  3. I need some help! I have a1987 MJ Sportruck 4 or 5 years ago the gas tank and all of its contents rusted out. It was replaced be a fuel cell in my tool box in the bed and an electric inline fuel pump under the truck. Last year I found a sending unit and tank that runs in the we installed in bed to see if would run and it did. We then tried to mount it under truck and it was too wide and is to close to drive shaft. So I ordered new tank thinking it was wrong size got same size tank. All of the tanks on most websites are same ones. I don't know why we can't get it to fit properly.its a swd 2wd 4cy. Any help would be appreciated.

  16. Hey, I'm the original owner of this MJ. I've always had someone doing the work on the MJ. I finally retired and decided to try my hand at doing it myself. My biggest problem seems to be rough idle. I'm in the process of doing your tips. Done some, but not all of the grounds. Now I'm cleaning C101 connector, it was so clogged up you couldn't see anything inside. I'm going to soak each side connector in some brake cleaner for a couple hours to see if that will get the rest of it out. I would like to thank you for all these tips. You and all on cc are very informative. Probably will have a bunch of questions.
  17. Thanks for the responses to my question. I saw what appears to be test sockets in the engine bay they have yellow caps on them. Just asking I'm new to working on my own MJ.
  18. Does anyone know if there is obd reader for a 1987 MJ 2.5.

  21. I sure like what you did with your Mj. I have 87 2wd 4 cy. 2.5 4 spd. Sportuck mine is beige. I'm the original owner. My gas tank fuel pump and sender all rusted out! Couldn't find a sender anywhere so went with a fuel cell and external fuel pump. I would like to put it back original, but don't know where to get a sender. Is your fuel system still original? Any idea where I can find a used sender, have checked all junk yards with no luck!
