Source for A pillar door seal
EUREKA replied to pizzaman09's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm reading silicon sprays can soften old rubber., and I have silicon spray on the shelf. Or a solution of a solution of three parts isopropyl alcohol and one part methyl salicylate (wintergreen oil) but I don't happen to have any of that laying around. -

I was able to find my other piece. I'm going to use plastic retainers and 3m super weatherstrip adhesive to install them. But I would like to limber them up first. I don't have any diesel rigs. I wonder what else I might use to make them more pliable? -
What is this pieces of weather stripping called?

Looks like I have one of them, not in the best shape. I might find the other one around here somewhere. -

Looks like I'm going to have to rivet some small aluminum angle to the spot and install a piece of door seal on it. Or find some other weather strip with adhesive back that will do the job. I didn't see this one coming. -

That's the response I get constantly, and I understand that I am in a rare situation but, I live 3 hours and 10 minutes drive (155 miles) from an auto wreckers. That's 6 hours 20 minutes rounds trip. -

Alloy wheels ok on Metric Ton?

Ok, that's what I was hoping to hear. Thanks -
I think I recall hearing somewhere that only the steel wheels are able to safely handle the metric ton payload. Is this true or can i run a set of alloy wheels?

Mine was delaminating.

The nearest Safelite is 153 miles from my house. There is no longer a wreckers in my area due to a fire, and loss of insurance. But even before that they never kept cars as old as 2001 very long before crushing them.

I cannot find the later style either. Not available locally and can't find it online.

All of the auto glass shops in my region use the same distributor, and they do not have access to windshields for 1983 - 2001 XJ/MJ. I have not been able to find the windshield for sale online. Its looking like l will have to make a 4.5 hour (each way) to purchase a windshield. Anyone know where I can purchase a windshield online? I also need the plastic clips that attach the chrome trim that surrounds the windshield to the body. Unless there is a very good reason I should go with the rubber 1-piece windshield molding? Thanks

So I was reinstalling my wiper transmission and motor when I dropped the little clip nut that the 10m bolt goes into. Seen in this picture. It sounded like it went all the way to the passenger side of the cavity in there. I am not having any luck fishing it out with a magnet. I'm hoping it didn't somehow hop and go into the HVAC system. I'm not clear on the construction of the body panels. If I remove the plastic piece up in the passenger wheel well is there a chance it will fall out of there?

I did this on my passenger side and it went well. Doing the drivers side this week.
