  1. Lets try to help Wildman out... It worked!!
  2. Well the 2.8 starts faster then ANY of my other Jeeps...I am amazed by it. It does burn LOTS of oil though. The tranny is iffy (according to the previous owner), but it works 99% of the time. I don't want it to be a show truck. I enjoy driving around in it, and want to preserve the truck...even if its not factory quality. I think I'm going to try to save this one. I will need ALL of the help I can get from you guys though. Sorry JeepcoMJ...I'll be keeping the interior for now 8) :brows:
  3. Well I liked the suggestions from JeepcoMJ and CW, and went out and took some pics. I think its definately salvagable...but it will be TONS of work. Most of it appears to be concentrated in the cab. You can see that the cab corner on the drivers side is GONE, but on the passy side, it is still solid. The floors on the drivers side are shot to pieces, and the upper "frame rails" are shot too. On the passy side, I think some sanding and some painting along with some new floors would take care of the problem there. The rockers on both sides are rusted and fiberglassed...I would need some new ones. On to the pics! Drivers cab corner and rocker pannel. Mild bed rust on the drivers side. Passanger side rocker/cab corner. I have checked from the inside and there is NO fiber glassing here. Drivers floor  . Passanger floor. Frame. Not too bad for the year. The bed is spotless...great shape. SOOOOO what do you guys think? Salvagable? I have been offered a welder for my birthday, and I have my eyes on a Hobart Handler 187 220v MIG welder for repairing this truck, and making things for my 1988 MJ.
  4. 97+ XJ's are 29 spline 8.25 axles
  5. does your raer end get hung up much with the LWB?
  6. Hey CW, is your gas tank skid stock, or did you make it? Do you have any pics of it?
  7. ITS SOA!!! I'm so excited! I still have to make some shock mounts and weld them on, then bleed the brakes. I added new shackles with the springs (see pics) and everything went together as easy as pie! Another of the D44 The new perches went on perfect, and everything lines up. Shackle angle is pretty good I think...especially with the longer shackles. After pics!!
  8. Well its fine for the lift, its the tires that cause the problems. You have options though; Ford 8.8 Chrysler 8.25, Dana 44. If you lock the D35 with anything larger then 31's and wheel, then you could possibly have lots of trouble.
  9. I don't take offence to any of that! I'm glad you posted. Actually, I did it at my neighbors house, and he watched over me while I did it, and inspected them afterwards. He does a lot of welding on farming equipment...so I trust his judgement. I did grind it smooth so there was clean metal where it was being welded. I even ground off some REALLY bad welds, and tried them again. I don't want this to sound sarcastic..because I think it might, but: do you think that the way I did it with my neighbor there watching over me was ok?
  10. I love the new stance. Very cool!
  11. congrats :jump: See in a liberal state, we need to have it insured, and registered before we can get inspected. And the laws are so scrict, they prob won't even allow my MJ into the station to be inspected. Oh yeah, congrats on getting everything together!! It must feel good!
  12. SOA D44 anyone? Those are my first welds. I think they look alright ??? Dirty would be proud....I did that with a stick welder :brows:
  13. Yeah, I pulled up the carpet, and the floors are SO bad. The frame rails are even on their way out. I'm just going to pull stuff off, and bring it to a JY. I The bumper is in decent shape, other then the surface rust on it. I'll let you know if I decide to keep it or not. Roll bar is NOT for sale :brows:
  14. Well I discovered that the drivers side cab corner is rusted to $#!+ and might be too much for me to handle. I'm going to remove the carpet and seat today to see what else is hiding under there. I'm a little worried that I might end up junking it because I just don't have the resources to fix it up.  :hateputers: :headpop:

    Good news!

I think I remember it....but do you have any pics to refresh my memory? :brows:
  19. Works now! Yeah, it was just the starter click. I charged the battery that it came with and it started after only 1 crank! Maybe the 88 MJ battery has become discharged?
  20. I've done that, but I will go do it again just be be sure that the terminals are not the problem  .
  21. Gawd I've only had it 14 hours and it already decided to drain the battery and refuse to start. I put a known good and charged battery in it and *click*. Pics are uploading now.

Do we have a bittorrent user on our hands? Maybe my favorite program of all time. Oh yeah. I actually use uTorrent, but its pretty much the same thing. I love the program. I havent bought a CD for so long. Most of the music I download isnt really worth buying so I don't feel that guilty about it. And most movies I download I also purchase so I can watch them in other rooms.

I had a 20gig iPod, then it broke. I sent it in for warrenty, got another one that broke 3 months later. That was about a year ago. I used my phone (LG VX8100) with a 1gig memory card and head phones. It worked pretty well, but there were things that I didnt like about it. In the past 6 months, I bought a 30gig iPod video that I use daily. When I finish my homework at school, I am able to listen to music, or watch 300 (yes the movie 300) on the iPod. I also have that Russian Mudding video and The Exorcist on there too. I am running low on space though and only have 3-4 gigabytes left.
  24. Yeah, I run mine with 10W40 and what Eagle said sounds right. About 40psi around town and 47psi on the highway. When I come to a stop it goes down to about 17psi.
