Awesome. Thank you. While I'm at it, if I decide to buy this Cherokee, would the AX-15 swap over fairly easy?
-
I'd want to convert to automatic windows and door locks and auto mirrors. With the right components those should swap over too? What about the air bagged steering wheel? I like the look of my steering wheel better but it's maroon.

Would this interior swap over into my 1988 Comanche Pioneer 4.0L manual? How much of it is specific to the 4.0 HO? I have manual doors locks and mirrors in my Jeep. I was wanting to switch to tan or grey interior and power options. http://cosprings.craigslist.org/cto/5105655493.html 1995 Jeep Cherokee Country This is my current interior:

FN Jeep His prices aren't that cheap but he has a lot of parts... A LOT. Mostly Cherokees.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Would it be easier to brush on the paint or spray it? I don't want factory fresh at this point, i'll worry about that when I do the 97+ front clip. Looking at those pictures too the door dents stand out like a sore thumb. I gotta figure out what to do with those.

So I just read the whole build. My mouth dropped when you said it was sold. Glad to hear you were only kidding. But have you started working on it again? Updates?
-
I haven't even began to research the parts I need yet for the A/C. How much is involved in that upgrade?
-
Ha ha I'm interested in it for other reasons. I want to figure out how to replace it with an A/C compressor and all the goodies. Believe me I've thought about selling it but I have wanted an MJ for so long that it would be stupid to do so cause I couldn't buy one in this condition for any cheaper. I've flipped plenty of Jeeps and you can make good money doing it but I have different plans for this guy. I'll check out NAXJA too. I've heard about it but haven't spent a lot of time on the site. Deckers is beautiful. Well I should say the Deckers area is beautiful seeing as how it's basically just a corner store.

Thanks guys! I'll post pictures as much as I can. I know that I like looking at photos in build threads so I hope to extend that courtesy to everyone who may be interested in what I'm doing.

I've also bought a whole slew of parts for it, just need to find time to install all of them. I bought: Cap, rotor, plugs and wires to do a nice tune up. 5.5" Rubicon Express Coils Rough Country Adjustable Trac Bar Quick Disconnect sway bar end links Adjustable Upper and Lower Control Arms Extended brake lines for the front and rear New N2.0 shocks front and rear Dana 30 with 4.10's from an 87 Cherokee with a 4 cyl. Ford 8.8 with 4.10's and a Limited Slip from a 1999 Explorer 33x12.50x15 tires on Cragar Soft 8's (used) New stickers from Spencer at jeepsticker.com Comanche Pioneer in the newer Cherokee Sport fonts The back 'Jeep' lettering and some miscellaneous 4x4 stickers and such I also purchased a Smart Eraser pad to take off the faded and cracker Pioneer decals.

I got it to work and snapped a few more pictures, the body is actually pretty dang straight and only slight surface rust from where the topper attached to the bed.

Well it all started with a 1994 Jeep Cherokee. It got me hooked on Jeeps. 20 or so XJ's and TJ's later here I am with my much anticipated MJ. I don't remember when I figured out that a "Cherokee truck" existed, but when I did I had to have one. Luckily for me this one popped up on craigslist with a vague location on a map and no phone number. The location was a couple blocks away from work so I left work and drove up and down every street in that neighborhood until I found it sitting on the side of the road. The reason it was so cheap is because some low life side swiped it out in front of the owners house and took off without leaving any contact info. It had 1 wheel facing forward and the other turned in (as you can see in the pic). The owner was home at the time and wasn't weirded out that I found his home without talking to him so that was cool. We talked a little bit and I found out that he only had the truck for about a year and had bought it from the original owner who had purchased it here new back in 1988. We talked a little more and worked out a price and I am now the proud new owner of this beaut. 1988 Jeep Comanche Pioneer, Olympic Edition, 4.0L, 138K original miles, 4x4, short bed, BA10/5 I got it towed to where I work, stuck a floor jack under the bent tie rod end and bent it "straight". It wasn't perfect but I was able to drive it home that day.

What's a stock MJ Dana 44 with 3.07's worth?
ChuckP replied to ChuckP's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So it appears you don't want it that bad then huh? :dunno: -
I'm getting ready to put a lift kit on my Comanche and swap the axles out. I have a Dana 30 and Ford 8.8 with 4.10's and an LSD modified for SOA. I will be selling the other axles that are under it right now including the rear which is a stock SUA Dana 44 with 3.07's. I'm wondering what it would be worth to someone? I don't need to sell it quick and wouldn't be opposed to holding out till I can get all the money out of it.
-
Maybe this will help. From what I've read it's very labor intensive to do the 4.0 swap on the 86 Comanche because it's a tad shorter than the rest. Meaning you have to modify the firewall and a ton of parts are different. 1986 2.5L to 4.0L swap threads. http://comancheclub.com/topic/39539-links-for-25l-to-40l-swap/

I'm not worried about pulling an axle at the junk yard or installing it. I would be worried about any sort of welding as I have never done it before. Also regearing the front would be pretty daunting for me to make sure it's done right. Also the fact that I don't have a garage or a driveway is disconcerting as I park on the street in front of my house on a hill. Not really the best place to work on a truck.

If you're referring to this "SFF Customs" guy on Craigslist........http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/5052684592.html Please look elsewhere. He's a tool and a cheat. Has no legit business established with the State or City, no licenses, pays no taxes. He was run off from NAXJA for his bad business dealings and had to start doing work on Ford Rangers/Broncos with other clubs to keep working. Now he gets his business exclusively on Facebook and Craigslist. Unreal to me how he's stayed in business this long. Get signed up on NAXJA and hit the Colorado Chapter. There are a few guys there that can set up an 8.8 for an MJ better and cheaper. Yeah, that is the guy I'm talking about. What kind of bad dealings are you talking about? Is his work pretty poor?

Thanks guys, after doing a little more research I think I want to move to 4:10's and 33's. After peeking under the back of the truck I was pleased to see that it also has a Dana 44 axle. Pretty rare on a 4.0L and 5-speed from what I'm reading. So I'm thinking of doing SOA on the rear. What parts would I need for the front? I know I can search up the ying yang for all this information and I still will, but if there is someone reading this that feels like pitching in please do. Another option would be to have a guy up in Denver do a full regear and new install of a Ford 8.8 for $1100 OTD, not sure if I want to spend that much money on it or not even though it seems like a great deal.
