  1. don't know if this should be in here or the pub, but i have the chance to buy a chryco 8.25 out of a 94 XJ with 4.10's real cheap. I'm looking at an MJ that is lifted, but has a welded 35 :ack:. the 8.25 needs brakes but i was planning on putting stronger shafts in it an a locker. I know to look for a 29 spline, but if i'm gonna rebuild it it really isn't too much of a problem Just wonderin if this seems like a good plan
  2. Yea i figured the vice grips would work, i cut the dust shield away already so thats done, and i guess its good i'm putting Gabriel's in it ;), Thanks for the help
  3. I bought some new cheapo front shocks for my XJ today, and was going to install them. I ran into the same problem i had when i switched the ones on the MJ. The bottom bolts come off easy, but the nut for the top is always stuck to the stud on the shock. On the MJ i could just hold the dust cover part an keep it from spinning and they came right off, but the on the XJ the dust cover just spins. I was either thinking of clamping on a set of vice grips an wedging them into the wheel well an trying to get the nut off the top of the shock. Looking for anyone who has gone through this and what they did. Thanks

  15. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1989-JEE ... 3ca8f5821b says AX 15 but from what i've read it should be an Ax 5, pretty nice though
  16. 31's an stock wheels would fit, you might rub your lower control arms. 31's an after market wheels will rub anything on the outside, fender flares, inner fenders.
  17. sounds a lot like when my altenator went in my cherokee, it sputtered and stayed running above 2000 but once it backed off it shut off. Blew a lot of black smoke too, might be your problem, not sure

  22. Just had a quick question. I'm going to look at a 91 swb 4.0 4x4 5 spd and was wondering what the gear ratio is most likely going to be. I know the older 4.0's ran 3.07's but can't remember if there was any difference in the newer models. Not totally sure on axles, but most likely gonna have the 35. thanks in advanced
  23. North Jersey, some pretty good wheelin around here, if you know the secret spots :D . The MJ should be up in a few weeks but got the XJ for now. Would really like to get out there an meet some of the fellow MJ owners around me. Hopefully i'll be on the road soon.
