What is the best way to lift a Comanche say 3" I want some lift for cheap budget right now. i have other things more important. i have 31" tires at the moment. And i want to get 33s soon. Just looking for a lift without going SOA because thats too much. And i don't want to do long arms or track bar or anything of that nature. i plan on lifting my truck higher sooner or later and i understand i will "rebuy" most of the parts. but i just want a budget boost for the time being. So coils Or spacers up front and AAL in rear. I understand AAL is lame but its what I'm stuck with for a budget boost i guess Just throw some ideas my way i would like to fit 33s on a small budget boost and i plan on trimming and have already started. thanks guys

I have 1.25" wheels spacers/ adapters to get to 5x5 bolt pattern. I do not have any lift and i have 265/75 on 16s My rims are 5.25" backspaced. But i have the spacers so comes out to 4.5 backspacing and i have no rubbing problems check my mj project page. If you Get wheel spacers make sure they are Hub centric. Mine are not i am aware of everything but i check mine often and have them mounted correct. AND i couldnt find them to adapt my bolt pattern. And if money would allow it i would have hub centric ones. its worth the money and is not even question

I Replaced mine On my 1980 Malibu my fiberglass Hood came up and smashed the window. It isnt hard. But its not a place on the vehicle to cut corners on. i used a lot of the adhesive. so it squished out but malibus also have a window trim that goes over.

BUT i have seen many different Cut fenders on here ppl Cut Differently. Some follow The factory Shape and others change it A bit. Also the rear quater trimming but there was Already a thread about that. So Now Everyone Post up Pictures of Cut/Trimmed Custom OR modded fenders/ Flares If ya would :)

Well i got my wheels and tires mounted today. Need to paint the rims. And i need to get my other fender mounted and Fender flares on. Fixing the intake problem this weekend also. -
Well it was warm out side yesterday. So i went out side and checked all my vacuum leaks. played with it some. and then i saw a gap on the intake gasket and as soon as i touched it the idle dropped. So i got some rtv out put it one ther and let it set up just to see if that is what it is. But the truck warmed up and idles high still. BUT was dropped by about 500 rpms. So my conclusion is that is the problem but the intake gasket is failed else where also So this weekend i am parking it in a buddys garage and redoing the intake Gasket. And i will take this time to replace my exon valdez power steering pump.

\ Well i have to Apologize now.... LOL I just have been on other forums and ppl flame you for asking questions I am glad this forum is awesome and all the ppl here are helpfull
-
well that is all i block off was the egr and even before i did this my truck idled really high and whines. it stops whining when i give it gas. so i think its vacuum related for that reason Maybe an intake leak ? idk i need help
-
Ok i know you guys are getting tired of hearing me ask petty little questions but i am trying to get my little mj on the road and i have did the best to my knowledge. But some things are stumping me and any other angle at the problem is much appriciated I fixed all the vacuum lines i could find and blocked off a few from what some ppl told me on the last post. and full tune up etc etc.... But when my truck warms up only when its starting to get warm. a loud whining comes from back of the motor somewhere i cannot find it and the truck begins to idle up around 2000 rpm I cannot find a vacuum line that is torn i have taken off replaced and played with every vacuum connection trying to find it. tried a few other things to no avail If anybody has had this problem before please help me out. or if anybody has any ideas what could be doing it Any help is much appriciated. i want this to be my winter truck and i sold my other means of transportation so i am kinda stuck. let me know.. thanks guys

no i havent tried mounting them. you can just look and tell they are too big. so they must be newer. The guy told me they were 4.5 but i got a tape out and they are not. there just the steel wheels. but with the new tires and trim some fender. I'm holding off on the lift until i get a new job. But i will post pics with fender flares and new rims tires and spacers. -
want to talk wussy motor i have an 11 sec 1980 malibu :) and that was before recent mods but i love the 5.3 And i checked on the mega squirt and for a gm motor its like 1200 for the whole package. so its acually cheaper to carb. just my 2cents. maybe not that is just all i could find. but i have never messed around with efi so you prolly know more about it than me.

What's so great about a Comanche?
turbotyla replied to bilgamesh's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Combo number two please..... I'm new to owning a comanche or a truck or jeep in general. I'm 18 and i have built a few cars with my father in our shop. mostly small block chevy. drag cars. bla bla bla. But i found my beauty on my local CG and got it for 500. Not the nicest thing in the whole world But i love that it is a small truck with a great motor. and idk what it is but I'm pretty sure I'm in love with it. even with a front diff leak and dents and everything. and This forum is awesome. The PPL here are friendly I have been on other forums and ppl are mean. Like ? wtf were all here because we love one type of vehicle/brand. It doesnt matter Comanche ppl are awesome and help each other out. The crowd around the vehicle reflects its character Also. -

well got a set of 06 wrangler rims today for 40 bucks. not to bad but they are 5x5 bolt pattern. ordered some wheels adapters. And got some kuhmo road venture tires 265/75 so pretty much 31s and got a all four corners of black fender flares. :)) will post pics soon with everything installed. O and i got a xj console. :) love it. -
ok i just went out and looked and it is plugged in. i have good grounds. but i have a third connector there that i can't find anything to plug into and i seem to be missing a fair amount of vacum hoses. anybody know where i could get these. or would a pick n pull junk yard be my best bet. and is there any tech write up on how to remove uneeded vacuum hoses for emission and random junk. so i can get ride of all the random junk. my truck needs some tlc lol 500 junker but will be nice someday AND!!!! my heater does not work. i drained all the water out today and added premixed antifreeze and it isnt taking that much. simple way to burp the air. i think thats why i get no heat. i don't even get the fan tho ?
-
IAC, MAP, CTS TPS My truck will not idle it just climbs to 2 to 3k and stays there will not come down. i need to replace these ? and i don't know what they are lol can i get an idiot version :) i know one is throttle position sensor. but it ran great until today when i started it? some help would be much appriciated

A stand alone fuel system would be nice but they are expensive. Plus you don't lose any power by being carbed.
-
well i have not done it personally. and don't know any one who has into a mj. But i have messed around small blocks and i have always wanted to do a ls based motor swap in to something different. motor mounts would have to be fabbed, or you could buy some and drill/bolt and measure it all yourself. You would have to go to a gm trans 700r4 t350/t400. with trans case. Good new is that you can get a carb kit for them now for around $700 And it comes with msd control box with different curves. and Wires to connect to the knock sensor and cam angle sensor...etc. and you don't lose power just MPG.Plus with cam swap and new valve springs you can push over 400Hp out of a stock ls1. And still get decent Mpg For how much power. And goes for all ls based motors. great power and fuel economy if you can get a 5.3 go for it. any ls based motor they are all the same out side demension. so if you did a 4.8/5.3 you could change or swap out later.with out much work. just getting everything over to the ls is the most work. 4.8 and 5.3 are only different by the stroke and the rod length.... 5.3 and 6.0 is only bore. and they are just iron block with different cam, intake, acc, pulley. etc.....\ ls1.ls2.ls6.ls7... are all alum block. so i would say go for it. i have always wanted to just havent had funds..... Dreams don't pay for anything. But i might know someone you could get a 4.8 off of cheap with 65,000 miles i think. complete... I think it would be awesome and i have a 4.8 i could get my hands on i already thought about this. ALOT lol and might do it later down the road.
