  1. 10k toward a new vehicle almost sounds tempting, but I went out of my way to buy my MJ, and wouldn't trade it or sell it for anything. It is still a work in progress, even if it runs and drives it still needs A LOT of work. I am not tempted by this offer at all, I love my MJ too much.
  2. I'm curious too, what does the gear ratio actually affect? and what gears would be optimal for a mostly pavement MJ
  3. I work in a salvage yard, and most yards I know of aren't willing to pay anything for a vehicle over 20 years old that has no motor. I have had a few dealerships call and ask what we would pay for a rig with no motor. Of course, my yard specializes in the cars that Obama is trying to keep on the road, the plastic pieces of crud that don't last very long anyway. I only have two pre 90 xj's and one mostly stripped 87 MJ left. It makes me sad.
  4. mostly pavement, would love to do a 1-2 inch lift, put some 31's under it, I have a guy that is going to spray the entire truck with bedliner, I have new fenders, all the flares, and a new header panel for it. Going to put new seats in it, need to check the pan for rust still, and going to put a new fuse block in, and rewire the entire dash. Thinking about swapping to a 4.0HO with an Aisin 5sp and xfer case. Not sure what gears I have under it now, but since I don't off road really, don't see any sense in swapping it out. I have already done the radiator conversion, so I no longer have the closed coolant system. I am open to lots of ideas, and am going to see what I come up with when I am done, as long as it is a Comanche, I am happy.
  5. Okay, I have been hanging around a while, and am just now getting my Jeep and my camera together. I am really enjoying the project, though the Comanche is still exactly as I bought it save for the roll bar. more pics to come as I start working on it... *edit* changed Subject line
  6. I have a body shop here in WA that is going to do the body work on my truck, and spray the entire thing with bedliner for $500... he owes me a favor or two, but his retail would prolly run about 850 or so, and he does quality work.
  7. I was planning to Rhino Line mine... or hammerite... very durable paint job, easy to do yourself (doesn't really run or drip) and comes out unique... will be doing mine after I get the body work done... available in a few colours
  8. Hey there, new member here. I live in Shelton, WA and have finally acquired a Comanche. It is still a work in progress, but it is a runner/driver. 1989 MJ 4.0L 5spd factory 4x4 short bed everything I ever wanted in a truck... will get pics up soon
