Muffler Toast but now more power!
89eliminator replied to jeepdoggydogB's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
your old muffler could have been clogged resulting in a loss of power. why put OEM back on? why not make it sound cooler? :clapping: -
 wish other forums i visit would realize this. :rotf:

i don't think that the Full Traction crossmember will work on the MJ without some cutting. i do like your thinking though with it being a 4 link and all :brows: -

can't say that i read about changing the exhaust system on a XJ or MJ. i have read though that certain TJ long arms kits you have to purchase a new exhaust system. :dunno: -
nah, probably wasnt the gas cause it started doing it when i had about a half tank.
-
this just developed last night actually. only happened a few times. driving along at a constant speed and the motor would kinda stutter momentarily. nothing to bad but i don't want it to get worse. any ideas?

i concur I wasnt talking about stock arms with drop brackets, I'm looking at adjustable uppers and lowers with johnny joints. so James750 you like the TNT long arms,i will have to look at them. I have no doubt that you have more experience with this then i do. As for RRO I never claimed to have credible knowledge of these systems,i believe at one point i said this is fairly new to me. I was only commenting on my own experience with them and their products, which so far has been good. Ive been reading a little about the 4 link vs. 3 link,i did notice that some people prefere the 4 link, looked like there may be a little more work to installing them then the 3link though it isnt that much more work. you just need to copy your driver side upper mount to the passenger side. -

fwiw i can outflex a XJ with the TNT kit. i have a 4 link. I'm not turning this into a this is better than that thing, but i always like the 4-link cause thats what came factory and its proven to work. -

apparently not :shake: So that was the rear? when and where? what the hell details man, details? yup, driver side axle shaft. driving home from school doing about 60, heard and felt a pretty awesome vibration. turned down country road and got out to look. diff fluid all over my tire and everything else under the truck for that matter. the fluid was actually flowing out of the drum. only had a 3 mile or so drive home so i kept it under 25 the whole way and then pulled the shaft out to find the carnage. -

no its not. still trying to figure out what went wrong. sucks cause i just replaced that bearing. maybe it was faulty cause everything was put together correct and it had enough oil in it.
