ok i have made a 90 ax15 fit behind a 2.8/3.4 . it was alittle work but i made it happen. ok first i got a90 cherokee 4x4 trans,a 98 tj front bearing retainer and a dodge dakota 96-00 bellhousing. took the bellhousing and front trans housing to a mechine shop. had 3/8s of the front ot the bell and 3/16 off the rear of the bell .on the front of the trans i had them take off an 1/8 on the outer edge only ,leaving my bearing surfaces alone. i ordered a clutch disk from KY clutch . ok at this point you can install your ax15 behind you 2.8,3.1,3.4 and a few other motors i dare not mencion. ok now to the trans mount . i took a 3/16 plate and drilled out my trans patten and my cross member pattern into the plate. for an isolator i used 4 shock bushings and washers ,above and below the 3/16 plate. works well so far . ok now to the transfer case linkage,,, i used a 93 cherokee lower linkage(from the t case to the cross arm) bolts rite up .now the bracket that bolts up to the tranny is to short....ok turn it over and cut it in half, use the upper half of it ,bolt it to the trans using the bolts on the center of the trans.its perfict :wrench: ok now on to the input on the t case 23 splines, long shaft ,is what you need in the np207.ok by this point you can use your ax5 shifter in the trans. every thing else is a bolt up item. drive shafts front ,,will bolt back in as is,,,rear ,,remove 1 1/2 inches for mine as I'm running an amc 20 in the rear . i hope i have explained this as corretly as possable,,,if it works for me ,guess what ,it will work for you

well i got the bell housing and tranny front housing back today. a 3/8 off the front of the bell and 3/16 of the rear of the bell, and an 1/8 off the front of the tranny to bell housing face. i came up with my 3/4 into the end of the crankshaft as i was looking for. an 1/8 spacer behind the flywheel ,will allow mt clutch disk to be splined up 13/16 of and inch,,,almost a full spline up. i do have pic on photo bucket now for this write up and will post them tomarrow. along with a step by step write up thanks guys :wrench:

ok its a known fact you favor what you run. but if you had to swap up what would you run, ill go first . my 35 dana went south faaaast after sitn in the swamp fo a year(before i got the truck) so i found a metric ton amc 20 package dressed it well. you know disk brakes, mossier one peice axles,a detroit locker, yukon 4.10 gears and some redline 75w140 lube. how about yall fellas................
-

well geonofast.. you are part right. no i didnt kill it with a 2.8 (if you read the 1st post) ITS A GM PREFORMANCE HT3.4 SHO sho stands for super charged hi output ,punchn 280 hp and 308 torq to the rear wheels and have the dyno slip to prove it. the 2.8 altho dependable couldn,t pull the hat off your head. :rotfl2: granted i drove it for 9 years before a full restore. the 3.4 is 190 hp over a moded 2.8 but in a bolt in package... as for the ax5 SLUSH BOX ive had my wife kill 1 in the front yard in my rock garden . yea rock garden in lousiana. this is just my preferance and have seen many many ax5s bit the dirt on baby stuff .ask any jeeper ax15 blows ANY AX5 to ****

:thwak: ok i got my solution today at my local machine shop. thank god i know the owner well . here's what ima do ok the 96-00 dakota bellhousing ...we gona mill a 1/4 of the front,a 1/8 off the back. on the ax15..the front housing where the bell bolts up theres a 1/4 inch riser there ..it is gona get milled out for a total of 5/8 this should ..in theory give me my full spline into the clutch disk and 5/8 of an inch into the pilot bearing. I'm supposed to getit back later this week .ill try to post some pics so the rest of you 2.8 guys can stop killing those cheasy ax5s  as i have
