  1. Here I sat, fat dumb and happy with the little white beast achieving a "stage1" status (daily driver capable). Looking forward to a summer of air conditioning and planning "stage2" (lift, gears, lockers, tires yada yada yada). Then I find this thread and Moab being the ultimate goal for the little beast, there goes my relaxing summer. Time to catch a couple o gears and get to work again. Count me in. O the little beast, 91 short bed 4x4, ax15, 4.0 Only rust is far has been under a strip of body moulding but that went away when I cut the lower rear quarter to make room for the bumper.
  2. Really? try searching for "AC to a non AC truck" What would be really cool, if on such occasions as this a LINK was posted... just sayin
  3. Couple of recent posting in the Phoenix area craigslist, just in case anyone is interested in a deal ... http://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/cto/3647833610.html http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/3687328519.html
  4. Pulled old bumper, removed spare tire winch, plotted/planned fabrication of new bumper and tube tailgate/spare tire carrier...
  5. Exactly, the outer layer of the hose had rotted away, the clamp was loose and it disconnect it's self... New pump and all better, it runs, time to get on with getting all the little nit noids put back where they belong.
  6. Jumper power to the ballast resistor, the pump runs and fuel flows into catch container. Questions; 1. When turning key to ON, how long is relay energized if no start is attempted? 2. Is relay re-energized when cranking engine? 3. Does ECU energize relay to supply power to ballast resistor when engine is running? I'm thinking; 1. 2 seconds, just to top up fuel pressure. 2. Yes. 3. Yes again. If my assumptions are correct, 1. is good but pump does not run long enough to pressurize system (we have been sitting for a very long time), have to check on 2., can't check on 3. cause it won't run ... yet. First step, re-install fuel filter and jumper power to ballast, pressurize the system.
  7. When I turn the key on I can hear the pump prime but then it shuts off and I hear the relay click in the engine bay. The fuel filter has been removed but there ain't nuthin coming out. I would expect the pump to keep running and splooge gas everywhere with the filter removed? What gives? 1990 Comanche, 4.0
  8. Greetings all, I have been lurking for a while but I am about to drag some of the irons from the fire and get on about making the little truck road worthy. So it's time to start posting a bit about my project. It's a 91 Pioneer, 4x4, 5 spd, 4.0L, no A/C, no major dents, plastic bed liner and about 130,000 on the clock. I have changed the leaking header, water pump, idler pulley, had the alternator rebuilt, added a A/C compressor, replaced the air handler with one from a 92 cherokee, replaced the radiator, added an electric fan, threw away the front header panel (appeared to have been in a slight fender bender, breaking all the plastic mounts), scrounged a set of buckets and mounts, scrounged a set of rear disc brakes (they were on a grand cherokee sitting next to a comanche in the junk yard, I had to grab them :brows: ) that I can't use (finally crawled under my comanche, D44 ). I have new carpet, new rear window, new front header/grill yada yada. I am going to chuck the bumpers and build some. I don't have much for pics so far, not one to keep a camera handy. I do have ones of the passenger floor board (to much stuff piled in the drivers side), Pete tells me Comanche floorboards don't care of they are in Arizona, I must respectfully disagree :D this is what they all looked like at one time.
  9. I went to the dealer, item #6 is no longer serviced and there wasn't one in their parts network...
