This is going to sound really retarded... I replaced every single component on my grand prix because I had the belt routed wrong. I know call me an idiot, but my car didn't have the sticker and the images on the cover that came with the belt made ZERO sense. So, there I was with a big squealer and every single acc worked so, check the routing of your belt and the tension. These I6's are bulletproof motors.

I used a screw driver and brute force. Its a little piece of rubber, it will stretch and retract. Thats what I did, works fine.

BA/10 5 spd fill/drain points?
BORDENCOMANCHE replied to smithe1811's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have a 4x4 ba10/5, look between the transfer case and the transmission you will see what is called an adapter plate bolted to both the transmission and the transfercase (I have NP 231), On the bottom of the adapter plate is the drain hole. If I am not mistaken. -
:hmm: Quick guys, what size the the fitting for the clutch slave cylinder on a Ba 10/5?? Thank you in advance.

I fixed my mirror by screwing some brackets into it and the door. She sits pretty now, I might do the same to the other side, its very inconspicuous. My 4x4 is rockin out with its C**K out! Thanks boys for all the help. -

I agreed, the friggin shag I had in mine just maintained the yucky icky musty smell, I ripped all that crap out and laid down some type of aluminum bubblewrap material I got a 4' x 10' sheet for 13 bucks, worked great and its really shiney! -

I noticed that my steering wheel isn't centred straight when the truck is going straight. I can live with that, not an issue (I think). I might take it to the shop for an alignment. -

The inner cable busted clean off. I tried some jimmy rigging just now, but its a no fly zone. -
I drove my comanche for the first time on the road today!!! 4x4 swap successful!!! I geared her up got to the end of the driveway and SNAP!!! My speedo cable broke from behind the dash!!! I am so up $#!& creek!! Speeding on an army base gets your car impounded. I didn't let that stop me, I wheeled tonight for my first time tonight, legally... and I hit the first bump a little too hard and the GOD DAMN passenger mirror flew off!!!! I have it duck taped on for now, but it isn't good considering I need my safety before I run out of 10 days. To the real issue here... I have DEATH WOBBLE like you wouldn't believe and the truck isn't lifted, 0 lift. I did notice however that the steering felt a little loose, is there a driveway fix for this issue, or am I also up the creek with this one? Budget is the goal here boys.

Electrical problem i need fixed fast!!!
BORDENCOMANCHE replied to BigDaddy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I fixed this problem today, took me all of an hour. I bought 2 marker lights, a roll of 12 gauge wire (although wasn't neccessary for 12 gauge), and a fuse, some quick connect female connectors and a switch; cost me all of 35 dollars. Yep, I screwed the marker lights into my back bumper (that is all beat to hell) and wired them direct from the battery to the switch to the lights and grounded off a piece that ran parrellel between my frame. (For some reason the bumper won't ground). Its legal, it looks like @$$, but it works. I had same problem, no marker lights, but I got my fix. temporarily -
Thermostat Advice

This will work on my 88 I6 as well? -
Okay guys, we are getting a little of track here. My service brakes work fine, when I push the main brakes the tail lights come on as they should. I am referring to my running lights not coming on in the rear end, you know, the ones that let people behind you know where you are. I think it has to do with my E-Brake, all my normal brakes work fine. When I first turn on the truck, the warning light is kinda dull, and I have no tail lights or front markers then after a minute the light gets brighter, when I wiggle the floor mounted ebrake pedal the light follows my wiggling with flickers. I have lifted it up and let it go a thousand times, still no lights and warning light won't go away. Advice?

Diagnosis - Ignition Switch Problem
BORDENCOMANCHE replied to centralnc's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Compared to most modern vehicles, the comanche's wiring is pretty simple, I did this today actually. Uncork the big mess behind the battery, then pop all the wires out of their protective black sheaths, take a flashlight and follow every wire too and from the starter then to the box on the firewall near the steering wheel. You should find your problem, any rusty connection will usually make a comanche crap out. Could also be a $#!&ty ignition lock cylinder in the column, click the key forward one click and wait for fuel pump noise, if you hear it then I guess you can rule out cylinder. Take mine for example I can start my truck without a key. And it runs great. Just turn the cylinder. P.s. Before anybody gets on me, there is a hidden kill switch. Ryan, -
wait i don't understand. You want me to load the brakes (pedal down) then simultaneously lift the pedal while pulling the release handle (that I don't have, just have the bracket). I will try that, but I already know the trouble that will cause my nerves, that sucker comes flying up at mach 12x200. I will also try lifting it and pulling release bracket with no tension.
