what a trip. left wed at 10:45 am. got there around 4 p.. ate and started fasting. up and at em at 6 am on thurs. in the hospital bed buy 7:15 am. prep started at 7:30. in surgery for the angiogram by 8:30. out and in recovery by 9:15. in my room around 10 am. walking at 11. checked out of hospital at 12:30 pm. met with my specialist at 2 pm. back to the hotel by 3. called the wife and ate something, then napped until 6:30pm. up and in bed by 8. up fri at 8. checked out of hotel at 9. got a bite to eat and then down the road at 9:30. 11 am stopped at cabela's to stretch a bit and bought a new hat. back driving at 11:45. got home at 3:30 pm (i drove a little fast). hit my chair, reclined, and out until 7. ate and cuddled the kids, and went to bed at 8:30 pm. now just resting and relaxing. i did get some kind of good news. it turns out that my disease has now slowed a little thanks to the drugs. they are talking about a pacemaker type device to help my heart recover and gain some strength. as the doc said, it's been through alot, alot. i go back in march and probably do that. they changed/added some meds. rest and relaxation for a couple days here before i start getting back to things. man, heart problems suck!! oh well, i'm still kicking! ;)

hang in there man. it'll all be ok soon. it does take a while to bounce back. i understand your feeling more "in tune" with your quirks, pains, and pressures in your chest now. going through such a thing does make you a bit gunshy for a while, but you'll get that "everything's ok" feeling back soon. take care and pay attention to what your body is telling you. you'll learn what it all means in time. ;)

door weather stipping where can i buy it
brdhntr replied to comanche13's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
what do you want for them(one set for the front doors)? -
are the back of mj's way too light?
brdhntr replied to brdhntr's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
defenitely not my first truck, but probably the lightest. i have thought of the proportioning valve, but since it goes away with weight in the backend, i lean more towards a light rearend issue. i knew i'd have to put a couple sand bags in back like any other pickup i've had without a topper. i just wasn't ready for that light a back end. just wondering, why did you mention 4wd? that only helps for traction to make you go, it does nothing for brakeing (well except in the case of downshifting on a manual tranny). i leave for mayo tomorrow, so i'll put some sandbags in it when i can lift again. i hope that will help. -
hmmmmmm....... that would make quick work of the driveway.

today i took the mj out for my first drive in the snow and ice (it's been on the jackstands for a while). i hit the bakes on the highway and was fishtailing all over. the roads were very, very icey, and i don't have the best tires on it, but wow. i just about wound up in the ditch. driving around town, the back brakes lock up pretty easy on the ice. i put some gas in and it got a little better. i hauled a load of furniture and it was fine. i plan on getting some sandbags in the back (i think 250-300 pounds) to help the problem. are the mj's just that light? is the rear brake design poor? i'll see how it goes when i get the new tires, and i knew i'd have to put some weight in back, i just didn't think it would be as much as i do now. anyone else have some trouble on the ice? :huh???:

second on jc whitney. they should have it. last i checked they did. you can even save a buck and just buy the bulk stuff instead of custom fit. :D -
been there, done that! most recently, i cut a piece of wood molding on the miter saw. i measured and made my cut. i knew i had things right. well i finished the cut and grabbed the piece to put it on. it was way too long. i just couldn't believe it! so i got another piece, measured, and made the cut. :dunce: it was at that point that i realized i did make the right cut on the first one. i just took the wrong piece off the saw to bring in. dummy!!! so i grabbed the right piece and put it in place like nothing happened. unfortunately, my loud swearing and complaining (it isn't cheap wood) were heard by my wife. so she was peeking and saw me figure out my screw up. man, it's hard to live something down after your wife knows about it.

hey, don't get me wrong, i am more than willing to help without expecting anything. i just ask for a thanks or that they pay it forward. it just ticks me off when they damage my stuff or don't even say thanks. on the big plus side, i got a text to check my mailbox yesterday. i checked it and found a $40 gas card! it's from the gal a couple doors down that i snowblow out all the time. she had a big thanks on the card. it was so nice to get a thanks like that. she did it as a gas card thinking it would help pay for the gas i use in the snowblower. i thanked her and said it would take care of the gas to do her place for the rest of the year. i do alot for her (she's a single mother with a house) to keep her house up, her car, etc.. she always thanks me, so i can't complain about her at all. it was just so nice getting that card from her. i feel bad because she only has her income, but that's also why it means so much. i will be happy to continue to help her out, as i would've before. i also helped a friend move this weekend. she is going through a divorce (and her x malested her daughter) so she needs all the help she can get. i do alot for her and she's not even in a position that she could give me gas money for hauling trailer loads across town. i am happy to help her, anyway i can. today, she decided i should take all the tools. there isn't much and they're cheap ones, but it's the thought that counts. she knows i'm into tools. it was nice of her. i'll put them in a tool box and leave them at the dog club so i don't have to haul tools back and forth as much. i can always use tools! ;) i tell you, after last week, these 2 people really helped me feel appreciated. i thank them.

if you want cheap, they sell foam pads that the canoe rails sit on. then you just strap it down in front and in back. i've used them alot. we used them on my brother in laws nissan pickup all the time. they're cheap too. i think about $15-20.

yep, i'll keep helping. today i pulled out a van. they tried to make a turn to pick up someone (it was a church van) and hit the snowbank instead. it was a big 15 passenger dodge. there were 13 people on board in their church clothes. i didn't make anyone get out. i just hooked on and gave a few tugs and got it out. i felt good about it. i will always help.

that's funny! :rotf: i buy the keeper brand tow straps. i think they're about the best. i usually get 2" x 20'. the main problem is pulling large vehicle out that are really stuck and the rubbing against stuff. i haven't actually snapped some, they just tore and freyed. 1 did snap. when i pull people out i make them hook it to their vehicle (well i do it for women) so i'm not responsible for any damage. i've been blamed for broken parts before, so i make them do it. unfortunately, this means they don't always hook it in the best spot for the tow strap and it gets damaged. i told my wife the other day that i'd be ordering a few more keeper tow straps this week. she is excited! ;)

hang in there. the diet helps, but remember to let yourself eat what you want now and then. giving up the soda is great. i allow 1 a day of diet caffeine free. i don't always have 1, but i let myself be open to it. i carry a gallon jug of water everywhere i go so i don't need to pick up a soda. you'll be back in action in no time. for now, relax and enjoy the fact that the doc's told you to take it easy. ;)

i say this alot, check the cables. if you have a bad cable, you might not have enough amps getting to the starter. you can still get some power, but not enough to start anything. if the cable is totally shot, then you won't get anything. it's those that go bad, but aren't totally shot that give you trouble. worth a check anyway. :D

i am. all the neighbors come to me to fix everything or do anything. i pull over when i see someone pulled over along the road. i jump start for people when needed. i'll help anyway i can. today i pulled out a mailman in his delivery truck. i always have at least 1 tow rope in all my trucks and jumper cables in every vehicle. this winter i've pulled 16 people out and jumped 10. heck, i even leave a bunch of airhose on a real on the outside of my garage that fits across the street in case someone needs to air up a tire or the neighborhood kids can air up their bike tires. man, i've gone through 3 keeper tow straps this year already. i snowblow out all the neighbors. i let friends and neighbors borrow my saws and other tools. yep, i'm a helper. my wife was out today scraping some ice. neighbors were outside putzing around, playing with their kids. no one came over to help her out. i got stuck a while back and no one stopped to pull me out. when i snapped a tow strap no one has offered to replace it. no one has even given me a dime for gas for the snowblower. my wife says i need to help others less. she may be right, but i just can't do it. helping out is part of who i am. all i ask is that when i help someone out, they pay it forward and help out someone else (or us when we need it). why don't people just help each other anymore? what's going on? :huh???: sorry. i just had to vent. it ticked me off that nobody came over to help my wife out and someone left my airhose strung out to the street so the end froze to the ground. then one of the neighbors brought back my compound miter saw that i let them use with the guard broken off. oh well, whatcha gonna do? :shake:

i'd check the guarantee on them with the actual shop that will apply it. when i had my shop, we applied rhino. the shop down the street did too. the difference was that if i had a customer come back later with a scratch or gouge in it, i fixed it and reapplied, no questions asked, that's the guarantee. the place down the street would inspect any damage and contact rhino to see if they will cover it. it's worth an extra $100-200 to be able to drive up and get it fixed for nothing. each shop can be different so check them out.

since i've had so many, i thought i'd clarify this. an angiogram is a less indepth heart cath. an angiogram is a pretty quick check for blockages in the arteries. a heart cath is usually much more indepth. they do more examining of the heart itself and the arteries as well as further into the arteries. often times people refer to both as heart caths, and that is technically correct. but the ones i have had and my daughter are far different from one another. so when someone says the had an angiogram, they had a quick check for blockages in the arteries. if they say they had a heart cath, the procedure was longer and they checked more out. think of it as an overhaul vs a rebuild. ;) at least this is my experience with them at mayo. for me, they do heart caths and they suck. i have to be fully alert and am on no drugs. when i get a angio, they let me have some sedatives. thursday i have an angio and my doc has promissed it would just be a quick angio and i can be sedated, yipppeee. either way they go in the same way and usually with the same equiptment. i will say, after hearing you say you have to keep an eye on the "site", i am glad i participate in the study at mayo. i'm scheduled at 7 am, will eat lunch there, and be back to the hotel by 3 pm or so. spend the night to make sure there's no problem, and i'll be driving the 5 hours back home on friday. i'll be going alone this trip. the wife and kids are staying behind. yep, this is pretty routine for me (that sucks to say). i'll get as much as i can done before i leave, but i'll be back at it monday or tuesday with light stuff. i'll be working on the jeep 2 weeks from now. i'll probably spend some time "resting" driving the tractor to move snow at the club. i've been through 2 the way you did, i don't miss it. it does take time to recover and heal. rest, relax, and plan your future. you only go around once, make it count!

it's been cold here too. lows in the -30's, highs around -15. it warmed up over night and today was beautiful, about +15. spent most the day working on the mj. should be on the road tomorrow, yippeeeeee!! my suburban has started everyday. i've been lucky. i jumped several people this week and it took alot of jumping and starting fluid to get the club tractor going yesterday. snow's great, but man i hate the cold!! :grrrr:

i feel your pain. i had 2 heart attacks (severe) at age 32 and who knows how many more before that. i have a rather rare heart disease. i now doctor at mayo clinic. i am scheduled for an angiogram there on thursday (i've had three angio's and 4 full heart cath's). it's alot different there though. it doesn't take you out much and there's less worry of bleeding. i participate in a study procedure and they put a stitch or two in the artery when on their way out. there's a little tugging on the inside for a couple days but no huge bruise and you are up moving in 1/2 hour. if they do it at 7 am, i'm back at my hotel by 5pm or sooner. i, too have been on a nitro drip. don't worry about the headaches, you get used to nitro and it's not a problem (if they put you on any nitrate that is). i feel for you, i know exactly what you've gone through all too well. feel free to send me a pm if you want to talk war stories. i may be able to give you a heads up on side effects of some of the meds they put you on. take it easy for a while and recover slowly. don't rush things or it'll set you back. now that you know what a heart attack feels like, your in a better position for the future. if you feel any signs again, you'll know to get in asap. as for me, i still have alot of heart trouble (that's why i'm disabled fulltime) but i am heart attack free for 5 years now. i'll find out on thursday if they can slow the progress of my disease at all. it's really progressing rapidly. we'll see what i find out on thursday. hang in there man. remember to enjoy life and don't sweat the small stuff. ;)

man i want that!!! i was out on the tractor for several hours at the club today. i didn't get finish since the blade fell off the 3 point hitch assembly. yes the blade fell off. i guess i was working it too hard. i'll go out this weekend to try and get it fixed. if it's as busted as i think it is, i'll have to bring it back and do some welding. it sure would have been nice to have heat!!!
