I've collected 5 sets of wheels- Which do I keep or recycle?
MJCrusader replied to AMCJeepMJ's topic in The Pub
My first choice would be the wheels with "Jeep" on them...just repaint them (and paint "Jeep" in a different color so it stands out) Choice number two is the Rangers. -
Hibbing. I'm starting at the college there at the end of August. If you want to buy my MJ (if it makes the trip) then its all yours haha.

Unfortunately, MN is just about my last option. Been out of work for a long time and I just can't bring myself to work at McDonalds. I'm sick of the heat, I'm sick of the people, and I'm sick of our bs left wing government. I've enrolled at school in northern Minnesota and have some family out there, so thats where I'm going. But, I suppose I could afford to have my Comanche be my beater/winter/offroad vehicle and buy something else as a more permanent ride.

I'm moving from California to Minnesota within the next month or two and would like to know if there is anything I should know about vehicles in cold wet environments. Is there anything I can do in terms of rust prevention? For instance...if I spraypaint the frame, brake lines, underside of the body and bed, etc would that do anything against the salt on the roadways? Does anything need to be adjusted when the cold weather comes? I know about changing the oil for thinner stuff, but what else? Thanks, Tim

I recently drove to Minnesota and back from California. In driving through South Dakota (apparently big proponents of ethanol) I filled up twice, once in Park Rapids and once in Souix Falls. I didn't notice any big drop in gas mileage. And since I track my gas mileage, I think I would have noticed a 20-25% loss. And I refuse to believe that if ethanol really dropped gas mileage by 25% that we would spend so much money on it as an addative to fuel. If saving resources and money was the goal of using ethanol, why not just make gas tanks 25% smaller? Adding something that saves $.25/gal (or whatever it is) wouldn't be cost effective if you would need to fill up say 5 times a month instead of 4.

:agree: From what I've read, ethanol seems to be a fairly logical substitute in gasoline. Of course, the real effects of its use won't be visible for 10+ years I would imagine.

Think about it like this... could that extra $500 be spent on something useful (i.e. engine work, suspension, new tires, etc)? Our situations are obviously different but if it were me, I would use that $500 to get a couple things fixed and get some random parts that I need.

Here's mine. 1989 Pioneer, 2wd, straight six, and already the new love of my life. Can't wait to get a 4x4 swap going. It will be a long way off but I still look forward to it. Image Not Found

If the buyer of the Cherokee didn't want to replace the doors and got it for super cheap, taking off the doors on the other side would made that Jeep the coolest dedicated off-roader/dune buggy/hunting rig. I'd go there with like $600 and see if he would take $400.

That really is a shame, that Cherokee looks like it was damn near cherry. Having said that, I don't know if I entirely believe that guy's story. I know everyone can have their bad moments, but for a whole fire team to pull that kind of BS seems very unlikely. Although, thinking of another explaination as to why they used the jaws of life on the Cherokee is escaping me.

Jobs have not been too kind to me in the last year or so here in California, and if I can't find one soon I have plans on moving on to another state. Before I pack up my new MJ and make a cross-country tour, I want to do everything I can to bring my Comanche up to peak running condition. I am planning on going through my MJ and cleaning out/replacing some/all of the following: EGR Valve IAC Module TPS Sensor Intake Air Sensor O2 Sensor Fuel Injectors However, seeing as how I have been out of the job for so long, cash for parts is pretty much non-existant. So, cleaning these parts is going to be my main goal as opposed to replacing them. Does anybody have any tips/tricks for cleaning out these parts? Is there anything else I should scrub out? Is it even possible to clean them out or are they parts that just need replacing? If you've pulled these parts for either repair or replacement, I would appreciate any help you could give me, as the Straight Six is a brand new engine to me. Thanks, Tim

I keep seeing members talking about what to do if the hood release breaks, and that it should be lubed regularly. But, I haven't seen anyone say or post a picture of what should be lubed and what it should be lubed with. Can somebody go into a little more detail for me? Thanks, Tim

Haha that song was so awful. Makes me wish commercials were still made like that though... In fact, makes me wish trucks were made like they used to be. Oh well.

Oh cool, that should be pretty easy to find in my area. Is 78-79 the only years that will work? -

Anybody have an idea where I can get them cheap? This truck has taken more money than I planned to spend already haha
