  1. I have no idea if the oil has ever been changed. I know very little about the history of my truck. I'm new to the engine repair stuff, I'm learning as I go. I'm going to try the engine cleaner stuff first. Then pull the oil pan and clean it out the best I can. Has anyone had experience with pulling the oil pan?
  2. I made a little progress today. I managed to remove the rockers and push rods and gave the old 4.0L a good cleaning (Not fun!). I know a little crap oil fell into the pushrod holes, so I flushed about a gallon of oil down the ports to flush it. I still need to clean the rockers and push rods, but I should have it back together tomorrow.
  3. Got any updated pics? I finally got mine. It's currently torn apart in my garage getting a tune up. I'm still with out a title, but I'm hoping that I get one soon.
  4. I picked up a chiltons. Is the Haynes any better? I'm still searching for a set of factory manuals for 1988.
  5. Thanks. Sounds easy enough.
  6. I like the look of the commander flares, I wonder if a set would work on a comanche?
  7. I have no problem removing anything, it's putting it back together that is the fun part. :D Are the rockers hard to adjust?
  8. Thanks. I picked up some Mobil One 10W30 today. Now I just need to clean all the old sludge out of my engine.
  9. Any mechanics out there? Is there any easy way to clean up this mess? I have never messed with a truck this old. Is this normal for an old truck with 125,000 + miles on her?
  10. I would trade in my Rubicon for that. I'll take mine with a HEMI please! :D
  11. Great I think I got a little carried away with mine. Is it possible to ruin the belt by getting it too tight?
  12. How much is tight enough??
  13. Anyone know the proper way to torque the serpentine belt?
  14. It's the intake ports manifold that are diffrent on the HO's. The header will bolt up but, there will not be a provision for the EGR cross over tube so you will have to block the opening in the bottom of the intake when you pull the EGR tube off. Also you have to use the 88 O2 sensor , the 92 sensor works diffrently . You might want to check the threading on the O2 sensor bungs to make sure they have the same thread pitch . Hope this helps :D Can you still pass emissions without the EGR tube?
  15. Where can you have a spring pack made?
  16. Looks good. How soon can you make one for the rest of us? :D
  17. Which oil are we suppose to use? 5W-30 or 10W-30? I don't have an Owners Manual.
  18. I bought it for only $30. If it doesn't look right, I won't be out a fortune.
  19. I found one on cardomain. I like the way it looks from the back but I'm not too sure about the side profile. What do you all think?
  20. There is a place on Ebay that sells a custom molded one, for around $90. Email Steve at customheadliners@bellsouth.net. Maybe we could get a discounted group buy rate??
  21. I have an opportunity to get a black rear bumper from a 2000 S-10. Can I make this bumper fit without too much modification. Has anyone done it? Pictures? I only have until 11am today to get it.
  22. Thanks again for all your help. I never relized it would be such a headache to get a lost title. If the truck was stolen, they would have already reported it and the detectives would already know, right? I get the truck some time today, I can't wait! I've wanted a comanche for a very long time. I have a ton of parts already sitting in my garage. Should I wait before I start fixing her up? If I can help out with the title chase in any way, just let me know.
  23. Welcome Bonkers. This site is loaded with information. I talked with JJ and he should be delivering the truck ("Sapphire" ) tomorrow. :D Any word from the ATU on the title issue yet?
  24. I finally got another shipping company. They will be picking it up by next friday! :D
  25. Nice. Can't wait to get mine. :D
