What is this part called?
Master7122 replied to Master7122's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I will try this thank you! I went to a junkyard and grabbed a xj one just in case the o ring method doesn't work. I know I may have to do some modifying but I think I'll be able to figure it out -

Brake fluid is coming from where the plunger screws into the block, do I need entire block or just that plunger then? Or an o ring? -

What is this part called?
Master7122 replied to Master7122's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The light comes on when I turn the key to the on position so I know it works. And I didn't know if that is what told me I was low because 1. Its leaking badly and 2. When I went dry in the master cylinder from that leak, the brake light didn't come on -

Thanks eagle! Do you know if I can get one from a auto zone or advanced? Also if the plunger failed would that cause the brake light to not come on the dash when the fluid is low -

I just need the sensor that goes into the top of it -
I'm leaking brake fluid out of the top of a gold piece where all my brake lines connect. I think its called a proportion valve? Anyways its like a sensor for the light in the cab to come on when its low. My light doesn't come and so I would assume that its no good. Its kinda yellowish in color and is directly on top with a connection going to it

There is like a box on top of the steering column and a rod goes inside of it and when you turn your key you push the rob forward which engages the switch. If you take the ignition switch out and and that then engages the starter, put a screwdriver where that rod went and push down on it, you can start the truck like that.

You can take the ignition switch off from the top of the steering column and use a screwdriver to start it. I did that for awhile till I found a nice column at the junkyard

Aftermarket tach not working
Master7122 replied to Master7122's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I second that, this tach is garbage, I returned it and ordered a better tach so hopefully it'll work unlike the one I got from auto zone. Lesson learned, don't buy gauges from autozone -

Not sure, came with the tach itself, mount, some screws, a thing to splice into the tach wire and some wire crimps -
Just like it says, looking for a front headlight wiring harness with the additional fog lights

Aftermarket tach not working
Master7122 replied to Master7122's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Its a basic 40$ tach you can buy at auto zone. Think its like a auto guage? Does it have a brand name? Not that it matters, it sounds like the color coding of the wires is fairly standard. Did you try the check-out procedure I posted? This one? http://www.autozone.com/gauges-and-gauge-accessories/tachometer/equus-3-3-8-in-black-bezel-electric-tachometer/255933_0_0?checkfit=true Yes that's it and yes I did as you said and it did nothing -

For some reason my aftermarket tach will not work. I put the red to positive, black to ground, white to the dash lights, and green to the green/white wire coming from the coil. The tach lights up and that's about it. I know I can put a full gauge cluster in but I don't want to. Its a 87 4.0. Also the switch on the back of the tach is set to 6 cylinders

Aftermarket fog light wiring
Master7122 replied to Master7122's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thank you everyone for the input/advice. I'm going to true and homebrew my wiring harness this weekend and see what I can do. Doesn't seem too hard to do -
Is there anyway to wire aftermarket fog lights to the stock fog light switch? My Comanche didn't come with fog lights but I found a nice factory fog light switch that Id like to use
-
Thank you, I will get around to doing it this weekend and ill let you know what I find

All grounds good, and everything works as it should once I do the turn signal thing. Also I am using the correct bulbs because when I put the incorrect bulbs in my brake lights were always light as if I was on the pedel

Yes I have trailer wiring and it looks nasty. Very corroded looking and cracked. That's probably what it is. Should I remove it or take it to like a uhaul and have them install another trailer harness?

My drivers side brake light doesn't light up until I turn on my drivers side turn signal??? So when I get in the truck only the passenger tail light will light up when the brake is pressed but if I use the driver side turn signal it'll work again? I don't even know where to start with that. Its a 1987 4.0 Auto 4x4

2 to 1 piece axle shaft
Master7122 replied to Master7122's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I already locked the cad, I'm putting in new gears and a locker so I thought now would be a good time to change from 2 piece to 1 piece shafts
