  1. thanks i'm looking into the novak cable since i don't have any of the brackets , only picked the stock shifter from a 96 cherokee the brackets and the z linkage was already gone , and i like the fact that the novak system comes with the brackets .
  2. sweet good idea with the map i'm on ,
  3. well i ended up pulling a stock tc shifter from a cherokee , i think i'm just going to use it and remove the z linkage system, and use the cable system to connect the tc to the shifter . think it should be ok .
  4. this prolly won't help much but i have an 87 with the 4.0 and ba10/5 , 2 years ago mine got stuck between first and second and i was not able to even move the truck. i ended up pulling the trans and spliting the case to find the problem ,what i found was the first second shift fork had worn the tabs off one side and ended up twisted checked the forks all had badly worn tabs . i had called around and actully found new shift forks at blumenthals (of all places ). bought them and replaced the forks along with all the bearing . after reinstalling it shifts good to this day ( oh mine is 2wd ) , and this coming march i'm swapping to ax15 and 4wd conversion . anyways that was just my experience with a stuck gear in a ba10/5 , i hope yours does not have this same problem .
  5. I have an ax15 and a np231 .
  6. anyone ever used the novak sk2x tc shifter kit in there mj ? i'm about to start the 2wd to 4wd conversion on my 87 in march . i have almost every thing i need except the tc shifter system , or would i just be better off going to the jy and pull a system from another cherokee ?
  7. this has never happened before as i was driving home from work last night . i had the heater on vent when shifting into 5th gear the heater switched to defrost for a couple minutes? i've never noticed this before also i haven't had time to look at till tuesday when i'm off work , i'm thinking it prolly a vac problem but not sure . so i'm wondering if anyone has had this issue before and maybe a place to look and see where the vac leak may be at. any advise would be nice to narrow down where to look . i'll have the dash apart tuesday to change the gauge cluster from idiot lights to gauges , so i'll be able to check the vac lines in the dash at the same time thanks, chris
  8. so i'm doing the same swap , and didn't want to start another topic just to ask this question , with the difference in axle tube dia. between the 35 and the 8.8 whats a good set of shackles greaseable that could net me back 1/2" of lift ? i've read it somewhere in the forum just can't remember where . thanks

  11. cool thanks for all the info , nice pics still trying to figure out how to post pictures
  12. well chopper35nj just posted part of that list of bed sizes , for me the dodge is way to long and a couple inches wider height looks good , like i was saying before the mazda's are really close if you don't mind a half inch differance in height and 1/2 wider , so a mazda camper shell would work for me , here in my neck of the woods there's not many comanche's around . heck sometimes i think i'm the only one town except that white long bed i see once a year lol. anyways i don't think i would ever find a comanche top here , so i look for close enough .
  13. there a web site called http://www.truckinamerica.com/toppers/BedSize.htmthers a list of trucks and bed sizes there . here's a few for short beds most are only 20" tall that could fit the comanche model year length width height cab degree nissansb/rc 83-84 743/4 60 20 4 nissansb/kc 85-86 75 60 20 6 nissansb/kc/biglite 94-95 743/4 60 20 4 mazdasb/rc/ec 94-05 75 60 201/2 n/a s-10 sb/xc 82-93 743/4 60 20 4 these were just a few that i found that could work not perfect most are short height wise . thought i'd post what i found cause i'm looking for one and the mazda sb rc/ec 94-05 looks to be the best fit for my 87 comanche swb . hope this helps ya'll
  14. i was thinking bumpstops would be the way to go . guess when i get it together i'll just have to flex it and measure to get the right size one in , i'm wanting to try to keep as much of a stock look to the body as possible, already cutting the front fenders for approach angle, but if i have to do some minor trimming to minimize rubbing then ok. i'll post some pics later after i figure out how to get them small enough file size to post on here .
  15. nice pic, ok thanks are those headlights from a liberty ?
  16. hello newbe here to comanche club, not new to comanches lol , any how i'm in the middle of a 2wd conversion to 4wd on my 87 comanche , my question is i'm going with a 4.5 lift with steel d-hole 15x8 3.75 bs wanting to use 33x12.50r15 duratracs from goodyear , will i have trim the fenders the tires measure 32.5 dia , i've read on this forum that i would have to and on other forums as well , so i'm hoping that somebody runs these tires and lift can let me know , this truck will be a dd with some light trail use , thanks
