  1. Holy crap!! The 4awg kits start at 200 bucks and up! Don't know why they're so expensive...
  2. Ahh you guys are awesome! Thanks so much for the links and details. I'm going to run with these. The truck has no carpet because of some rust issues. I have winter plans for the sound deadening. Would be a good time to fix that damn manual window crank before I cover it up Thanks again for all the info, this makes it way easier to just dive in and get it done :)
  3. Yeah? Guess I could start with some new speakers, tweeters and skip the amp for now. See how it sounds. If I want a subwoofer, does that require an amp? Seems there's some with amps built in, I suppose that would be enough for a basic setup.
  4. Hello everyone, I'm curious if anyone could suggest a kit of sorts. I bought the head unit: Pioneer MVH-S322BT and it's bluetooth which is all I really wanted and seems to work flawlessly. But the old speakers sound like sh*t haha and I can't hear it well on the highway so I think I need an amp. Everything is stock, don't think there's any tweeters and there's no rear speakers and no sub. So I was hoping someone could just give me the parts they used that all work together nicely. I'm not an audiophile, I just wanted something that sounds decent, has a little bass and some richness. I realize this is so opinionated, just my level of interest in learning audio equipment is like -1 haha I just want the mid range decent stuff that will all work together. I wish they'd sell a kit for a Comanche I'd just buy it for convenience. I also realize mixed reviews on running with no rear speakers, I'm fine going without those. Lastly, for context, my daily is an 04 TJ with 2 very dinky 60$ speakers I put in 15 years ago. They are complete sh*t, wanted the ol truck to be better than this XD. Budget is preferably 600 or so (already sourced the head unit) -- this number lands kind basic midrange for okay enough sound I'm guessing??
  5. Lol it's an auto so it's beefier on the tow rating but I suspected as much with the weight being an issue. Just a bummer these new trucks are flat out stupid for how much they cost. Oh well, it shall remain a little project around town kinda truck.
  6. My MJ is bone stock but it has the inline 6 with an AW4 tranny + 4x4. No added features and the gearing is kinda lame (it's slow lol). It's also sitting on the D35. I've used this truck to haul all sorts of stuff in the bed, loaded it with about 1400lb payload which is max and it did just fine other than my saggy leafs :D. Anywho, it doesn't have a hitch yet but I'll get that eventually. I'm playing with the idea of towing my TJ. I don't feel comfortable with a big trailer in the back. This little truck is so light I thought that would be a bad idea. But I'm curious if it could safely flat tow the jeep. The TJ sits on 35 inch tires and has metal all around so it's heavier than stock. But I thought...maybe if I get a break assist system it would work fine? My thought was to simply two with all 4 wheels down...but maybe a tow dolly would be safer? I'm simply considering this cause I like the idea of taking the TJ places but it's kind of rough after like an hour of driving. This winter I plan to get my truck cab nice and comfy and get A/C installed for next summer. Could be a cool rig to get us out camping with the benefit of the TJ to do some exploring. Dream trip would be 30 hour drive to Colorado and hit the trails for a few weeks with the TJ. But more likely I'd stay local with 4-6 hour highway trips for long weekend visits.
  7. Good point, I didn't think of that. The length seems fine, I'll see if they can balance it for me then. I'm looking at repair details. I've replaced the pinion seal on my D44 on the wrangler and it was interesting but not super difficult. The dana 35 seems about the same but I'm not getting why it's leaking at the pinion nut itself. That doesn't seem to have any washer or seal to keep fluid in. None of the videos show putting RTV on the splines like you might on the TC side. I guess replacing the pinion seal would fix my problem of it leaking at the center/nut area?
  8. hehehe the hell if I know, PO said he did stuff to it but couldn't say what. Judging by your reaction I may be best just sourcing some stock shafts XD
  9. Also how do I know if my transmission mount is too loose? I noticed when I grab the rear driveshaft that I can visibly move the transferase up and down. Seems like the mount is spongy, I thought maybe is some rubber pad and it's supposed to have some give but that doesn't sound right given the purpose of the driveline lol.
  10. Looks like it’s just leaking on the front yoke of the NP242. Curious about this yoke coming off the D35. It seems to be coning from the pinion but area and not the pinion seal in the axle. Is that a thing? (Pic)
  11. Guess I didn't go far enough down the list in my search lol, thanks!
  12. Hello again! I'm going to be crawling under the truck tonight to disassemble and inspect. Fill plugs on that t-case are leaking but it's also leaking through the yokes. Not sure if it's both or just one. I recall the PO said he messed with the driveshaft but he couldn't tell me what exactly he did. It had a 3" lift which I've removed. It was some crappy RC springs and such. I think the leafs are stock. Anyway he was so vague and couldn't really remember what he did so now I'm thinking I need to confirm my shafts are correct, especially since I brought it back to stock. Do you guys know what a comanche stock setup is in regards to driveshafts? I plan to pull tonight and I can grab some measurements of mine. I'll snap some pics too maybe someone can spot something. Thanks!
  13. What is this about? Don't get it. What's the high level point of this?
  14. I haven’t removed them yet, I never installed them. I put a wrench on them initially, they’re pretty tight but I haven’t confirmed torque yet
  15. Hey Guys, I'm about to clean up some leaks under the jeep. This transfer case is leaking pretty bad. I cleaned it up when I bought the truck and as best i can tell it's coming out of the fill plug. It's also got a pinion seal leak so it's a bit hard to tell. But if my plugs are leaking how do you fix that? It's not supposed to require teflon tape but I thought it might help as it seems like NPT threads? Not sure...
  16. Good point, it can definitely use a clean. I'll hose it down, I currently have a leaky pinion seal. The spray of grease and oils all over the underside might be the reason most of this truck isn't rusted out
  17. Great info, thank you for this. I can build with this info. Think I'm just going to swap that steel line for a rubber hose. I'll hook it all up and see how it goes before I bother replacing that canister. The DeLorean one is a bit to pricey to just swap it up for fun. Also...why are there more delorean parts available on an easy to navigate site than the Comanche jealous!
  18. Venmo started as an app to send money to friends generally. It was easier just to send money that way for shared expenses or roomate stuff among people you know. I wouldn't suggest it for spending big money on things or sending money to strangers (like I just did, hi pete! ). These days it seems people use it for rent payments to landlords and running small businesses. I will warn everyone, if you keep a large sum of cash in venmo they have the right to hold your money without recourse. There's been MANY horror stories, usually businesses, that need access to large sums of money in venmo but the company determines some security risk or legal problem and they lock these accounts for 6+ months with no legal recourse. I don't recall how this happened but the company's response has never been trustworthy and it's not a one off problem. Only keep small sums of money or no money at all in your account. They cannot be trusted. Lastly, if you bring in $600+ through venmo per year I do believe you're required to pay taxes on that cash. Government is cracking down on all the cash apps. Again, mainly for business accounts and the like. Not sure about personal. I rarely use money portals like this these days, it just adds to the complexity. Today "reputable" banks are pretty good at moving cash (especially the online ones) and everything else can be done via credit card.
  19. But that would require cutting the bottom off the canister and gluing it back together with new charcoal which doesn't really sound worth the trouble if there's other canisters out there that work well enough. They don't appear to be serviceable other than the replaceable screen filter which is good to replace but doesn't do anything for soaking up gas fumes.
  20. Hello! I found a bunch of old threads about this but none of the links work anymore. I can't seem to find any OEM parts either as they're discontinued. Curious what I should do, my canister seems original so I thought it could use replacement. What led to this is the fact that the rubber hoses are rotted and not even connected. I inspected the steel line running to the tank and it looks rotted, near death if it's not already. I'd like to refresh the whole setup. I'll see if i can put eyes on the little elbows at the top the tank but I'm assuming those are okay. What parts do I need to complete this entire setup? I also notice mine doesn't seem to have any check valves (maybe built into the elbows at the top of the tank?) or a solenoid to purge. This is a 1990 comanche with a 4.0 from a '98. Current symptoms are strong gas smell randomly when parked but very strong gas smell in the cab when I fill the tank. Goes away as soon as i start driving. If this parts are such a pain I may just fix the rubber hose ends and hook it back up and if the smell goes away then I guess I'm good till that hard line quits.
  21. I've never paid a forum or any site donations. Not even wikipedia but this forum is so nice compared to most and has saved me boat loads of time and money. Happy to help keep it running, I sent via venmo. Hope it made it, or I paid another comanche club somewhere in the universe. Money well spent either way
  22. Awesome! I'll hold off and see how it goes for you. Mines currently leaking in a steady rain but it's not a DD
  23. Been looking around for something, decided to bite on the crown one since everyone is talking about it. Do you need to buy 2 of them or does 1 cover both doors?
  24. Love the pictures in your threads. Speaks a thousand words, I'm starting to gain a better understanding of the whole system. Love it when complicated stuff slowly starts to break down to simpler pieces which makes it much less daunting to troubleshoot. Thanks!
  25. Wait, just so I’m clear…you don’t ever need to replace the charcoal inside? You simply replace the mesh screen piece? I would think the charcoal degrades over time….mines probably original.
