  1. Looking good bud. Just killed an hour at work reading through your build.
  2. Good advice guys. I'm also partial to the WJ's as I daily drive one, and so do my mom and dad, all 4.0's. It's funny because they all have the same problems, and often all at the same time. We have all had to replace the front window motors, the rear taillights are prone to an electrical gremlin from a bad ground, all our headlights are fogged up and cloudy, and the plastic exterior trim pieces have faded and clouded. That being said, it's comfy, good cargo space, can still go kinda fast, handles well, and has been overall reliable. I'm going to recommend that she check out the 2008+ Liberty, WJ Limited 4.0 4x4, and the 05/06 WK's. I think the Commander may be a bit too big and expensive for her although they are pretty classy looking. Thanks again guys.
  3. I should have phrased it, "best jeep for this girl." :)
  4. Thanks for the input guys. I'm going to pass those two options along and recommend that she test drive them to see what she thinks.
  5. A good family friend is looking for a reliable Jeep for about 6k. She had a Grand Cherokee that died on her recently, and she thinks she wants one of the SUV type Jeeps again, not a Wrangler or anything. I really don't know much about the Liberty, Compass, Patriot or anything after the XJ and was hoping you guys may have some input. Maybe a nice XJ would be a good option? She's a country singer, probably hauling around musical equipment and stuff, and although she wants something reasonable, it would be nice if it was kinda cool as well. She's pretty cool so I'd like to steer her right. Here's a video of her singing the national anthem at Texas Stadium, a pretty incredible moment, gets me all emotional and stuff. :USAflag: :rock on: :USAflag:
  6. My "stock" replacement springs from General Spring lifted my truck about 3 inches in the rear, and I believe member Jeep Driver had a similar experience. I hadn't planned on lifting the truck, so my options at the time were to take them off and send them back, or to go ahead and lift the front to compensate. I went ahead and kept them, lifted the front with new coils and ACOS spacers, added an adjustable track bar, WJ control arms and shims, new shocks front and rear, and bumped the tries up from 29's to 31's. It was a lot of extra stuff I hadn't planned or budgeted for, and although I'm happy with how it sits currently, the leafs were definitely not the height I was expecting.
  7. Sweet, thanks.
  8. Ok, that sounds good Jim. I'll send you a PM.
  9. I have a '91, and I guess I have an '86 long bed bracket? I dunno, it won't go on because the leaf spring bolt gets in the way. I attached a picture of the bracket I have. Thanks again. Image Not Found
  10. I bought a set of rear bumper brackets from a fellow board member, but it turns out they are for a long bed. I have a short bed Comanche, so I still need the rear bumper brackets. Thanks. I still have the long bed brackets if anyone wants to trade.
  11. Thanks guys.
  12. Does anyone make a bed mat for the short bed Comanche that fits without cutting? All that I see are universal fit that need to be cut to size. Thanks.
  13. I collect vintage baseball cards, with an emphasis on pre-war pitchers. My goal is to collect a card (or postcard/picture) for each of the top 100 pitchers of the 18th and 19th centuries, each from a different set. Then I want to write a book highlighting the history of the cards and players they represent. I also dabble in non-sports cards, and have been working to complete my favorite set ever, the 1933 World Wide Gum Sea Raider cards issued in 1933. These can be hard to find in good condition, so I've been grinding away at the 48 card set for several years. I think I just need 4 more, then I'll look to upgrade them slowly. ...and I collect Annie Oakley and Buffalo Bill stuff. My Mickey Mantle autographed ball. Thanks for looking! -Ross
  14. Grab the rear bumper and bumper brackets if they are still on, tailgate too. They are only getting harder to find, I'm sure someone would want them. If it's a short bed I need the rear bumper brackets, and if you grab the (not broken) taillights I'll buy them, shipping won't be too bad. Thanks bud, good looking out!
  15. Try and get the pair for $20, then go to $20 apiece. Depends on the condition, but if they are near perfect they'd sell for $100 a pair on here probably, someone correct me if I'm way off please. The plastic around the mounting screws seems to break easily so check that, and the little clips are always nice to have too. Please check for the little courtesy/b-pillar lights too, I need a couple. Thanks! Oh yeah, and a fuse box cover!
  16. Taillights yes for sure. Where are you located?

  20. I don't know how apparent it is from my picture above, but my down pipe doesn't look to be 2.5'' diameter. Once I get home I'll look at it a bit closer to see how it connects to the manifold. I'm not sure what the previous owner did to it, but the bend around the transmission pan looks like others I've seen, so I assumed it was an original down pipe. I'm still unsure why this exhaust guy needed to hack off the "inlet" to the cat, since it was sold as OEM replacement direct fit. I would expect the cat to have a 2.5'' inlet and 2.25'' output from the short pipe, but this guy is telling me it had a 2'' inlet. I was hoping this shop, which had good reviews and has been there forever, would set me straight, but now I'm confused. I halfway feel like he's jacking with me because I came in with my own parts. I'll look closer when I get home. Thanks for the help.
  21. Hey guys, the previous owner of my truck had a hack job of an exhaust set-up done, and I wanted to get it put back to as close to stock as possible. I got a good price on a basic Walker muffler (part#18403) and catalytic converter (part# 15634), and then took them up to a local exhaust shop. I told the guy that I wanted the cat and muffler installed, and 2.25'' pipe run out the back, over the axle, and out between the rear passenger tire and bumper. I also asked him if he could re-do the downpipe before the cat to take out the two 90 degree bends, and replace them with two 45 degree bends. He seemed confused about the downpipe request, but said he'd get it up on the lift and call me in a bit. I left it with him, and he called about an hour later saying that he wasn't sure he'd recommend the downpipe modification because it looked to be originally routed around the transmission pan for a reason, he thought maybe because of the heat from the pipe. I told him to leave the downpipe alone then, and to just put on the cat, muffler, and pipe out the rear. When I arrived to pick it up, he told me that the cat I brought him had a 2.25'' outlet, but only a 2'' inlet? He said he had cut off the inlet (without asking me) and welded a 2.25'' inlet to it, then attached it with a bracket to the downpipe. Then he says that the downpipe on my truck is only 2'' diameter. Huh? I thought that Comanche's had a 2.5'' downpipe that later narrows to 2.25''. The catalytic converter I bought was listed as a direct fit for a 4.0 1991 Comanche, and the specs show a 2.25'' outlet. Is that the right size catalytic converter after all? Is it even possible a cat would be made with a 2'' inlet and 2.25'' outlet or did he put it on backwards or something? I only had a minute to glance at it before I had to come to work today, but it seems like the downpipe is very narrow, smaller than the 2.25'' inlet he decided to weld on the cat. I'm not sure what to do now, but it just doesn't seem right, looking for some guidance. Thanks.
  22. Hey Yellaheep thanks for the feedback. Did you install the window yourself, or did the previous owner put it in? I ask because I wonder if it's possible to reuse my OEM gasket/seal with the new window to make it look and fit as original as possible.
  23. It's probably not going in until the truck is painted, so it may be a bit. I'll update at that point.
  24. I don't have it installed yet, still sitting against the wall in the box. Box looks good though!
