  1. Hey guys! I've recently done an engine swap from an 87 2.5l to 96 4.0l running on 88 renix FI and accessories all on my 87 4×4 SWB. The header is cracked, the TPS needs replacement, and I have a 95 head which would allow me to benefit power from the improved design and porting of the HO intake manifold and TB (to my understanding). I did a search and didn't find much info on here, but if I missed it I apologize and hopefully someone can point me in the right direction! I have 4.10s from the 2.5l, so I do indeed use my higher rpm range and will benefit from more HP from the HO intake manifold and header. I'm wondering if anyone has done this and what else I must change? I've read stuff about having to adapt either TPS or IAC for the TB, which is it and is there an aftermarket solution available? Does anyone know if the renix fuel rail and injectors work on the HO intake manifold as well as fuel pump, vacuum lines, sensors, throttle linkage, air box etc. In short what needs to be changed if I'm keeping the renix ecu and wiring harness. Hoping it's mostly just replacing connectors haha 😂 I'm starting from scratch with sourcing these parts so is it worth spending the money on aftermarket air intake or header (looking at the ATP Challenge Y-Headers 101212). Thanks in advance for any advice or direction you guys can offer, have a great day!
  2. Thanks for all the input guys, $150 for spicer gears seems like a deal to me, and I planned to put in all new bearings anyways. I looked through rockauto's.selection of gears but somehow missed that set, I'll definitely go that route. As for the limited slip, mine has the factory one. Do they still manufacture clutches for them? My dad's got a TrueTrac in his ZJ and it's awesome, they're just very expensive. Again, thanks for sharing you're knowledge. It's much appreciated.
  3. Hi everyone, I'm currently in the process of swapping a 4.0 into my 87' 2.5L, and (lucky me) the parts truck I bought came with an original Dana 44. I've got some differential vibration issues that are certainly NOT driveshaft, axle shaft, wheel, or drum related, so something internal is unhappy and it's time to upgrade. The problem is that my Dana 44 has 3.07s, and my truck is currently set up with 4.10s and so I need to replace the 3.07s. I'm running 31s and like low gearing to begin with so I'm not concerned about the higher revs I will get. I also don't feel like touching my front diff. Anyways I read that there's a case split at 3.73 and I would need the thick style ring gear, but am wondering if I could use a factory Rubicon 4.10 gearset (there's a set available locally for $150. I know this is probably a no, so then my next question is can I use a Rubicon 4.10 carrier and pinion in my MJ housing? If not, I'm curious to hear what you guys suggest! Thanks in advance, have a great day!
  4. Thanks very much @eaglescout526, I appreciate it
  5. It would be awesome to see a build sheet
  6. 1987 Jeep Comanche Base 180105km on odometer 2.5l/ AX5/ NP231J / D30 w/4:10s / D35 (also w/4:10s) / SWB Build date: Unfortunately all the info on my sticker has gone yellow and is unreadable. Current Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Status: Is currently off the road/uninsured but will be this coming march. Notes: My MJ is so base that it has no audio system from factory and no passenger mirror! I plan to change that sooner rather than later. It also rocks a root beer brown exterior paired with a bandaid coloured interior. Upgrades I have done: 4wd swap, Teraflex 2wd low range, 2" shackle lift rear, 3"spacer lift front, yj brake lines front, yj lifted brake line rear, extended load sensing unit arm, extended swaybar endlinks, Rancho RS5000 shocks rear, Stock JK shocks front, 31's on base cherokee rims, tow hooks, factory underhood light, v8 ZJ steering, power steering, full gauge cluster, K&N filter, courtesy lights, Euramtec b-pillar lights, new headliner and sunvisors, ZJ pillowtop bucket seats, wagoneer dash, some of cruisers renix tips, new fuel tank, new sending unit... am in the middle of installing an ACC carpet Upgrades I plan to do: Tonneau cover, full length center console out of a 97+ to obtain cup holders, tilt steering column, interval wipers, cruise control, a set of bassett or polished AR172 rims, sliding rear window, period correct buckets (ideally from a wagoneer), fog lights, rough country control arms... Owner history: I purchased this comanche from my shop teacher who had it donated by (I believe) the original owner.
  7. Me and my dad figured it out, it was a combination of things: 1. Check that the headliner is not covering (even slightly) any holes that the push pins go into. If there is any, cut it out as it could possibly get caught between the edge of the hole and push pin preventing it from grabbing. I used a small exacto knife blade, worked really well. 2. Check that the weather stripping is really pushed in where the a pillar goes. 3. Make sure the sheet metal piece(s) that hold in the headliner are bent in as far as possible. 4. Replace the push pins if there are any signs of damage. 5. Loosen the two screws used to hold the a pillar in before pushing in the push pins as it will allow for the a pillar to move into its ideal position. 6. After getting the push pins back in place, continue to hold the a pillar in place while you tighten the two screws to assure the a pillar doesn't move when you let go. If you have this issue, follow these steps and you should have success If not, then I would assume your a pillar has bent out shape over time and may need to be replaced
  8. The a pillar trim. Its hard to see in the picture but the trim bows down away from the roof. Same issue is inside, but I couldnt get a good angle.
  9. Hi all, I recently got my headliner/sun visors done and reinstalled. Looks awesome, except for the fact that my a pillar keeps popping out of place at the very top. There are two push clips/pins/screws(?) located on the back of the b-pillar and they are both in good shape. So its unlikely that their the issue. My dads been able to get it into place and it stays for about a minute, then bows back out. Has anybody had this issue before??? Thanks!
  10. Hi all, I've got an 87 Comanche that (for whatever reason) was ordered with the speaker delete. Now the times come to install a sound system. I've already got a kenwood head unit and pyramid 150w amp that I was given, now I just have to figure out speakers and where to put them. Ideally I wouldn't have to cut into my door cards, but if it must happen, it will happen. I've heard about tucking them under the dash and securing with zip ties, and about installing them in the kick panel. Any thoughts? And is there still wiring for the radio and speakers in a truck with the radio delete? Also, I would love to hear your opinions on which speakers to get, I don't want to spend much more than a hundred bucks. Thanks!
  11. Hey @fisher, what wrecker did you find that comanche at? I'm thinking of grabbing the sliding rear window. Thanks in advance.
  12. I just got myself a set of euramtecs. I love the fit and feel, but have an issue with the switch. Up= on Middle= on/off with door Down= on Correct me if I'm wrong, but its supposed to be this way: Up= on/off with door Middle= off completely Down= on completely Has anybody had this issue, any help would be much appreciated!
  13. Hey @NEO auto, do you by any chance remember the colour code of that carpet? Thanks in advance.
  14. Check out the bed rails, visor, and sport bar(is that what its called??) https://abbotsford.craigslist.org/ptd/d/abbotsford-west-1989-jeep-pick-up-truck/7533808760.html
  15. I was measuring the overall length Thats what I was concerned about. Does anyone know for sure the length or have one they could measure?
  16. Hi all, Sorry to revive an old topic, but I was looking at lift options for the rear of my comanche and found this set of belltech shackles. They say their 13" long. If that is true, and comanche shackles are 8.5" long, does this mean you would gain 2.25" of lift. So far I've only been able to find shackles that will net me 1.5" of lift and I'm looking for around 2". So this seems too good to be true. Does anybody have any actual experience with these and are there any other options for 2" of lift other than add a leafs. https://www.belltech.com/belltech-2-or-3-quot-drop-leaf-spring-shackle-6401.html
  17. I wonder how he did a 3.5" shackle lift
  18. Does anyone know how the variable ratio works; what tells it to change? Thanks
  19. Ive got the opportunity to buy a steering box out of a 97 v8 laredo ZJ and am curious to know if it bolts right in. If so, what are the differences? Ive heard that they have a variable ratio, is this true? And would I be able to hook it up so it worked in my AMC truck? Thanks
  20. Thats a good looking truck. Has it got 31's?
  21. What size lift and tires are you running in that picture? Thanks
  22. Does anyone know if a canopy off an early nissan pickup truck fit on one of our trucks? If so, how do the angles line up?
  23. Thats unfortunate, but good to know. Thanks for all the help guys.
  24. 3" lift in the front, on 31×10.50" tires
  25. I'm looking for a SWB Comanche canopy. It can be any kind: aluminum, fibreglass, or softtopper (I know their for tacomas but they fit nice), high or low top, etc. I'm located in BC (up in Canada) so I know this a really LONG shot. But hey, whats to lose? Thanks
