  1. we were going to sand down rust and start priming and cut out the fenders but brett offer us his bed, front fenders, hood, doors, and grill so we took him up on that offer
  2. tore carpet out floorboards look pretty good actually
  3. thanks brett here's more of when we first got it and some progress pics this is one good thing about it.. D44. fixed the major oil leak with a new valve cover gasket, cleaned up the motor, it looked horrible, replaced the battery cables, terminals and battery. started tearing truck apart
  4. OK here it goes and bare with me ive been working this for couple weeks already so ill post pics and get you caught up as fast as i can.i will be doing this along with my son Lil Taze as i bought this truck for him.Thats where it starts i promised him a comanche a couple months ago after a long search and several comanches i found him one for $500!oh how smart i was  i saw 2 pics of the truck on craigslist looked good talked with a man named JEB(the hillbilly) from the hills of missouri.he told me the truck was not all rusted out 4x4 worked and ran great just needed a battery/cables starter alternator/belt and swaybar bushings and i was ready to go.he lives about 6hrs from me and i was in a hurry to buy the truck he was getting other calls.he told me he was headed to kc to pickup a motorcycle that coming fri and could just meet me there that saves me 4 hrs.i of course said yes but an unexpected thing at work caused me not to be able to go until i got off.he was going to be there and gone by then.my bright idea was to call 87warrior and ask if i could have the truck dropped off at his place for a few hrs till i could get there to pick it up.he told me that would be fine.i then wired hillbilly JEB $500 he called and said the truck had been dropped off we were square.as my son and i pulled up in kc he was very excited to say the least. We got out of the jeep in the dark and the outside of the truck showed some rust then after some flashlight inspection showed alot of rust and an oil leak that had gone on for i bet 10years.we opened the one door that worked and the smell of cat/mouse/rat pee and :headpop: hit us in the face.i started thinking what did i just do?????????????? and wondering what my son was thinking how disappointed he was.i was in a bind and it was getting late i had to get back on the road home so after a fight we got the truck loaded onto the car dolly good thing my grand has a hemi  ya thats right i said HEMI! i had to force the dolly under the truck him driving and me pushing wasnt getting it on the trailer.Pics on the way by the way this is a 88 pioneer 4x4 manual 4.0 longbed 250xxx miles with factory air
  5. you have a pm
  6. doesnt that eat up some mpg and wear front parts out faster?this truck is a mess need it to last till next summer for my son till i can build it.but ya $60 for a used factory one and $170 for the after market fix is little steep. anybody want a $500 comanche?
  7. i know theres a cable fix for these but this truck will be forsale soon or will get axle upgrades so i don't wanna spend the $ on it.does anyone have a stocker laying around?thanks
  8. yes its still there because its a trainwreck i drove it.and yes i use searchtempest within 500 miles the one I'm asking about is the only one left or worth looking at mostly 2wd or trucks that don't run it needs to run its gunna be my sons daily driver slash our project together as I'm in process of 1 tons in my rubicon i don't have time to try and get a truck running good idea about misspelling ill try that thanks guys
  9. well those tires will come off as soon as i get it comanche axles won't handle 33s let alone those hawgs! :D rocky road doesnt make long arms i will take off their front spacers which leaves me with OME front springs then i will remove their extended shackles replace with some stock sized beef.all that would leave me with thats rocky road is their perches for the springover and shocks for the most part.trust me guys i hear what your saying i was/still am little worried about this rig after talking to him several times i feel little better.i also feel all the other even stock comanches ive looked at are somewhat basket cases.I'm stuck on what to do i cannot find any other jeeps their is nothing around here and thats 500miles away.my worry about this truck has lead me to posting here and jp forum asking for someone to go look at it.ive had one guy that live 3hrs away say he would what a great guy! but i don't have the heart to ask him to actually do it. p.s hes lowered his price to 1500 seems pretty firm there if he goes to 1200 or 1300 it will prob be mine
  10. i have more details: rocky road 6" lift, ext brakelines, shocks, used it 3 times or so offroad, doesn't have time. front axle was blown when he got it. put new richmond gears in it along with got rid of the vac operated 4x4 the CAD (i think is what you guys call it). added a posi in front instead. new muffler and pipe. new crager wheels. 2 front tires are almost new thats about all i remember. he only has putted around town little that's why hes never balanced tires or added swaybar. needs radio and does have 200,000 plus miles. best way to contact me is email or call/text 3167653737 tj15w@yahoo.com
