  1. I have a gauge with numbers. I'm running my truck at about 190/195. When in traffic, it starts to rise to 210 and above. I haven't let it rise too much passed that without movement or blasting the heater. Haven't let it sit at idle for too long. When it's parked I don't have the issue. The fans seem to kick on. My fans are controlled by a thermometer resting in the radiator and they pull air through.
  2. I can't tell exactly what is going on. It started a couple of weeks ago, but while sitting in traffic, my temp gauge will start to rise pretty quickly and climb. While driving, my temp goes back to normal operating temp. I checked my hoses and water pump with an infrared thermometer and they were different from what the gauge read. Any other test I can do? I have a new radiator and triple electric fan set up. The water pump is new and I'm pretty sure the thermostat was replaced when the engine was rebuilt.
  3. Ah. Missed that part. Thanks for the heads up.
  4. Stumbled on this post because I'm having the same issue. I found this fix: https://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/renix-voltage-gauge-fix-684375/ Haven't tried it yet. But I might.
  5. Thanks. I like the design.
  6. Just picked this up last week off CL. It's pretty retro and I think it was custom. It's almost too short by .5"-1". Leaking in the rain so far.
  7. Oh nice. I'll check it out. Thanks!
  8. Thanks! So far, I have removed the C101 and gotten a newer ECU too. My stalling issues have gone away. I think it was a bad O2 sensor that was causing it. Idle improved too. I'll get to cleaning today and see where it gets me. Thanks for the tips.
  9. Hello. I've been having this issue for a while. Sometimes when I start my truck, the RPMs go to 3000 until I shut the engine off. I just cleaned my throttle body and readjusted the TPS. Replaced most of my vacuum lines. Can't figure out what else it could be. Thanks. I have an 88 4.0. EDIT: Forgot to mention it does have a new IAC and MAP and it happens when cold or hot.
  10. I was going to say the same thing. Drove from Los Angeles to Wisconsin and back. Had to replace my transfer case along the way
  11. Great info. Thank you!
  12. It starts right back up.
  13. Thanks! I have replaced the IAC already. About 4 months ago. The throttle was looking pretty good then too. I’ll re check it though. Anyway to test the IAC sensor? Also, do you think a bad EGR would do anything I described?
  14. Hello again. Recently I've been having an issue where my truck will die randomly when at idle. Doesn't happen all the time, and sometimes happens when I break quickly. The radio still works when its dead, it just stops. Power steering too. Edit: Forgot to mention, it has been idling weird too. Usually after I restart the car after it dies it will idle at 2000-3000 for a little while. It's an 88 auto 4.0. Thanks.
  15. Thanks. I did do a cluster swap a couple of months ago. I’ll have to pull it out again when I have time and look it it.
  16. Perfect. I did this last week. Thanks!
  17. Also just noticed my music sort of skips when I turn the blinkers on.
  18. Is that the ground by the hood release cable? I did add another 10awg wire from that ground to another point.
  19. Thanks. I have gotten a 2 gauge cable set and added a ground to the tail light (due to looking at your website). I’ve replaced the negative wire a couple of times, but haven’t sanded away any paint. Hopefully it’s as simple as that.. I can’t figure it out. Theres not s specific combo to reattach it all (nut-grounds-dipstick/nut-dipstick-grounds) is there? Sorry if that’s a dumb question. Edit: Just messed with the configuration. Doesn't matter.
  20. I'll try this first thing in the morning. I doubt it has anything to do with the alternator and most likely the cables. My negative cable that connects from the battery to block disconnected from the terminal lug last week. I got a replacement but maybe my positive cables are crap too. They are 2awg battery cables that I got online. Could be poorly made. How do I check the cables? Thanks for the help.
  21. True. It did come with proof of performance. Idle 105, cruise 128, top end 156.
  22. Good idea. It’s strange though because this is a pretty new occurrence. Never had this problem until I deleted my C101.
