ZJ lift plans Just making sure!
tazer15 replied to tazer15's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've ruled out these springs even for longarm I don't even know what brand they are.I'm going a diff route for now till I get him a longarm.Prob do V8 ZJs and some shackels in the rear that with trimming will allow him to wheel 33s for now that's perfect for his first rig.I will use the extra $ to lock and gear it I've found a local aussie and yukon carrier for the front.Ill run 4.56s sleeve and gussetts lock the rear D44 and hell be set. -

I think I'm going to make him a longarm for it ill be doing one for my LJ in nov and ill just do his at the same time.I may just ask the guy to buy his springs.I knew 6+" was a lot for Short arms but fig it was only for a short period might as well wait and do it all then. -

Are you sure?the ZJ has a 4.0 I was thinkin that would get me about the same??? -
I have found a local selling his ZJ ironman 6.5" springs and lower arms cheap $170.I'm looking to get my sons truck lifted as low cost for now and get him wheeling as we have already gone past budget. He will save for a longarm as he wheels it.I'm thinking and have done some searching as I see it those 6.5"s and a SOA in the rear with some 1" shackles should be getting me real close correct?Anyone have a link to the chevy drop shackles I can use for this or anyother ideas other than that would be great too. Thanks P.S I like that these springs are 6.5s as we can use these with his longarms and save $ later hell need all this lift later down the road as hes planning on running 37+ and axle swap

-
Yes for 91 92 they also have a backing plate that goes behind them that is about the size of the sidemarker light.I found the bezel new online but can't find the plate that's goes behind it
-
as it reads need the surrounds and backing plates there is 2 pieces to these I have found the headlight surrounds new online but no backing plates. So I will try and buy as a set before I buy the new ones and still don't have the backing plates or whatever their called???

Really?I thought it was a longbed this whole time! Ya for a short bed i can see that 200 miles per tank is about right being its only like a 17gal makes much more sense.Besides the fact I thought you had said before you had gotten 12 to 14ish. -

I should also point out my leading factor on a cell is getting more fuel capacity. I only get 200miles to a tank currently and want/need more, or I will have to bring jerry cans for some adventures 200 miles?what size tank?stockers are 23gal in a longbed right? -

I agree....but I'm not done yet. If you read above, I am tubing the rear bumper as well. I am in a mind arguement with myself on the front bumper. I'm not sure if I'm going to replace it or modify it. The front bumper is just plain and boring......we will see. Yes adding something would be ok I like it the way it looks now too.If you sell it let me know see what I can do. -
Nice brett you have a great eye sense of detail that i wish i had more of I'm so picky but never get it perfect the way i want it.And it seems you do it every time.I'm gunna have to read your whole build sometime soon but for now howd you paint inside of your frame?Stick the gun in the rear end of frame and squeeze the trigger? :D

Damn!Gunna have to rip it off and go with square tubing. :wall: -
That also go's for all iron or steel because it holds onto water. But I have no idea what I would do for your hood. Try putting your ? Up in the tech section so it gets more eyes and maybe an answer. Brandon Are you talking to me?I don't have a question I know how to fix mine.I explained the reason I mentioned silicone In an above post.

Bravo man that thing is just sick! :ack: don't stop keep goin but take some time and get some wheeln in.don't forget pics though. -
Do NOT use a silicone like around this it will cause rust. Brandon :agree: no need for silicone to install these hood pins :hmm: Mine are rusting inside the hole i drilled in the hood only ben a month I'm using chassis saver to seal it all up.I said silicone because most don't have chassis saver and i didnt realize it caused rust my bad iver never used it I was tryin to think of some thing to squirt up in there to fill up that hole??????

here's a pic of the other side and what the whole truck looks like now. I need some colorado red rattle can if anyone knows where to get it I need to match the panels better until I can get this thing painted 87warrior said hed send me some he had but it didnt match the best i guess ill try it first
-
I guess these arent the best pics in the world i really thought you could see better my bad I'm just a terrible computer guy sorry. Tomorrow ill do a little more cleaning then this side will get good ole chassis saver and monstaliner over that as some of this will be exposed for good I'm not replacing my rockers or cab corners in the traditional way.I'm gunna build my rock rails up into the cab where the rockers were and a small square of diamond plate will be welded in the place of the corner and plated on the bottom. here's my next chore the other side and I'm going to trim the fenders front and rear I hate to trim all that rust out of the rears thats a BIG cut but I don't think i have any choice as its so bad I have to remove the inners as well.Any ideas? :ack:
-
Got my dash out finally found mice skulls more droppings than i care to think about and they had made a nest of seat material that completley filled the vents! :shake: took headliner out backing is in decent shape ill fix it up myself later I started on the cancer in the cab corners Ill be doing my own fix for these meaning i won't replace with other corners LOTS of grinding! Bare with me here their not in order its such a pain to post pics in this forum I'm not used to doing it this way and i suck at it!
-
YES! side marker bezel thats what i need i have a 91 header grill and everything installed but the headlight surrounds don't line up without the marker light beel/backup behind them. Thanks thats what ill search. :clapping:
-
Not the most tech question in the world here but ive searched and can't find anything.I have put a 91/92 header panel on my sons 88 and cannot get the headlight surrounds to fit back on.He took the old one off so i wasnt there watching but says there is another piece that bolts behind the headlight surround to the fender then the surround bolts to it.Anybody have a name for this part so i can search for some?Or a link?

My vote is for the filter in the cowl as i have a setup like this on my tj its called a MCAI but they go alittle further into detail than that one.It seals the whole cowl compartment you cut your vent in the middle out another filter goes there and then a air damn/ram air vent lookin :dunno: thing goes on top of that. But they do use a red tubing thats pretty flexable kinda like a radiator hose type feel.I have heard neg about using metal tubes all they do is get hot but you can also wrap them with header wrap.My jeep sounds better gained 1 to 2 mpg and seems to have slight bit of power. You can only hear it thru the vents when it first starts up and the colder it is the louder it is it disappears after a few miles. But sounds really good and your most noticable diff is on the hwy about 60 and you push it to the floor.I wish i had seen that erics xj write up if you have seen mine you can add to his what mine has for a little more $ and be in one pretty cheap when you consider mine sells for $350ish i believe. Is it worth $350? no but making youe own for under $200 yes!
