small meaningless victory...
happy yes, anything changed.. no
although I hope this serves as a moral booster for our men and women in uniform. :USAflag:
Quick question.. I'm about to two in 2 hrs.
I am towing a 95 cherokee 5pd 4wd with a tow dolly.
I have heard different things..
1)DS out
2)put it in high gear so the tcase oils
3)put it in neutral
obviously no. 1 is the best, but aside from oil leaking all over the seller driveway and its raining.. are the other two viable options?
in my YJ... I had both axle seals go, and the u joints were bad... sp to avoid doing the job I just bought a new axle for $200...
Very extreem measure, and totally uncalled for, but it only took me an hour to swap it in ;)
to be completely honest I'm confused myself...
I sold a Tcase to somebody with a 93xj
The tcase was out of 88XJ
He came back and told me it won't work because his is electronic and the 88 case was vacume...
my question was what exactly are the vacume controlls if any on an early model 231 and what are the electronic connections....
I know the VSS is electric or manual, but that can be changed... are there any other ones that would prevent him from using this case in his 93?
I think your looking at the wrong means of transportation then.
I think all the suggestions that were made are very valid in terms not just for off road performance, but also on road. If you are going to do something major, do it once correctly.
major issues...
The engines are not compatable.. (non HO and HO don't like each other)
the gears are not matching if you just take the front axle.
the auto tranny requires the full 92 XJ body harness to be swapped (MAJOR surgury)
my suggestion....
pick up a 231 with a 21 spline from a 4cyl
Use BOTH axles from the XJ... just swap the spring perches on the rear
Sell off the remaining XJ to even out losses.
The swap will be as simple as it can be, you will gain a better gear ratio in the axles and keep everything simple under the hood
CW,
if you need anything motor related... I have a 88 parts XJ in the driveway... solonoids, valves, all that garbage is here.
Still have a complete motor to if anybody is interested ;) :brows:
have you tried putting a cap on everything? or are you just letting the hang....
I can check on the aw4 in my garage and see of there is any vacume lines... I think its only electrical...
one of the lines to the vac motor t's into the engine so thats where the vac leak might be comming from... I knwo thats how it is on my YJ.. whne its off the idle loops a bit.
I'm taking out the whole front dash for sombody and would like to do it in one peice without breaking anything... any tips or things to watch out for when taking this out... its a 1988 XJ.. so same untill 96 I think.
