  1. i havent even tried yet actually. tomorrow is my day off though :brows: when i pulled up the carpet the first time, i didnt want to go too far in depth because my girlfriend was coming down to fl for the weekend and i wanted her to see this thing clean for the first time in years and be able to drive it. she said, and i quote, "it was a great coming home gift to see the comanche finally being taken care of and running, let alone be able to drive it" now shes back in ohio and the registration is expired so now its time to go to town and really turn it around :wrench:
  2. let me rephrase my original post... i have a 4spd 4x2. that is an AX-4, correct? or is the 2wd 4spd transmission different?
  3. i don't know much at all about converting to 4x4 other than that i want to do it. ive got the 2.5 with a 4spd....now I'm wondering (because ive heard of the 2.5 with a 4spd and 4x4) is there a Tcase that just bolts up to the AX-4, making it an easy conversion for me? what all do i need? I'm a noob here but I'm sold on keeping my freebie and converting :help:
  4. Seems like an easy fix ;) haha I'm really hoping so....i still havent been able to see everything yet. i want to keep the carpet in one piece, itll clean up nicely. but the problem is the seat mounts are pretty bad. i think all bolts are rounded out and rusted, plus one has a socket rusted to it :headpop: so i need to get the bench seat out before anything begins :help:
  5. i can MIG...just don't have one i went to a trade school studying auto collision repair/refinishing so replacing the floorpans are right up my alley
  6. okay so i just ordered my oil cap. i am staying in a hotel in ohio visiting my girlfriend so hopefully itll arrive by the time i get back to FL. and i just found a lil somethin else of interest on ebay... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1984-96- ... 1071wt_732 just in case this ebay listing expires by the time anyone sees this or even cares, its the front floorpans for an MJ for $45. it says its 18g and i doubt its a nice snug fit, but it is fresh sheetmetal nonetheless so a lot better than Flintstone style :wrench:
  7. Brevard county on the space coast (still new to jeeps, and have a non-registered/insured MJ so no wheelin yet)

    what price

hard to say without pics, but i would post more than that ...with an 8 inch lift? i know you're all jeep guys, but ill trade ya my 2000 jimmy with 120k for it haha :clapping:
  9. i have a feeling I'm gonna have to replace and rerun all the vacuum lines lol. my girlfriends dad was just crazy and i think he kinda winged it everytime a line got old. so many don't even fit right. and they don't match the diagrams either haha...they kinda run laps around the whole engine bay in some cases where is the line from the very bottom of the airbox supposed to lead to? mine goes up the fender, along the firewall, up next to the valve cover, and ends right there between the carb and valve cover :hmm: ..and my line from the MAP sensor goes to the throttle body with no t junction...is it supposed to? (minus the no t junction part)
  10. haha i like that never noticed that "jeep" upside down is "beer" You never noticed it because its not. To be clear: the original poster just purchased a sticker that spells Jeeq when placed right side up. Funny nonetheless and the vast majority would have no clue! Good buy! haha yes, good buy ..and i logged on really quick since i was up really early playing musical cars in the driveway to let family members go to work so i must have read it upside down with my eyes closed trying to figure it out

    what price

sounds like a sick XJ...can't wait to see pics
  13. the chrome may be too much but IMO hornbrod has one of the cleanest MJs ive seen
  14. I'm considering a 4bt swap as well....if any swap, that is. its just a thought, but i got a buddy who swapped a 4bt cummins in his ranger and it went pretty smooth for him so i at least would have someone to turn to with questions
  15. sweet thanks  thats weird cuz i followed one of them right back to the bottom of the air box...i think :hmm:
  16. haha well the funny thing is, we met because we both were in the bodyshop at a trade school. so we both work on cars. i graduated from that program, and she went off to college in ohio. those of you who have ever taken any kind of automotive class at either a high school or college probably heard the reps coming in to talk about "UNOH" or the university of northwestern ohio. its the one with "limaland" and has all the racing clubs and whatnot. the school also has an offroad course and i think an offroad team too. shes up there now studying high performance motorsports and our relationship is long distance for the time being. so honestly, getting her to help me with the project would take no effort at all....if only she wasnt a thousand miles away. as for the steering column, the only thing thats inoperable right now is the blinkers (which were broken before), the hazards, and the fact that the key is needed to turn it on. oh and theres no steering lock. but it is a GM column and my uncle has one from an old cavelier so eventually, it will be replaced. but for now, theres no problems. ive driven it the way it is...which doesnt even matter anymore because the registration just expired so it is basically just my time killer for the weekends until i come up with the money to move to ohio. but until i move, i won't be able to do all that much to it because i need most of my money to go into savings so it will be a slow project.
  17. a couple little (and i mean little) things to add to my progress. i found the oil cap on ebay for a couple bucks :typing: and i removed all those stickers (except the "KTOC" one) from the back window  looks much better now
  18. its a good idea, but my passenger side (the one thats just about falling off) has a hole in it. my girlfriends dad drove extra screws through the shell to mount it in all 4 corners. and the hole isnt just a screw hole, but a good quarter sized hole from the plastic cracking. and i don't remember what its for, but theres some sort of gasket or rubber along the outer edge? probably just to seal out moisture but thats pretty crusty and falling off on both...
  19. i would have already pulled em if i had the $50 at the moment. just finished paying off tuition and am also going to ohio to visit my girlfriend from the 23rd til the 1st so thats costing me about $500 ill have to go back and find out the price though...
  20. wow never would have guessed they were that much bigger sooo next question...anyone got some 'manche taillights for sale? haha just kidding...i have no moneys right now. in fact i know where to find some, if anyones in central FL there is a junkyard on SR50 between Titusville and Christmas. there is one lonlely comanche sitting in a field of cherokees and i believe both taillights are there. i didnt think to look at the lights when i was there last so i don't know what kind of condition theyre in
  21. so i just started pulling up the carpet. i knew the floor was rotted out because i could see the flaking from underneath. i can't get the seat out because the mounts are rusted and theres actually a socket already rusted on to one of the bolts. but here's what i found when i pulled it up to the seat.. driver side pass. side (not quite as bad) at least it all stops once it gets to the tranny hump its pretty bad, i know :ack: but it is the only cancer on the whole truck besides the bottom centimeter or so of the doors and tailgate. and those don't even go further than the pinchwelds
  22. okay, here's what i need to know. I'm not a mechanic so it may be obvious to some of you theres two lines coming from the intake right above the carb. one of them leads to the bottom of the air box but I'm not sure which one. the other, i have no idea where it leads to
  23. ehh well....worth a try
  24. that just might be exactly what i need...ill throw some pics up later anyways.. thanks
  25. just out of curiosity, anyone know if cherokee taillights would bolt right in? my passenger side is about to fall right out and the driver side isnt looking too good either. cherokees are plentiful in junkyards but comanches are hard to come by. plus i kinda like the look of a cherokee taillight better anyways...
