  9. Yes that shaft i can move up and down and has a clunking sound
  10. Okay so i took everyone's advice and i found the clunking noise is in the u joint on the steering shaft it looks like a bear to replace any ideas? And could that cause my vibration? I don't see how it could but i am not a great mechanic, Also the motor mounts seem okay to me when i use a pry bar i can move the motor but not excessively Also do i just replace the u joints on the shaft or do i replace the whole shaft? 1990 MJ 4.0 2WD
  11. Thank you everyone i will keep you posted!
  12. When i move my steering left to right i hear a clicking sound from the gear box or the arm coming off of the box and i can't find a vibration at 45 mph and above is it possible that it could be a gear box causing the vibration I have new tires balanced 3 times it steers great i had an alignment done twice suspension seems tight I am at a loss any suggestions would be great 1990 4.0 2wd no modifications
  13. I replaced my speedometer cable 1990 4.0 2wd and now it bounces back and forth and from what i am reading you have to shorten the cable Does anyone know the perfect length i don't want to keep removing from the cluster due to the plastic clip that locks it in
  14. Could that cause the vibration from 45MPH and up?
  15. why would you have to replace the balancer?
  16. nothing is worn excessively but when it hits 45 it vibrates i have had the wheels balanced twice new tires shocks brakes it steers great no play in the wheel i definitely feel it in the wheel
  17. well it brought to light a couple things is it possible that the arm coming off the steering box could be worn? its a solid piece and i can't see how it would wear out also there is a little play in the arms that connect to the tie rods but definitely not much find it hard to believe that little play can cause a vibration?
  18. Thank you my wife is going to be the "helper"
  19. i will double check the suspension again i have to be missing something will keep this thread posted Thank you everyone!
  20. i have had it balanced 2 times and even the rear view mirror shakes a little i definitely feel it in the steering wheel again new tires ball joints seem tight Alignment shop says tie rods are good
  21. I have a vibration over 45 mph I have replaced tires i have had the wheels balanced twice replaced sway bar links shocks all the brakes ball joints appear to be good and tight Tie rods are tight 1990 Comanche 4.0 2wd no modifications at all. Some people tell me to replace the steering stabilizer then when i look on line it says that would not cause a vibration. looking for recommendations please
  22. i just replaced my cable and due to the plastic clip broke that attaches to the cluster now my speedometer is erratic i think it reads correct but it jumps around (back and fourth) i had to cut the square end where it goes into the cluster because it was to long but i matched it to the length of the one i took out any suggestions? 1990 MJ 4.0 5 SPEED
