  1. They are going for under $500 buy now. Do yall think its worth it? Id like to turn my Comanche into a Rubicon someday lol D44 front / back, arb locked.
  2. Whats the definition by alot? If id use it, it would be on one of my 2-3x down a trail per month. I been playing offroad in my jeep for almost 10 years now and I havent "knock on wood" needed a winch yet. Although, I havent been really offroad hardcore, just 4wheeler trails, humvee, and tank trails on base.
  3. Has anyone used this winch? I hear they look similar to Warn winches and are really cheap. $330 for a 12,000lb or 10,000
  4. would the rain rust the engine?
  5. I been looking for along time and can't find anything on this. When having hood vents installed, and it rains, could the rain mess up anything on the engine, sensors like TPS, electronics? In not worried about cutting holes in my hood, just worried about the rain under the hood. I'm about to install some hood spacers and Maybe 2 vents. Where should the vents go on the hood? near the rear of the engine?
  6. Image Not Found I was thinking of doing a bedside exhaust like that. I just havent found a... "that blue/black " exhaust piece. Where the exhaust mounts to the bed part. I really like that MJ!!!
  7. Right now my muffler ends at the beginning of the bed "LWB". I'm preparing the MJ for worst case, stuck in deep mud/water. I'm not 100% sure if shutting off the engine and letting the water into the exhaust piping would do anything, or mess up the engine. So my question is, what do yall recommend me routing the tailpipe to keep water out if i get stuck and have to stop the engine? I was thinking, stop the tailpipe soon as it aims down after the rear axle. I'm not doing a smoke stack. lol
  8. Thanks for the input! I will try to remove the wiring and reconnect the wires back to factory locations this weekend. And Ill report back lol
  9. My driver side tail light works fine. My passenger tail light only lights up when the headlights are on. The Front turn signal on the passenger side works too. The only thing is the passenger tail light blinker and brakes don't work, all lights are fine. I replaced all the bulbs and flasher relay that's next to the fuse panel. Before the front passenger didn't work either but replacing the replay made the front work too. I am very confused. When I went to replace the stereo, their was a rats nest of crappy wiring job that was done and wasn't even necessary. Their is another crappy wiring job for the trailer light connector too stuffed into the rear bumper. I'm thinking my problem is the trailer harness wiring.
  10. I have about 3.5" lift, with stock lower control arms, and 30.5" tires. I just took off my plastic OEM fender flares and I still have to cut like maybe 1" of the fender behind the tire because of rubbing. Put the 32" tires on and turn the wheel side to side and see where the tire contacts the fender.. Cut until it clears is the easy way.
  11. If you were to ad hood vents, would the rain dripping on the engine mess with any of the plugs or sensors? Where would be the best place to put the vents? My Jeep stays mostly around 210, but in traffic, it climbs and I have to rev the engine to lower the temps.
  12. I put sound dampning on the whole floor to try to keep the heat out. I got a new stereo, tomorrow I'm going to attempt to install 6.5" speakers in the doors. I cut the fenders because they were bothering me and painted the ugly 16" wheels flat black... XJ parked next to me.. mines bigger lol This weekend i gotta try to fix my rear passenger brake / single lights.. don't work.. And going to put the rest of the sound dampening on the roof under the headliner. Could yall give me some ideas for the ladder rack? I'm keeping it for camping, and expedition stuff.
  13. Do you know what the stock rear height from fender to center wheel in inches??? I just installed 2" rear shackles and just curious where I'm at now in the rear.
  14. The plastic ball thing is inside the engine bay. It came like that when I bought it. Ill try to find the vacuum lines today and see whats going on.
  15. I have a feeling this should be a easy fix but I really have no idea. lol The defroster, windsheild vent, is only blowing. The upper and lower vents have no air flow. All different fan speeds work.. Anyone have an idea? Also I have, new in packaging, AC lines. I would like to install these and have AC. WOuld I just install the new lines after vecuuming out whats left in the old system, and just recharge it again? or do I have to convert something?
  16. The wiring in my MJ is... ruined, from last owner. Do yall think it would be alright for me to directly wire the stereo a constant 12v and ground, and just turn off the stereo when not using it? The last owner had something rigged up like that.. the little red light was on 24/7 and all you had to do was hit the power button to listen. No keys required. If yall think I should try to wire it the right way. Could someone please show me a wiring diagram for a 1988 MJ that you used. I been looking at different diagrams all morning and they are all different.
  17. So ... 2-1/2" lift. 2" is what I consider the maximum lift for staying with the stock track bar. If you add 1-3/4" coil spacers, you'll be at 4-1/4". My '88 had a 4" lift when I bought it, and the axle was about 5/8" off-center. I installed an adjustable track bar to correct that. So should I go with 1.5-4.5" $129? http://www.roughcountry.com/catalogsearch/result/?cat=0&q=xj+track+bar
  18. I got 20 inches exact from center of front hub to bottom of stock flare. Also I got to meet Frankenstein? Today at the Auto skill center on Ft Benning. He said he hasnt been on in awhile... His MJ is seeeexxyyyyyy lol
  19. I have original flares. Ill measure this afternoon when I go to the Auto Skill Center. So 17.5" is stock?
  20. On my current MJ, it came with a lift already installed. It has 30.5" tires on it already, and I believe I could clear 31" with no rubbing. I have stock lower and upper CAs. How can I tell what size life is on it? Do I need a Adj. track bar? I have RC 1.5/2" shackles and I think 1 3/4" coil spacer I want to put on but IDK if I need to upgrade Track bar yet. And if I upgrade that, IDK if I should go with http://www.roughcountry.com/catalogsearch/result/?cat=0&q=xj+track+bar. I eventually want to be like 4.5 total lifted.
  21. I forgot to put this.. I deleted alot of vacuum lines on my 90 Eliminator, I kinda deleted most on this MJ too but, this MJ isnt modded like the Eliminator was. Sketchy! Jeep club here in Ft Benning, we all have these badges on our Jeeps.. Had to get mine too hahaha And here's a pic of the bedliner I sprayed un before I had the seats installed.
  22. Okay, I been working on this Comanche all day. I took out the interior "carpet and seats" and threw them out. I checked the fan clutch, it looks new actually and the bolts look new too. Must have been changed recently I guess. I let it warm up and I tried stopping the mechanical fan with a board, that didn't work so the fan clutch must be good. I watched the temps rise past 210 and the electric fan never came on. Tomorrow I'm going to get tags, registration, and some other stuff for the trip. I gotta check if it's the rad temp sensor??? or just put in a switch and relay to turn the electric fan on myself, I'd prefer the switch.
  23. Both fans are working though. But ill keep this in mind next week when i can see this in person.
