guages look pretty sick!

'88 SporTruck 4.0L with 3.55 gears and everything emissions-related removed (not my doing) sitting pretty at about 15mpg, can't say I'm a conservative driver but I'm not a speed-demon either

Thanks for all the advice guys! I was just reading the thread about the 10% off injectors a couple days ago so I should be able to find it again pretty easily. The 'Manche's goin into the shop friday to find the electrical gremlin that's stealing the power from my fuel pump and distributor, so when I get it back I'll check the ECU and order new injectors as well as change the oil, with these little set-backs my MJ'll have all new parts in no time, long as I have the money to keep up with it :rotfl2:

yep, swapped the pump out last night, went without a hitch. The only problem is that it wasn't what kept my 'Manche from starting. There's no power going to the distributor or the pump so there's no spark and no gas. A couple of my buddies and I were up til 3am trying/checking everything we could and have no idea why there's no power going to either of them, I think maybe it's just a short somewhere in the wiring (I mean, it's is 22 years old after all) -

If you got the pump from at parts store the cradle will be wrong, but you should be able to remove the pump from the cradle, and put it into yours... (No one makes a pump/sender for MJ's anymore... All the parts stores assume its the same as an XJ, but, it ain't.) Rob L. :typing: ok dokey, gotta' love mods :P any reason they made the pumps for the XJ different from the MJ or just to mess with us MJ owners? haha -
:agree: both are great movies!!

alright, easy enough fix I'm changing the oil this week after I replace the fuel pump, can't go get oil and the filter if my truck doesn't run, haha thanks guys!

I was checking my oil yesterday when I smelled gas in the oil. I know it's not something I want to go on any longer than need be, but I've also been told it cleans out the engine, is this true? What could cause this, just bad seals, bad injectors, somethin else?

well, this weekend saw a lot of work on jeeps, mine and my buddies, he managed to suck a washer thru his snorkel but thankfully it stayed in the intake (found that out AFTER we had the top half of the engine apart, haha) found a black header panel at the junkyard that was in great shape so it's now on my jeep, only downside to this weekend - found out there's gas in my oil :wall: and my fuel pump just crapped out on me -

i love how perfect the bed of the truck is :chillin: thanks man! the truck's in really good condition for being 22 years old, but the bed is incredible! there's only surface rust in a couple areas, and that's only for another few days  -

Apparently you don't like a jacked up @ss end? No @ss end is ever going to be perfect, you know? :rotf: mine takes jacked up to a whole new level :rotfl2: the back end's easily 5 inches higher than the front so it's literally "jacked up" (not for much longer tho :D ) SOA in the rear and stock in front? I know what you mean by jacked up though, Baby is lowered 3" in the front and stock in the rear for now. Although I kind of like it, I want her even lower all around. pretty much, SOA in the back usin a "modified" cherokee axle and cherokee axle and springs in the front. the angle was kinda' cool for the first month or so then I decided I want to level it out and go higher :D nice! :rotfl2: -

Its looking good man! Just saw ya today at the stoplight in Cherry Valley... Didn't know if you remembered me, or thought I was some weirdo... I knew it was you as soon as I came over the bridge and saw the @$$ end of a gray Comanche jacked up in the air... Rob L. :D thanks man! if the back end's jacked way up and there's Yugo dealer sticker on the lower lefthand side of the tail-gate, then it's me, lol. I thought it was you but wasn't entirely sure -

I believe my tracbar's the same one that been on the truck since 1988, so I wouldn't be surprised if it is shot. A buddy and I were talking about drilling a new hole to kinda' rig it til I can get a new one and try to get rid of the DW, wasn't sure if that'd help or not, but if that's what's caused it for yours it's probly the same with mine. Thanks for the advice! Anything to help rid my MJ of DW's at the top of my list of things to get, so I should be getting that soon along with the lift, then put all on at the same time while i'm under there I always wondered about the adjustable tracbars, if they're adjustable, what keeps 'em from movin on ya when you're driving and hit a nast bump, or when you're offroadin, ya know? -

I dunno if anyone's really following this, but tuition's done for the semester, which means more money for the MJ! It's looking like next week the MJ will get new shocks all around, a 4 inch lift in the front to match the back, an alignment, and the tires rebalanced, that should take care of the death wobble/high speed shimmy problem... hopefully -
looks really nice man! thought about doin that with my flares

Death wobble, possible causes?
88MJXLS replied to 88MJXLS's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks for the tips guys! alignment and a new trackbar were on the list of things to do for my MJ, but now they're definitely bumped up to the top of the list Right now it's lifted somethin like 4" in the back (SOA courtesy of a modified rear axle out of a '94 cherokee) counting the days til the front's lifted to match  Eagle - thanks for the correction, it helps to use the right terms if I want to find out causes, lol. I did have death wobble, now it's more of a shimmy (there were times when I thought I was going to be thrown outta' my MJ, and the brakes would go out...) My MJ has just over 89K miles (on an '88, I was surprised!) and that's exactly what my MJ did, it hasn't been as bad lately, but i've also replaced the rear shocks and am about to put new trackbar, shocks, and springs on the front. -
I just replaced the steering stabilizer on my MJ a few weeks ago (it had terrible death wobble around 50-55 mph or when I went over a series of decent sized bumps) The new stabilizer got rid of the death wobble for a few weeks, but it's starting to come back a lil bit if I accelerate too fast around 55, it's nothing major a slight wobble not like I'm gonna' be thrown outta' my Jeep. I've noticed that my MJ pulls to the right a bit, so maybe it could be alignment related? Any ideas on what my cause death wobble, or help fix it?

I've been thinkin (just got done driving my MJ down a nice open country road :D ) is there really any better sound/sight than an MJ beasting its way through mud, snow, etc?
