  1. Hey guys, 86 2.5L Renix 5spd. The truck has a rough idle, putters when accelerating but occasionally jumps back into normal operation and then putters again. At higher rpms it seems to be ok, but definitely feels sluggish. I changed the fuel filter just as a starting point but little to no difference. I just bought it in July and the guy said he had just changed plugs, wires, and distributor(and had a 14 year long log of all work done to it with receipts, so I trust it). Any suggestions on where to start looking first?
  2. Yeah that looks real nice. Thanks for the suggestion!
  3. You think so? Any particular advantage or disadvantage to painting the vc? Or is it simply aesthetics?
  4. I’ve scoped out a few different sites. Partsgeek isn’t too bad either. Found a few things on there I didn’t expect. But I usually use rock auto or scan different regional Facebook groups
  5. Just got an aluminum valve cover and considering painting it. Thoughts? Is this a bad idea, good idea? If I do, what color should I do it? New paint job is navy blue.
  6. Hey guys! I’m in Lawrence, KS. Got an 86 longbed, 2.5L 5 spd. Been slowly putting it together but I have a lot more to do before I wanna take it out much. I’ll have to try out that place in manhattan, what level of wheeling is that?
  7. Yeah man I’m checkin that stock like every 2 Days. Haha
  8. Yeah I’m not trying to add a lift or anything long term, just wanted a little more tire. Thanks for the info and response!
  9. Yeah I’ll probably go a different route. That being said, what’s a fair price for a set of about half tread left 255/70R18s on wrangler rims with a brand new spare?
  10. Great man thanks. Mine has the rear springs on top so I’m just worried about the front. I went ahead and got them cuz I figure I’ll find somebody that would want them if I can’t get it to work.
  11. Will 255/70R18s on wrangler rims fit a stock manche front end? Found a good deal and wanna know if they will Work right away or not.
  12. I found this gem in western Missouri, I live in Lawrence KS and have been salvaging parts from an 89 farm find I got in February to perfect this thing. Getting it painted back to original blue (this is a spray paint job a former owner did that was not well done) and a bedliner this week. Will post more pics later! My parts bench:
  13. That would be awesome. I have time!
  14. Ok awesome, thanks. I don’t see anything on the item description that said it was for sure aluminum but it looks like it has the little screws nuts or screws on the inside.
  15. Gotcha, just wasn't familiar with that terminology applied to these gauges. thanks man!
  16. I have only been on this site for a little bit and haven't posted enough things to create a classified listing yet, but I am looking to convert to the aluminum cover for my 2.5L. I don't have many options for junkyards around here and haven't found a suitable donor yet and am wondering if anyone has one they can part with or can point me in the right direction to find one. I've seen for the gasket to use a FelPro vs50502r and a cover from a 93- YJ or a Dakota with a 2.5. I haven't been able to locate any of those valve covers online anywhere either though.
  17. How can you tell the difference between an idiot light cluster and a non? Is it just the panel on the left?
  18. Hey everyone! I live in Lawrence, KS and I have an 86 Comanche 2.5, 4x4 5 speed long bed. I also have an 89 that I’m using for parts and swaps for a little bit. Been following the site a little bit, but ready to dig in and get going on sprucing up the new truck. Is there anything around this area worth checking out for a little light trailing?
