounted and balanced, so when I got home instinctually I just started to put the wheels on and forgot to grab the caps.
  2. Thanks guys! I got the steering set right to get my radius back, my sway bar endlinks installed, and bypassed the rear load sensing valve. I am really happy with the finished product and ride height! I attached a photo of the exact fitting needed for bypassing the valve with the 8.8 in hopes it saves others some time getting the right one the first time! I hope all of my pics aren't killing you guys! haha
  3. I sold the small tires/wheels I took off and picked a set of these up at Summit Racing Thursday night. Mounted them up yesterday! 15x8 3.75'' backspacing.
  4. Thanks guys I would but the rear 8.8 needs spacers to be as wide as the 30. So if I run spacers on the front it will make the fitment funny since I can't space the rear any more than it already is.
  5. Thanks man. It's the Rugged Ridge setup, their old style has been on my old XJ for about 2 years with no problems so I got the redesigned style for this. Got the 33x12.50s on, I'm going to need a different set of rims. The backspacing isn't right for the 1 ton steering so I have like 2 inches before it contacts the tie rod end.... :( The cab is right at 6' tall. Beauty and the beast....the beast almost eats the beauty! haha
  6. Condensed into one post above since pic links broke. ^
  7. I hope you didn't take my comment negatively! I just threw that out there as a cheaper paint alternative, definitely keep us updated!
  8. I live in Decatur but there is a place called MiracleGlo in Norcross that I had one of my other cars painted at. They are pretty reasonable for the work they do. I look forward to your progress with it either way!
  9. Today we made some headway with the front lift. We got the long arm brackets mounted and welded in, and we modified the crossmember to work with my Peugeot transmission. Out of the 3 holes on each side for the crossmember to mount to the Peugeot uses the front two whereas the most common AW4 and AX15 use the rear two. So we basically did some trimming and added a plate to 'space' the crossmember back to the two holes I'll use when I install my AX15. Sunday we plan on doing all of the bolt in installation since we ran out of day light today. [img[/img]
  10. They're spacers I had from before, yea they fit great. Just removed the tinnerman clips on the wheel studs and made sure to use a torque wrench on there lug studs so I didn't strip them in the spacer. No complaints so far, but I had them on all four corners of my old XJ with a lot more miles and no issues either for what it's worth. I got the final piece to this particular puzzle today... I decided to go with the Rubicon Express 5.5'' coils. I thought of finding a 6'' to compensate for the bumper and winch after it's lifted but I decided to give these a shot because I've heard nothing but good things.
  11. I am measuring just as you described at the very end which is what I took from the thread below by a member named Hornbrod. http://comancheclub.com/topic/13565-stockfactory-overload-or-helper-springs/page-2?hl=helper%20leaf When I was last measuring I was seeing at most around 12.5-13'' at most depending on if I account for a 1/2'' of sag or not. Thanks for the input so far because I was expecting about the same using that method. Maybe I'll see what I get when I jack it up this weekend and remeasure.
  12. This just looks like a LOT more than that even on stock tires.
  13. You're right, I typed the wrong thing from my note sheet. It is 1'' from the top of the tube to the resting spot of the spring on the perch. I never said they WERE good, only that I assumed they were given the low mileage. This truck sat for a little over 10 years without being driven so I didn't think they would be too bad off. My thought is the downward rake from not lifting the front (IE: needing to measure for coils) is possibly compressing the spring at the front skewing my numbers. I won't have a chance to check this again until the weekend and just wanted to get some input and see if that seemed to be the reason.
  14. Hey guys- I need some opinions on this. I recently SOA swapped my '88 Sportruck with 95K miles (makes me believe the springs should be decent) and after measuring like I have seen instructed on the boards it only appears I'm netting 3.8'' at most if I go with a 1/2'' of sagging. I am measuring from the axle tube to the inside center of the bumpstop, if this is incorrect that could be my problem! Unfortunately it completely slipped my mind to take my own stock measurements, but I used my number off of what I measured afterwards and what the factory height should be. I'm thinking I may jack the front end up and place it on jackstands and see what I get, but I want to get the right front coils the first time! Specs- 1988 4wd Dana 35 to SOA 8.8 I measure about a 1/2'' of height from the tube to the spring perch. Factory 4wd leaf springs Any input is appreciated!
  15. I could reverse it all so far if I decided to! ; ) As long as I don't cut it up or beat the body up it wouldn't be too hard to do!
  16. Well I figured with only 95k miles on the truck they shouldn't be sagging TOO bad. I have a winch and bumper I am waiting to install so I ideally want to have a slight rake (maybe a little less than factory) and account for the weight of the bumper and winch. I was thinking I may need a 6'' coil in the beginning. I think I will just post a tech thread seeing what the general consensus is.
  17. So I'm planning on measuring for the front coils to see what size I need to order. Opinions needed- Should I jack the front end up somewhat level on jackstands and measure my rear height then? I feel the rake could be pulling down on the suspension with the way it is sitting and I want to get the measurement right the first time I ordering coils. Currently the most I am seeing lift wise accounting for .5'' of sag is around 3.8'' of lift.
  18. Good looking truck! I'd love to have the newer mirrors/windows.
  19. That's a bummer man, hopefully it's nothing too bad to sort out.
  20. It's not that I care for attention or anything, it just gets tiring keeping up with threads on all the forums I'm on. lol I meant to take a lot more photos of the install but I just kept my nose to the grindstone most of the night. The worst issues were a rounded off hardlline fitting at the rear brakes and the spring plate centering pin holes not being large enough, couldn't ask for an easier install as far as an axle conversion goes!
  21. Doesn't seem to be a lot of interest, but I'll keep updating on this forum for anyone who might have any questions- Got the rear 8.8/spring over axle conversion knocked out tonight. The front long arm setup still needs to be done, but that'll get knocked out in the coming weeks. Talk about a gangsta lean! Look at that cute little Dana 35!
  22. I had my buddy take some real pictures so everything I had wasn't from my iPhone, but I wanted these before it went under the knife since it is pretty original!
  23. Yea man I plan to get started on the axle this weekend, I can't WAIT to have long arms of my own. :)
  24. For anyone who cares.... Got in my spring plates and shock mounts from Ruff Stuff Specialties.
  25. At this point I have everything I need for a spring over axle long arm lift either at the house or in the mail. I'm going to use a set of borrowed TJ Wrangler coils for the time being to just lift the front to get my measurements of where the rear sits so I can order coils for my height. Ideally it will be around 5'' of lift total. My long arms are Rock Krawler and good god are they beefy! These things are completely solid and weigh about 26lbs a piece!
