  1. The switch in the column. I bought a brand new one off of rockauto.com. Shouldn't take you more than a half hour to switch out the parts.
  2. My 2000 XJ had this problem. I swapped out the turn signal switch and it fixed it.
  3. I'm not sure if it's a widespread issue, but on 00-01 XJs with the 4.0 there have been problems with the head cracking. This hasn't been a problem on my 00, personally. Just something I've heard a lot about on other Jeep forums. EDIT: Just saw comanche09 said the same thing.
  4. I've been keeping track of my MPG for about a year and I get on average 20 MPG in my 2000 XJ. That's with the 4.0 and AW4. No lift or fancy tires.
  5. Try this one: http://jeep.avtograd.ru/vin/vin_en.asp
  6. I have this same problem on my 2000 XJ. It's only when I slam on the brakes though. I chalked it up to needing an alignment. I'll check the caliper soft lines next time the wheels are off.
  7. Cool thanks, Jim. Do you have all the mounting stuff that goes along with it? The PO had some crappy radio in the truck and all the original mounting hardware is missing.
  8. Need a stock radio. Doesn't matter if it has a tape player or not. Also need the metal sleeve that goes around it. It's for an 89 Comanche.
  9. Here's another harness at Crutchfield: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120701000/ ... ml?tp=2977
  10. Check online if they don't have a harness at walmart or best buy. I got mine from eBay for like 5 bucks. Actually had to get a replacement harness because they PO hacked the crap out of the one in the dash. Here's a link to the one I got: http://cgi.ebay.com/Metra-70-1002-Jeep- ... _767wt_764 Not sure if this one will work for an 86 though.
  11. Great writeup here: http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=921205
  12. Bump. I'll even take an XJ or MJ bucket seat sliders and bracket if you got it.
  13. Very technical term for them, but I'm looking for a pair of these. After disassembling my seat rails to put on non-rusted MJ pedestals, the rollers are rusted and bent. Can't get them to slide well at all. Just need the small aluminum part, no need for the roller or the ball bearings. Pic is shamelessly stolen from mfpdm's write up.
  14. Looking for some grey B pillar trim in good shape. No cracks or holes and needs the speaker grills still on.
  15. The baking method worked pretty well. 15 minutes at 200 degrees loosened them up and I was able to pull them apart with a putty knife.
  16. Anyone know how to remove the lens from the housing? Mine are stuck together pretty good. I planned on baking it in the oven to loosen up the glue that holds it together. Wondering if anyone had a better idea.
  17. Speaking of Craig Sager, this is pretty funny.
  18. http://people.msoe.edu/~yoderw/oilfilte ... mopar.html Looks like it's random. You can tell from the backing plate what kind of filter it is though. I remember the ones I used to use for my XJ were purolators.
  19. Wix for me. I use the oversized one for my XJ (the filter for the 5.0 mustangs). Haven't had any problems with them. I did use fram once or twice and noticed my oil pressure went up 10-15 psi when I switched to Wix.
  20. The tach should have a pentometer on it. Pull the tach out of the cluster and you should see a white screw. You turn that screw to adjust the tach. I've found that turning it clockwise calibrates it for a 4 cylinder and putting it in the middle adjusts it for the 6. I'm not sure if the older clusters have that pentometer. Someone might able to answer that.
  21. Next time I can work on it I'll throw some baby powder on. It looks like it's leaking from one of the bolts where the clutch master cylinder goes into the firewall. Then again, it could be coming from higher up and I can't see it.
  22. Alright so I was going to meet Mike (comanche87) for a pair of bucket seats that he had. On the way I got a flat. It was a two lane road, which was much to narrow and someone decided to veer into my lane. I hit the curb trying not to hit him and shredded my passenger front tire. So I give Mike a call and tell him I got a flat. He asks me where I'm at and after I figure out where the hell I am I let him know. He comes by in a few minutes and we get my cherokee out of the main road. We take out my spare and put it on. It's flat. Very flat. Mike had a full size spare on him, which was also kinda flat, but much better than the crappy donut I had. We stopped at a gas station on the way to get the seats to fill both of them up with air. See, this is why I love this place. I've only met Mike a handful of times, yet he was willing to go out of his way to help me out AND give me his spare tire. Stories like this renew my faith in humanity. Anyone else have any similar stories?
  23. Just an update. So I found a new gasket for the fuse box and it still leaked. So I dug around and finally found that there was water where the hood release cable goes into the firewall (sorry Jim you were right ). Plugged that up and it STILL leaked. I found another place where it's coming in and that's where the clutch master cylinder is. Right now that's where I am stuck, but at least I'm getting somewhere. Is there a gasket in there somewhere and am I gonna have to unbolt it from the firewall?
  24. How did you get that dent out of the roof? I have a small dent in the same place and it looks like it's gonna be a pain to get out. Paint looks awesome. Looks very clean.
  25. Put a new hood seal in and thought it cured the problem. After some heavy rain today I had a bunch of water in the cab. It's still leaking from the fuse box. Maybe autobody sealer is the way to go but I'd like to be able to get the fuse box off if I need too. Any other suggestions?
