  1. I also have my other MJ that i'm tearing apart and taking the front axle from. I'm not sure what the gearing is on that. 88 4.0 5spd 4x4 with a 35
  2. Yea i think i'll either look for a 35 someone is getting rid of or if i can find a 44 with a good ratio in it. Not too worried yet. Gotta get it running before i can lift it
  3. o yeah, forgot that part. 3.55's
  4. I also found a 29 spline 8.25 on CL out of a cherokee. Its got a powertrax in it too. $400 bucks for it
  5. I've heard good things about rough country. Would anyone happen to know what the gearing might be on my 87 2wd with the 35. When i do my 4x4 swap i will most likely swap a 44 in but just in case it would be nice to know
  6. the gears is what i was thinking about, not looking to change those yet, and thats why i was kinda leaning towards the 4.5 and running a 32 or a 33.
  7. I've been looking into lift kits, and i think i've decided on Hellcreek. But now i'm stuck on how high i want to go. I am looking at both the 4.5" and the 6" and was wondering if anyone is running either of these and how they like them. I would also like to do a spring over, but i could live with the spring under for now.
  8. Thanks jpnjim thats exactly what i need.
  9. Yea, i figured i would do gutter mounts, if i can find an old roof rack to cut them off of, or i'll just fab some up, shouldn't be too hard
  10. I've got a bed in pretty nice shape i'm lookin to get rid of if you feel like driving to north nj
  11. I've been wanting to put a roof rack on my comanche, but obviously they don't make one. I was looking at a rack similar to this and was thinking with a little fabbing could make it work. I don't know if anyone has tried this or not, but just an idea that popped in the ol dome.
  12. Pulled the rear tires off today to put some new rear shocks on and decided to break out the rustoleum to try an keep the rust away as long as possible. Thinks it looks pretty good.
  13. The time has come to start my second build thread. I finally decided my 88 had way too much rust to fix to even be worth it. I found an 87 swb 4.0 5spd 2wd with a blown head. I picked it up for $250 bucks and its virtually rust free besides a few holes in the driver side floor. My plans are to pull my entire drive train from my 88 and swap it into the 87, then when the lift comes, i will swap in the front axle and do the 4x4 conversion, then more from there.
  14. Well I've decided to go ahead with the motor swap. I will yank the motor and everything first, and then when i go to do my lift i will do the axle swap, as i think this would be much easier.
  15. yea when i get it i'll have to take a look an see what i can find, i just knew i couldnt let a rust free one go for $250
  16. i considered that, but the motor has 192xxx miles on it, and the guy said he thinks its the head, but i don't think he knows. An i have the resources to pull the motors, an everything is direct bolt in since it has the same motor an trans. the only thing that would take a little work is the 4x4 swap
  17. I am posting this to ask for opinions. I have an 88 pioneer 4.0 4wd 5 speed with 80000 miles on the motor. I just found a 89 4.0 2wd 5 speed right near me with a blown head, but the nice part is no rust at all, and for nj this is rare. He only wants $250 for it. I was gonna use it for parts but i couldnt tear apart a rust free MJ. So due to the fact my 88 is severely rusted i was thinking of pulling my engine, tranny, transfer case, and front axle from it, and swapping them into the 89. I was looking for some opinions if this is a good idea, and how much it ended up costing to do. Thanks a lot the 89 my88
  18. 360mjdude, i need to send you a pic of my mj that i got from NY state. The bed was completely rotted out along with the rockers cab corners, and floors. i guess 220000 miles would do that. But now i found a parts comanche rust free.
  19. I was wondering where you found the cab corners on rockauto
  20. Thats kinda how i felt, just wanted a second opinion
  21. Not sure where to put this, but i just found an 88 LWB laredo 4.0 with an AW4 with 190000 on the body and 50000 on a jasper engine. There is only small surface rust an it needs a u joint for the 4x4 to work. Was wondering if $700 was a good price or not for this....it also has a cap for the bed
  22. I was planning on doing a nice 4.5 to 5 inch lift on my 88 but not sure if money will be there. I still want to lift it an was looking at 3 inches. Other then bigger shocks an springs, would i need to put longer brake lines, any longer/stronger steering parts?
  23. Yea i figured it came of something like that. nice rigs all around
  24. Tires look good. Liking the ram there in the background. I was wondering where u got that backrack for the comanche from.
  25. ok, thanks alot. i'll let you know how it turns out
