  1. Been having over heating issues with my jeep. started over the winter but wasn't really an issue due to the cold helping me out. I knew both fans were toast so I replaced them and still have issues. Last summer I did the radiator and water pump and thermostat. I am thinking that I might have a bad thermostat. Here is what it's doing, heats up to 210 avg the fan clicks on which is good but temp continues to climb. its been doing this for awhile and some times if I blip the throttle the temp will drop back to normal. Thoughts?
  2. Duralast=duracrap i'll never buy it again. Typically I only use bendix but have used raybestos with good results aswell. Rotors I buy what ever is cheap as most are made in china these days

  11. rear is sold, sorry.
  12. no problem. i literally just sold the rear on ebay so looks like its the end of the road for this beast and it will get parted. good luck in your search.
  13. I have offer on the rear, are you interested in the rest? I would rather sell whole. Have not checked under carpet.
  14. here are some pics: http://rides.webshots.com/album/5785811 ... host=rides the truck is rough and solid at the same time. solid in the sense that structurally it is rust free. rough in the sense that it is not pretty and needs TLC. its probably worth more in parts than whole. during the winter i was willing to take a lot less, but now i am back up to $800 price. looking at the price of rears, seat brackets, tail gate, tail lights, etc + scrap the rest, i feel this is reasonable. it starts and runs every time, 4wd works, needs LOTS and LOTS of tlc, it leaks everything, radiator is shot engine, engine bay and frame rails are covered in oil, ac-delete truck, heat works, d44 rear, bucket seats but the interior is trashed. let me know what you think.
  15. i've got one here on long island NY, but likely too far away for you. i was looking to get $450 with the drive shaft. complete drum to drum and has factory posi.
  16. i've got a solid one here on long island NY, but it needs some attention here and there. 4x4 and rust free generally don't go together in the north east  .
  17. open the hood and tap the blower motor with a wood stick or what ever you have handy. do this with key on engine off, and make sure the blower switch is on.
  18. i have d44 long island NY
  19. i have bed on long island NY, its in really good shape. see my ad in the for sale section.
  20. ok so the 96 was not a good donor, but i found an 89? is this a good deal ... guy is asking $550 http://longisland.craigslist.org/cto/2030937966.html
  21. can you run the late column with the old wheel?
  22. i was able to hold back and not buy a complete (but t-boned and missing trans and transfer case) 96 xj for only $250 ... if anyone is on long island NY and needs a good donor for axles, interior, body, motor, let me know and i will put you in contact with the guy. he is scrapping the truck this coming wednesday. should i still buy it? he will have it until wednesday.
  23. thanks for the detailed info. agreed, with all that effort might as well swap to the 98-01 body and controls, but i kind of like the older body style look to these. i think if i can get the donor truck for $150-$200 it would be worth it because i could break even on scrapping it. also, sorry for another newbie jeep question, but are the stock axles on a 88mj or 96xj and good? at most this would be a snow truck in the winter and a beach truck in the summer.
  24. You couldn't wait even ONE hour before bumping your post? We're pretty friendly around here and we all try to help one another, but we don't all sit here 24/7 waiting for a new post to answer. Be a little polite and give people a chance, eh? :agree: only pete and rob are hear that much :rotfl2: apologies, i guess i am getting antsy to start working on the jeep, and my first instinct is to collect information, then parts. i promise i won't be the guy on the board who bumps to top for more views, and i definately won't be the guy here who corrects people on their use of spelling, grammar or word choice :D
  25. please help, i am looking at the donor truck tomorrow and can get it cheap.
