  1. Reach out to Dan at Tri Starr LLC in Seneca Falls, NY. His email is sendingunitguy@gmail.com. www.tristarrradiator.com. This guy is the best, he rebuilt my Comanche sending unit and it's like new. I also installed a new Bosch fuel pump while I had the sending unit out and everything is working great.
  2. Just switch the wires on the sending unit, this will fix it. Before you re install the sending unit back in the tank, connect the sending unit wire up under the truck and move the float up and down, as you move the float the fuel guage will move and you can determine if it's working properly. I heard some guys say they had to install the XJ fuel guage, but we just switched the wires and worked just fine. The problem we had with the stock MJ fuel tank is the pan in the tank is on the left and the XJ models the pan in the tank is on the right. This means the XJ sending unit will not work in a stock MJ fuel tank. The sending unit float for a MJ points to the left and a XJ the sending unit float points to the right. I hope this helps.
  3. Here is a pic of my 18 Gal tank after painting with the eastwood rust converter and then rust encapsulator and finishing with the silver tank pant. I had surface rust on the top of tank and around filler tubes. Will never rust again! http://www.eastwood.com/rust-solutions/treatment.html if your tank is badly rusted It's cheaper to just get a new tank, they are still available. Here is a pic of the inside of the tank just for reference. For the Comanche fans that change their fuel pump without dropping the tank, this will give you an idea of where the fuel pump sits. The rubber gromet on the sending unit sits in the holder in the pan.
  4. The one on the right are the ones they are selling for a Comanche, they are only for a Cherokee. The Comanche is the one on the left, much longer unit.
  5. New fuel pump sending units are no longer available for our Comanche. You may find ones on Ebay that say they are for a Comanche 18 Gal tank, they are not correct. They are for a Cherokee only! The Comanche SWB 18 Gal tank has a sending unit that points to the left. The Cherekees point to the right. You can get a new fuel pump and it will work on the Comanche sending unit. If your sending unit and fuel tank is rusted and not rusted all the way through. Get yourself some rust inhibitor and rust encapsulator from Eastwood. Wirebrush the rust and paint the rust, it will stop the rust in it's tracks. make sure you wirebrush the ground connection good on the sending unit, be careful not to break the connection, just clean it up. When painting the fuel tank after rust encapulating it, you should paint it with the Eastwood silver tank paint. Your sending unit can be salvaged by cleaning the varable resistor with electrical cleaner and rubbing a pencil eraser over the contacts to clean them. To get your gas guage to read properly, like to show full when your tank is full. Just loosen the screw that is holding the plastic holder that is conected to the float. Move the plastic holder forward a little and tighten up the screw. This will lower the float and will now show full when your tank is full. Before installing the sending unit back into the tank, connect the sending unit wire connection back up to the truck and move the float by hand, you can then look at the gas guage to see that is it working properly. This will save you from having to remove it again to make any adjustments. I hope this helps you, I will see if I can find some pics !
  6. I checked the door sticker and it shows 6 1992, looks like my Comanche rolled off the line in June of 1992. Does anyone know the actual month the last Comanche was made in 1992?
  7. I have a 1992 Jeep Comanche 2WD Base Model from the Toledo #1 Plant. My serial number is 191365. Is there anyway to tell by the serial number if this was the last 2WD model produced?

    Cargo Light

I have a 1992 Comanche base model and I am looking for a Cargo Light If you have the wiring and switch that will help. I would like to install a cargo/brake light but I am having a hard time trying to find a flush mount setup. If you know where I can find a flush mount cargo/brake light setup please let me know.
  9. You guys where right. The hose turned out to be for a rear wiper unit. I have a MJ and this hose it not used. I checked out a XJ the other day, that hose connects to another hose that runs to the rear wiper washer. Thanks guys for the help. By looking at this XJ with the same 4.0 6cyl engine I was able to find out what every wire was for that is not connected on my MJ. My MJ is a base model 5 speed 2WD so I do not have all the extra's.
  10. Automan 2164, yes you are correct. I am talking about the rubber hose with the white line and the plastic pointed end on it. My wiper fluid works fine. I do need to find out why my wiper blades do not drop all the way to the bottom of the windsheild when I turn them off, they stop about half way.
  11. There is a tube that is not connected to anything. It has a plastic cap with a hole on the end, looks like a vent tube maybe. My trucks runs fine, I was just wondering what it may be for. :dunno: 1992 Jeep Comanche, 4.0 6cyl, manual 5 spd, 2wd short bed. Here is a link to the picture. I also found other connections that are not connected to anything, I created a album with pics of all the connections. If you could help me with these other connections let me know, I will send the links to the pics, thanks.
  12. Thanks Chris.
  13. Yes, That is what I am looing for. I am new to the Jeep Commache, I am hooked. I am starting to see the Commanche is also a MJ and most parts from a XJ will fit, is this correct? Do you know if any of the below links will fit a 1992 commanche? http://www.autopartsdeal.com/catalog/?N ... _search=Go or http://www.autopartsdeal.com/catalog/?N ... 642&pivot=
  14. Yes, they are plastic and are at the bottom of each door. I do not have a picture since they are missing from my vehicle. There are screw holes still left in the door where they where. I will take a picture and post it back up showing the missing items. Thanks.
  15. Any body selling or know where I can get the cab back board that goes behind the bench seat, where your jack is stored. Grey interior. I am also looking for the map holders that go on the driver and passenger doors in grey. Thanks,
