  1. It's working again. MSN did an auto news article on the Gladiator, tho in the end.. recommended the Comanche.
  2. Hmmm.. seems post may have been altered. Weird. Check it now. https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/news/why-wait-for-the-gladiator-when-you-can-buy-this-jeep-pickup-today/ar-BBQLHQP?ocid=ientp Glad.. iator to have a Comanche.

  4. I considered doing that. So far the Copper 90 elbows & adjustable bands are holding great. No leaking.
  5. I see. Heater bypass caps. Nice! Had I only known 15 yrs ago I wldn't have made a set out of aluminum. 😎
  6. ALL. I searched some to see if a write-up/post had been done on this topic. Didn't find one. Or I missed it. Here goes... Have a 20+ year old Comanche? Cherokee? Smell Anti-Freeze in the cabin? :o Anti-Freeze as we know is highly toxic to the human body. Breathing it can cause eye & respiratory tract irritation. My '00 XJ (250k mi) Heater Core has given up, but I don't have downtime to repair it just yet. I've made a temporary solution until I can swap out the entire box/assembly with new hardware. Today (day 1) it is 65 F degrees Dec 1st, 2018 and no loss of coolant. See photos for further details. I've done this on a Honda welding aluminum tubes together (I was bored), but this is by far easier and cheaper. I believe the Copper elbos we're $2.00 (US) each. The hose clamps are cheap too. Just solder the two Copper elbos together.

    tailgate

https://westernmass.craigslist.org/pts/d/jeep-comanche-tailgate/6662988822.html Check this MJ tailgate near Albany NY. The price is high, but so is driving and shipping for something out of state.

    mj doors

I've two sets of MJ (red) doors for sale. Shipping out of Birmingham AL would be outrageous though. I'd suggest sourcing local or upgrade to XJ doors w/manual windows, and upgrade door sticker.
  9. My Brother and I both have MJ's. Found a donor XJ for our (ongoing) conversions. I'll have the nose (+lights) and fenders on mine this weekend.
  10. Good question Carl. I'd be interested in knowing as well. I'm seeking a 23.5 gal OEM fuel tank (complete+lines+etc) for my '88 Long Bed Comanche. Adding a 2nd on psgr side. It's likely I'll have this very question you have here. Hope others will respond on this question you've posted. Bham, AL
  11. MJ came with (not installed) what appears to be a roll bar (bed anchored), though this one is made of aluminum. I've had a steel roll bar (bed anchored) like this one once. Don't think I'll install it afterall. More like a light bar to me.
  12. If it's weak, then make it STRONGer. If it's hot, then make it COOLer. If it doesn't fit, then MODify it. Only research I need to do is setting up the fuel switch to 'toggle' in operation. Reading on a few 'in service' designs should be sufficient. This'll be an easy mod I believe. Yes, I'll prob waste some time seeking a parts MJ for the tank, straps/J-hooks and hook 'bosses' for the J-hooks. Goes without saying. It's 30 yrs old. Hahah. Prob fab my own skid plates unless they're inexpensive aftermarket. It'll be setup like a pre-runner, so I'm mounting the two matching spares off the rear of the bed. No need for an under-bed spare, though this one still has a working cable system. Giving that to my Brother for his MJ. By the way, I use to rebuild autos/vans and trucks (Toyota to F-250's) for a living. Any mod is possible.
  13. 4.0L runs and idles well after sitting for some time.
  14. You guys ROCK! :D Great suggestions and comments. Exhaust would be easy enough to customize. Options: 1) Turn it (shorten) out in front of the right rear wheel. 2) Turn it (shorten) out behind the right front wheel. 3) Go into the rail. This sounds bonkers, but it's just a 1 3/4" or 2" exhaust pipe. Those are just some ideas for now until I do it.. and I'm gonna. Cost would be anywhere from $100 (used junk yard price) to $400 all new OEM I'sd suppose. Why not, right? I've driven trucks w/dual tanks and LOVE it. I may 'bob' the Long Bed, so I'll have to keep all major components in front of the rear axle. I use to rebuild totaled (those that look like crumpled tin cans) automobiles, trucks, vans, etc.. so no worries w/the exhaist mods. Just curious how I'd rig it to switch while driving. I suppose I'll research some F250's w/dual tanks to see. Anyone local to Birmingham Alabama have a used 23.5-24 gallon MJ fuel tank or know where I can find one?
  15. I searched here.. though I've not yet found a discussion on adding an additional 23.5-24 gallon OEM fuel tank to a Long Bed. Anyone doing this? Any roadblocks? Seems there's ample space + welding on the hook-in brackets on the floor of the bed.
  16. Really great idea with those seats!
  17. Yes, it sure is. There's only a tad bit of rust in the floorboards. I've clean XJ floorboards to weld into it. Should have some new photos end of the month.
  18. MJsNotDead '88 MJ 4x4 LB (Bought 6/9/18) '00 XJ 4x4 Classic. 3" Lift. '00 XJ 4x4 Sport. 3" Lift. IT/Engineering. Mechanical. Automotive. Aviation. Everything Else. Birmingham, Alabama
  19. Beefy Rig!!! Interesting combination of mechanics.
  20. BIG PLANS!! Bought this June '18. My 2nd MJ. My 1st w/a title. :) This '88 needs 5spd trans and rear axle/spring debacle 'fixed' for starters. First things first. I hope to be posting soon a lot of OEM parts off this one. MJ to XJ conversion pending... spare time. I have all I need from two ('99 & '00) XJ's. STOKED!!! I'll keep the posts going as my MJ takes shape. Thanks!!
