JK flares on an MJ??
johnny quest replied to johnny quest's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
ok thats a option, but those are $365 on sale. I got 4 JK fenders for $20; when i rip them off on a rock or whatever, i won't feel bad. when i get these on, ill put up some pics -
What if you could build a brand new Jeep Comanche?
johnny quest replied to beepbeepmyredjeep's topic in The Pub
id be ok with one of these: SRT8-MJ -
Has it been done?? i picked up a set for wicked cheap last night. Theyre wicked wide, and something i havent seen done yet. Theyll get chopped down a bit, but i need the coverage to keep the fuzz off my tail. Still unsure how I'm going to mount them. still in the process of ripping out the unnecessary JK inner fender crap.

nice!! we always called it 'rig stacking'. the boys over at TTC always end the week with a big 'ole rig stack. this year they have started with a pair of monster trucks and went from there :chillin: edit:

thats my soon to be patented 'super-temporary-good-enough-to-get-it-out-of-the-garage' suspension. its strong enough to hold the weight of the truck while stationary, or being rolled around/loaded onto a trailer, but thats it. I'm also using it to play with arm length to see how everything fits, so i don't drop money on real deal arms, just to find out they're too long/short. I'm gonna end up go with lower long arms around 31" long, about an inch shorter than the very temporary test arms that are on there now. The upper will have a custom mount made as well off the crossmember.

any suggestions for shocks? I'm getting to that point where ive gotta figure out what i need to get for under my MJ. Ive got an SOA in the back and around 4.5" in the front. what has worked well for you? what should i stay away from?

is that the MJ with the funky lookin tube bed??
-
at EJS this year, there was a 'crew cab' brute with a flat bed cruising around with cummins 2500 badges. id much rather see this than a crew cab wrangler thats still a wrangler at heart. edit: http://burnsvilleoffroad.com/posts/intr ... er-pickup/

so work has been moving at a snails pace on this rig. the LCA mounts are long gone and the frame rails are mostly cleaned up. A friend and I burned the coil/shock/link mounts onto the d60, welded the axles tubes so they wouldnt rotate, and fabbed up a truss for stregth and for a mounting spot for the UCA mount. it looks like my lowers will be around 32". my upper is undecided, as I'm not sure where to put the frame side UCA mount; looks like I'm going to have to cut into the floor and then build a tunnel around the mount and arm. ive been shopping around for heims/flex joints and it looks like I'm going to use the 1.25" heims at the axle end, and some clevite bushings at the frame end. if this was a 100% offroad rig, i would just go for heims all the way around, but since it will be a street driven rig, i am going to bushings (for now) to keep with a bit quieter and a bit smoother. once i get the mounts in place, and the arms tapped and welded, then 'the chief' as it has affectionatly been referred to lately will hopefully be rolling. i also picked up 3/4 ton chevy front calipers to go on the 14b, and an Ford E350 master cylinder last week, which along with a gutted proportioning valve, should give me some pretty good pedal feel. I'm considereing going with square driveshafts to cut down on cost, but at the same time, i may just go to the junkyard and find a longer-than-what-i-need driveshaft thatll fit the 14bolt, and just shorten it; if possible i'll do this up front as well, just gotta figure out the joints. still havent fired it up yet...

Worth the price on craigslist!
johnny quest replied to Mongo's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
i paid less than that for my shortbed, rear bumper, and tail lights, and it came with the rest of the rust free Chief still attached!! -
i'll take the crewcab  (and yes, its photoshopped, not that we'll be seeing a new FC in any configuration on a showroom floor ever :( )
-
like Dirty said, no crewcabs or extended cabs; just the regular cab that we all have. id love to know more about the duallys, like if the drivetrain was any different, if the axles were swapped out for something a bit more heavy duty, and so on and so forth. or if it was just some fiberglass bedsides and some wheel spacers... so much want...
